The bigger question is, can France and Algeria escape the war and move on? For that to happen both sides will need to be able to realise the evil they did to each other. Both are too proud to do that.

Today France is the biggest neocolonial state and still controls practically every resource primarily in its former African colonies which continue to prop it up hence why it remains one the richest nations in the world. Unfortunately there are some if not the majority of the colonized masses as a result of the brilliance of the machine of colonialism created by france has been that dont recognize or even know that they reside in a neo-colonial state. But make no mistake there are still few and of course once our people slowly if need be awaken from their daze then they too will want justice. The justice i talke about will have to come from either 1, massive reparations for colonization (which is probably 100% not gonna happen or B. the destruction of france in its existance on African soil. They may have connived and killed Sankara and Lumumba etc. but as long as oppression and neocolonialism exists there will still be people who will fight and die if need be for the justice and dignity of the colonized masses.

It was for a short time. Since it showed scenes of French civilians and police officers being killed. And Algerians being tortured (which the French denied at the time).

Islam invaded North Africa; used it as a staging ground and attacked and occupied Europe. The French fought back and kept it at arm’s length for approximately 140 years. I remember seeing this movie back in the ‘80s and having sympathy for the Algerians. What a mistake! Islam in a man is as dangerous as rabies in a dog.
Both sides were wrong in one way, the comments here seem to mainly be Algerians though. I don't find the French conquering Algeria any difference from Algerians (Berbers and Arabs) conquering Spain in the 8th Century.
