It's interesting to see how much Chinese car brands are struggling to break into the big leagues. China's economy is now almost 19% of the world economy. When Japan represented 17% of the world economy in the 1990s, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, Suzuki and Daihatsu had taken the global car industry by storm. They were crushing their competitors around the world. But China's car companies--Dongfeng, Changan, Wuling, Chery, Geely--hardly make a dent. That's even true with car sales INSIDE China. I wonder why?
