How did I miss that April fool’s prank?! Recently on Nextdoor, a woman in my neighborhood posted a picture of a placid Puma being given a bath. Her text said “found this tabby on my doorstep, ate 9 cans of tuna, please share for anyone missing their kitty”. 90% of the commenters were referring her to the FWC, telling her in urgent terms that it was not a cat. Most thought it was a Florida panther or Bobcat, her replies were calm and hilarious, always mentioning that it was definitely a house cat and that she was going to name it George🤣🤣🤣 It’s amazing how many people are immune to sarcasm. Thank you for another great video!
It’s so true omg! I guess it can get lost in text but also…I mean some things are obvious. I would think, at least George sounds like he has quite the appetite 🤣😂
honestly that aprils fools joke is one of the better ones. the best was joseph anderson did a "serious review" the chrome browser game, which was totally hilarious. i'm just going to stock up, like i usually do on my moisturizers and toner. plus there's a hair dryer i want. Also i'm going to pick up a mini of the Sulwhasoo first care and ginseng serum. i bought a trial set and i like it. I've also been using that energizing mask on your rec for a while now.
Glow Recipe is one of my favourite brands, despite them being expensive and using fragrance. I find that their products are gentle and never caused me problems, I bought the Fruit babies set for my mums birthday and she liked it. Their Guava vitamin C, plum plump cream, and the papaya cleansing balm are my faves. I really want to try their avocado cleanser at some point
It’s funny because I almost feel they aren’t TOO expensive, nor TOO scented - and yet they do get a lot of …well I guess they get both love and hate lol I think they’re a cute brand where finding the right products means everything!
Alice! Hi! I actually remember that April fools story and I was cracking up 😂😂 i’m honestly so grateful that someone shared their 20% off link with me on Reddit and I already know what I’m purchasing!
Oh man, Dr Idriss! So full disclosure - I've been a subscriber to her channel for 2+ years now and I love her content. I was a day 1 purchaser of her brand. So some mini-reviews: Flash Mask - My HG exfoliant. I have never been able to use glycolic acid or lactic acid formulations until this one, which is surprising because it's very powerful. If I sleep in it, I wake up with the most baby soft skin in the world, but she only recommends sleeping in it for people without sensitive skin (again, weird, because I have rosacea and acne but this works for me). I'll never be without it. I'm actually picking up a couple tubes from Sephora during the sale. If I have an event, I always plan around being able to use this a night or two before to ensure my skin is the perfect makeup canvas. Hyper Serum - Gorgeous texture, incredible ingredients. Imparts a wonderful glow to the skin. Can't speak to long-term benefits though since it broke my skin out, likely due to the inclusion of cetearyl olivate. That ingredient is in every gel-cream moisturizer that has broken me out so I'm thinking it might be the problem child for me. Moisturizer - Love the pump, love the ingredients. Again, lovely texture. Pretty moisturizing even for my dry skin. Contains tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, the gentle but effective vitamin C ester, and does best applied twice a day because of this (from what I understand, THD does best 2x at day). Again though, cetearyl olivate is in this product so for me, it resulted in small closed comedones in my breakout zones. The Depuffer - Lovely, arnica-rich product. Really does bring down puffiness - I've been shocked. I used it when I cried for a few hours one night and knew I was going to be puffed up like a blowfish in the AM and between using it in my overnight routine + my AM routine, I had no swelling or puffiness. Pretty magical. I use it in my flush-prone areas, like the center of my face. Has a bit of a scent to it - likely due to the high amounts of arnica - and is a bit thicker. Also keep pressure on the cap when rotating the roller or it can kind of pop out. My boyfriend has had to fix my applicator a few times. 😅 She mentioned in a live that she actually wanted to call it the "Deflusher" but was told that wasn't very sexy or attractive so they went with "The Depuffer." She recommends it for people with redness and inflammation. And today she released a cleanser that will remain exclusive to her site for a month before coming to Sephora. In her most recent live, she recommended the PM routine of cleanse -> flash mask for 15-20 minutes -> Depuffer OR Hyper Serum (depending on whether you have redness or dark spots) -> retinols -> moisturizer. I do love her brand and her vibe. She's very no-nonsense, which makes sense since she's from NYC. Her brand is also entirely self-funded via her own savings, hence her higher prices and limited range. She's talked several times about how important it is to her to have total control over her brand rather than be liable to VC funding or incubators, like Prequel. And to be clear, I contacted her brand CS directly when I had issues with two of the products and they refunded me without question and I passed the products on to a friend with melasma.
Hi Alice, I agree with you and the Sephora’s reviews re this year’s sunscreen kit. The products are so much smaller, size-wise and similar brands from last year’s kit but I still bought one for my young adult daughter and one for myself bc of the donation to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I love your channel! Cindy from Seattle
Don't really know what's worth it in Sephora anymore for me when I've completely gone over to Korean and Japanese products - value in this economy. I still have a small 50ml size of the tatcha rice wash that I enjoy for travel skincare tho...
I hear ya. And while they do have some K/J beauty that I love, it still is more affordable at the KB retailers (slower shipping, but I’m patient hahaha)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole exactly... Previously I used PC 2% BHA and now isntree one is enough for way cheaper. I'm not even sure what freebie to get for birthday month witty Sephora.
Same ! This video made me realize I only use one Sephora product, everything else is K-Beauty. Even if some brands that I use are a bit more expensive than the "usual" K-Beauty prices, it's still way more affordable than Sephora
The major fade moisturizer from Dr Idriss. It's a gel cream, perfect for spring and summer. Also like it because it has a vitamin c derivative and helps me streamline my routine. 😊
I have it and love it. I have combo skin. It doesn't dry it out or make it oily. Sinks in beautifully. And the big plus no breakouts. Which it usually does with vitamin c.
The Dr. Idriss Major Fade has really kicked up my brightening game. I use (and love) Topicals Faded and Regimen Lab Level serum so I was surprised when I got a noticeable boost from Major Fade. I'll keep it in my rotation because it's the most elegant application of the three. From learning about your skin, I'm wondering if it would be too harsh for you, though? 🤷♀️ Oh...and just fyi, she pronounces her name 'ē dris'. 🙂 Truly enjoy your videos! Thanks, Alice! ✌️❤️
Oh wow that sounds amazing, but yes I admit I’ve had the same reservations! Might try it at Sephora because of that returns policy though LOL! Thank you! ☺️
I strategically still shop there for the sale. But I keep my purchases to things only available at Sephora and staples I would have paid full price for anyway. Needless to say --- I have added and subtracted from my cart quite a bit in the past week. 😂
I don't think I'm buying anything in the sale. Maybe the One Size Wicked brush because it's really my aesthetic. I'd been thinking about getting some Danessa Myricks items but I got those a few weeks ago when you posted about them being on GMA deals. That was a much better deal than the Sephora sale! I bought the SKII in the sale last year but now that I know it works for me, I'll just get it at Costco - $220 for 11 ounces there. I sort of destroyed my budget then lit it on fire during the Ulta sale so it's best for me to sit this one out anyway! 😂
Interesting that J beauty has better matte sunscreens. I will have to check that out. The Sephora Sun favorites are nice to have for putting in your purse to have on the go
I just found your channel and absolutely love it ❤ I don't know why you don't have a million subscribers. What are some good lightweight essences for summertime? Thank you 😊
Thank you! Do you want an essence or a toner? And Sephora or just in general? My favorite essence is still the cosrx propolis, though it does have some “body” so to speak to it (absorbs beautifully). Incredible for hydration!
My favorite spf lip balm (outside of some Japanese Nivea ones) is the Jack Black one. I like the regular shea butter and vit e one best. The black tea and mint ones are good too.
I love the Cay Skin spf lip balm! It's quite sticky, so it has staying power and it doesn't dry out my lips. It's the only skincare I'll be buying at the Sephora sale 💋
I just got the sulwhasoo classic cream and a small SK-II set to try out, im so excited 😆 plus, sunday riley good genes, the ddg peel pads, and dieux air angel! I wanted to stock up on some actives but I'm trying to keep it gentle still of course. I'm only early 20's but I'm curious to see if the sulwhasoo works to help my combo hormonal acne prone skin any. Ginseng is such an incredibly interesting ingredient 🤔 hopefully it's worth it!
Great recommendations! Considering switching from my beloved Peach Slices azlaic acid to Drunk Elephant for that extra salicylic acid. For the Idriss line, I have been using the 3 step system for a few months now and really like it. She is an expert in hyper pigmentation and really created a beautiful system with everything you need. The formula feels great on my skin with zero irritation for my dry, sensitive skin. Can’t wait for you to try it and share your thoughts!
As someone with very dry and sensitive skin, whose first skincare routine was one of those clean & clear gel cleansers with microbeads, an astringent toner and oil free moisturizer... I think it may simply be a rite of passage to ruin your moisture barrier as a learning teen lol. The equivalent of throwing a hand grenade at a single pimple. I'm intrigued by dieux's unusual ingredients- plankton? Harpoon weed? Rockweed?? These sound my types of plants.
Or just as a skincare enthusiast 🥲 I think we all have to do it at some point! I just hate to think kids have to go through it (or I’m giving away that I was picked on as a kid LOL)
I meant to grab it in the Ulta sale so I could earn points, but I didn’t realize the discount code could only be used once 🥲 So I’ll catch it in the Sephora sale!
I actually really like the Kose suncut uv perfect milk (it’s a hybrid so it’s not as quick of an application, but it’s a really nice soft matte finish) There are more in my waterproof sunscreens video though!
I wanna get the glow recipe hyaluronic cream, but I would like to find a close alternative instead, since I won’t be able to always get it on sale. The Sephora clean me up set is pretty good! I didn’t wanna risk it, so I got it before the sale since some of those sets fly off the shelf quickly. I love the eyeliner and the hair mask.
Great picks! Have you ever tried the Indigo mask from Tatcha? I try to get a jar every Black Friday from their site as I was never rouge enough!!! I am curious about the Dr Idriss too!❤
This may sound a little funny, but.... What about a sunscreen stick as a lip balm??? If you think that might work, which one would you recommend?? Love you in pink!! Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
If you wanna try something from Dr.driss I would definitely suggest trying their Major Fade Serum. I loved using it and hope to try the Roller for puffy eyes and face next. I went through one full use of it over about 5-6 weeks and it brightened my whole complexion, made a small dent is my really stubborn pigmentation and had made a large dent in reducing acne pigmentation from acne that started and went while using the serum. It felt nice to use and did not bother my really sensitive skin. Only down side is the price ;-;
Dr. Idriss is releasing her soft wash cleanser on 8 Apr (it contains poloxamer 184 found in contact lens solutions). Have you tried the Byoma barrier+ treatment (it seems fairly recent). Do you know of any Asian beauty lip SPFs (I've heard of the Rohto Mentholatum one). Also, have you reviewed the Illiyoon fresh moisture lip & eye makeup remover?
Oh interesting. And yes!! The Byoma will be in my video, which I’m hoping to get up very soon - it’s actually incredible. The Rohto is the one I’ve tried! It has a little bit of a funky taste, but overall is tolerable (and was $3-4 on stylevana)
Hello Alice 😀 I am so over Sephora Sales, and I know I am when I can go to their site and can't really find anything that I want (unless it is a new lippie - there is always room for another lippie).💋 I feel like I am shopping a sale everyday when I am shopping for my KBeauty skincare. I have never purchased anything from Drunk Elephant - I have received samples and nothing wowed me. I will shop when Klarna does their promo - 25% off, really why wouldn't anyone just save their purchases for that day. I am over Glow Recipe - I like their products, there are just so many other better products out there, just my opinion. I did develop some kinda weird reaction to their Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner (this really used to be my ride or die - but somehow my skin doesn't like it anymore). Have a lovely day, I am absolutely in love with your hair (I am also experimenting with wigs - it is fun when you feel like a different color)! ❤❤❤
Exactly, that is the best promo of the year. Which i feel works out great for splurges - LOTS of time to think before committing to a purchase! Thank you so much! Wigs are soooo much fun, and I love how there really aren’t downsides! If one doesn’t work out, it’s a whole lot easier to change it (vs a cut/color 👀), other people seem to find it fun as well, and it’s normalizing wigs for those who need them (more availability and less stigma, yay!) Win-win in every way 😁
I really appreciate the packaging for GR so I'm always frustrated that I have not had success with the few products I've tried. Imo they also make it more confusing when they make notes on the label that certain things are "natural fragrance" prob in an attempt to appeal to those that mainly avoid all fragrance. Welp those are the ones I tried, and they still just didnt work for me 😓I know I'm quite sensitive tho from what I have learned, so it's the cross I bear lol
I have the Sephora favs set in my cart that have the brown tower28 , the duix eye patches , YSL le black opium and sol dejaniro 71 and a few more things I don't need like the TF new quad and the Qui body cream body and wash set . Supposedly u can get a 20% now and share ur 20% . I just bought the dermatology needle less and the Reviv EGF serum and that was pricey so my Sephora cart is smaller .
That will be a nice haul! I had to look up the quad but wow, it really is lovely And yes I really like that we can share the discount! Smart move as it makes me less grumpy about the limitations. Just gotta find a friend to share (or share with!)
I really want to get some more travel size perfumes to really figure out if I love a fragrance before buying full size. I sampled (in store) Replicas matcha meditation and from the garden scents and they're so unique and I couldn't stop smelling my husband's wrists where he sprayed the samples. I'd love to get to know them better, and I've been wanting to get a full size of the Kayali vanilla 28 and/or the pistachio fragrance, I know I love both. But as you've pointed out, brands have great end of year sales and I'm not rouge, so it's silly to shell out at 15%! I saw replica was just running a 20% off sale. I'll most likely skip this and focus on my next kbeauty haul.
Yup, there will always be deals! And for Kayali, the absolute best deals are Huda’s Black Friday deals. Out of this world pricing, whew. She had a catch in that you had to sign up to shop the sale (about a week before), but it was soooo worth it
Love your Channel! Do you think worth buy SKII from Stylevana? Or it is better to buy from Sephora? I can buy from Stylevana a 230ml for 106 dolars, I think it is a really good deal.
Have a wonderful week. I am not getting much. I like the Sephora cotton pads. The square ones. Maybe a couple of 10ml perfumes. A Denessa Myricks eyeliner. They are so pretty and they don't move in my water line. Cinema Secrets brush cleanser. I am still making my list. I did use the 20% off at Ulta to get the Natasha Denona new palette and the Ellis Brooklyn Sand body mist. Oh, I am absolutely getting a Rare Beauty new blush. What color? Not positive. Have a wonderful week ❌️ ⭕️
Ooh the ND face palette? I almost went for that (but decided I “needed” the drunk elephant more lol). Can’t wait to hear how it goes for you! Can’t beat cinema secrets either. I’m interested in those blushes as well (it’s always blushes, they get to us! 🤣😂) hope you have a great week too!
I really liked the tower28 mascara, I got it in a previous favorites set, but it was already pretty dried out. It was unusable within a month, really by the 3rd week it wasn't really usable. I'm unsure if that's the case for every one or just the ones in 'favorites' sets that may be from old batches. Makes me nervous to repurchase, I wondered if others had the same experience.
I had mostly makeup on my list, but man I forgot how many good Skincare brands are at Sephora!!!!!! I have to pass on the suncare kit bc I can’t use most American sunscreens, but I do have the cay skin lip balm in irie rose and it’s my absolute favorite lip SPF! I did try the full Dr idris system when it first came out and I think my biggest issue with it was that all of the products together only lasted about a month and within that timeframe I was not able to see any improvements using the whole system. I had some of the mask left over that I was able to use a bit longer and I did find it very gentle. None of it bothered my skin, which is always nice but I was disappointed and not motivated to buy it all again I guess the truth of it all! On the flipside, I love Dieux And would love to be able to get it on sale in the future. Also love the grande lip mask (omg do you remember when that was in 21 days of beauty! 😅) I really wanted to try the cloudberry toner, but that’s pure curiosity (and I’m nervous now because my skin hates everything 😂) I’m excited to hear what you think of what you try!!
Thank you for sharing! That’s good to know with the Dr. Idriss products. It’s true that the worst case scenario is a reaction with pricey products (why I’ll never forgive Augustinus Bader lol), but ..eh, it’s also not super fun to not see products live up to their claims. I was SO hoping the Dieux moisturizer would be in stock for the sale. Whew is that one ever nice.
Well my AC went out soooo my cart may shrink. I want either the DM new pallette and Rose n Brunch blush , a bunch of Kerastase and the Wow volumizer and Natasha Denona new face pallette. ❤
Yep. Sadly. “Pitera” feels next level That said, I feel that you have to have the hyperpigmentation/fine lines to see the results. For those who don’t, I would recommend the dupes instead!
I thought about getting Sk-II but I got two bottles of Time Revolution so I'm conflicted and I have a costco membership. But I was hoping they would have a set of some sort as well. What I have in my cart is are online exclusives like the Belief set, K18 set, The Ordinary and Dam Dam set. I also wish Sephora would fix their app because they are unusable during the sale and I feel like the website is going crash again like last year so it looks like I'll be going into the store twice (Thursday and the following Tuesday bc I'm VIB)
It’s very smart to look for the sets! How do you feel on trying a mini size of the sk-ii? Those are usually about $15-20/oz on the KB sites. The only catch IMO is that I didn’t believe it was doing much of anything at first. Took about 5 weeks for me to be wowed!
I think too with luxury brands like SK-II, it’s sometimes worth buying directly from the brand itself for the bonus sets/gifts with purchase and brand points 🤷🏽♀️
It really is. In fairness to Sephora, I’ve *usually* felt like it’s a nice environment (the employees at most locations are super nice and helpful!) - but sometimes I just feel overwhelmed by the prices 😅🤣
@@AliceintheRabbitHoledon't get me wrong....Ulta's customer service is 💩 the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced but Sephora doesn't have affordable options. I'm not big into makeup but as far as affordable skincare goes seems like it's just TO and the Inkey List at Sephora.
Hello Alice, I always enjoy your review on products! 😊 I purchased a new product by Dr Shah, dermatologist, REMEDY for dark spots. There’s an excellent list of ingredients for hyperpigmentation.
I was one who purchased the sun kit every single year, that is until I discovered Korean sunscreens. That sun kit is a horrible value. Most of the products are teeny tiny . they’re more like 100 point perks.
The DE and Paula’s Choice Azelaic acid both worked absolute WONDERS for my congestion/PIH-prone skin, and unfortunately the cheaper K-beauty AA alternatives didn’t keep the clogged pores at bay 😕 For sunscreen, my favorite US spf is still the Unseen Sunscreen 🤷🏽♀️ doesn’t sting like most chemical sunscreens do on my screen, and as an oily/combo gal it has a nice soft matte/velvetty finish to take the shine off the end of my routine For Dr. Idriss’s products (pronounced ee-dris), I don’t think you can go wrong! She uses all her products regularly herself, her mask seems good for overall brightening (especially sun spots/freckles) based on anecdotal reports, her hyperpigmentation serum seems more for PIH (which I believe you've mentioned isn't a huge concern), and her moisturizer is a good daily cream with a vitamin C derivative (probably the least exciting?). She also has her depuffer eye serum which she literally made for herself lol
Thank you for sharing, that’s super helpful! It’s really great to hear she actually uses her products (quite a contrast to celebrity brands which often feel…ahem. It can go unsaid because I’m sure we all know 🤫)
