@@caydengineer it's nice to see channels that are about the content theyre covering as opposed to putting on a "show" hehe I just ordered the nreal airs. Wanted something a little less cumbersome than the quest.
@@caydengineer the quest I'd bought to play random games like table tennis rec room paintball etc. I used it a lot for youtubing (altho it was a little pixelated on the quest 1). It's good and immersive but not something you can just pop on and go. Like it takes effort. Not to mention the weight. I'll mainly use the nreal air to view content on. Possibly use a Bluetooth controller for gaming. Will also come in handy as my gaming laptop screen broke...so I can use it on that also lol (was thinking of getting steam deck)
Ah, ok, gotcha, very nice. Yes the Nreal Air is quite mobile. It's tethered and a bit bulky so not yet all day glasses, but definitely something you can bring in your backpack and use all over the place.
The future is looking bright for smart glasses! I was particularly interested in that triple monitor overlay - had seen this from the Quest Pro headset from Meta, but was really cool to see it on much smaller hardware. Awesome vid as always Cayden!
Your reviews are outstanding. I am excited to see the future of a lot of these glasses. I have that Oculus Pro great for home, but I am now looking at other options you recommended. ~Chad James
I really fuck with this video on so many different levels. You nailed it right at the beginning in saying that so many different videos of this nature are always showing glasses that won't exist for another 10 years or the average consumer can't even buy. Often times they're taking their old videos from 2020 or 2021 and just changing the title of the video to whatever the current year is at the time. This video on the other hand cuts through all the bullshit and gets right into the point. This video divides the different glasses into categories based on their features and various use cases. Additionally, talking about glasses that are adjacently related to AR glasses helped me consider that maybe I don't even want another VR headset and maybe just want MR or HUD glasses. Hell, this video even showed types of glasses that I wasn't aware existed, like the transcription glasses. The glasses project that you are working on that provides real-time information during conversations sounds cool as all hell also. The only thing that I could have seen adding to this video was including price points for many of these items, but some of these glasses don't provide an upfront price range (like the Snap Next Generation) so I can't even complain or fault you for it. This type of content delivery on RU-vid really has become rarer over time and I see that your sub count is around 600 right now (which in all honesty deserves to be higher in my opinion), but you will definitely see a massive increase in the coming months alone, and even years if you keep this up. That is a fact. I appreciate the work and research put into this video, and look forward to the next one. A definite subscriber right over here.
Great content, thanks! There's massive synergy potential with smart glasses and PKM systems like Obsidian. Open source is the way. Excited for the future
@@caydengineer I guess the main thing is closing the loop, making it more accessible. I can get deep flow states notes making and recalling, that lets me connect ideas better. Being able to do that throughout the day, not just in front of a screen could help deepen understanding and structure thoughts better. If the system is with you all the time it'd be a lot easier to make it a part of your thinking process
Also, I was developing a magnetoreception wearable a while ago and just realised smart glasses may be the ideal mounting point for that... Always thought of it being body mounted, but seems a lot neater if it's related to where your head is pointing. Miniaturisation would be tricky, I got the pcb down to 35x25mm, one sided. It includes all the charging circuitry though, so it could be significantly smaller if piggybacking off glasses power
Yes I agree re. PKMS. Checkout that memory tools video, as a first step towards smart glasses PKMS. Hey, cool idea with magnetoreception on glasses. You should checkout the Open Source Smart Glasses repository and join our discord (discord link in README): github.com/CaydenPierce/OpenSourceSmartGlasses
Thank you for this clear concise and illustrative cross section in the VR, AR, XR jargon soup - smart glasses. I'm Interested in all these Smart Glasses applications, but in the short term (as this is going to be my first set of Smart Glasses), I want productivity glasses. Or, I think I do - the virtual displays in physical space seems interesitng, but I hope by going with something like the Lenovo I won't be limited to that. I may actually prefer the heads up so that I can freely move about and not have to worry about the orientation of my body or head while continuing to focus on the application I'm currently interacting with. I have an esoteric use case which may or may not be useful to others : Though all of these Augmented Reality (AR) use cases are really compelling, I have an old skillset that includes touchtyping at 50-100WPM depending on what I'm doing, and I increasingly need to be more ergonomic. Ergonomics is fun and games in our 20s and 30s. But longer term, I really believe ergonomics vision is lost without a paddle. We physically aren't much different than when we were hnters and gatherers. We are going to be happier waking around upright, looking around, occasionally squatting, sitting or reclining, reaching, climbing, etc.. In essence I think this is what ergonomic really means. By definition sitting and typing are not ergonomic. So I'm focusing on some novel ways to mount split keyboards to my sides such that I can type in a relaxed way. My pie in the sky vision would be to have a physical keyboard follow my hands around in space so that I can type while moving around without having to orient myself to a stationary keyboard. Thanks for your patience in my long comment. I'm leaning toward the Lenovo, but I need to find out more about what options there are to work with a plain old Windows machine. Seems TCL, Madgaze and Epson may be players. I hope to try your open source glasses, but I have to focus on 1 thing at a time. Thanks for this video!!
Best description and detailed coverage of current and possible glasses. I am looking for glasses like HUD types that show info but don't always take up large amount of the field of view. I want to use them for translating languages in real time, AR directions for GPS and mapping use and screen calls and display texts. To do all these hands free and in a lightweight low profile package is my dream. If they could also display large format screen for viewing videos/TV etc and be used for AR and VR games even better but those features are less important for me.
That sounds awesome! Best bet right now is probably the Vuzix Shield, but we still don't have glasses that can do everything you need in a light and small form factor - should be coming soon though (other than the VR).
Gentleman you are young but you are doing a fantastic job. I may suggest your opensource project to my boss. Right now I have a question. I have been working wiht low vision, or vision impaired people for a while. I would like to know if there is at least one smart glasses that can be plugged so that to display the notebook, tablet pc, or desktop pc screen onto the lenses. As a matter of fact up to today we zoom up on the monitor or the notebook screen. I fancy that a smart glasse screen would greatly improve the productivity of my student. I have been very much impressed by your video and I am looking forwardt to hearing form you soon. Again thnaks for your valuable contribution
Use case for me would be translation and teleprompter type features for public speaking. Aside from taking pictures, I think those two are the most useful for business or regular people.
I wouldn't really call them smart glasses, but I think Dusk, the first electrochromic glasses are also worth checking out! I thought they were pretty cool when I tried them
Yeah, those look good! Although I can't agree with the claim that they're "first" - shutter shades of all kinds have been around for a while! But maybe these are the first consumer facing, slim and sleek electro-chromatic glasses.
Hello and thank you for your video, that helps a lot! Three things there are, I am still wondering and maybe you can help me with that: Why are so many smart glasses shaded? Is that an aesthetic thing? Does it help the display, is it 'better'? Hide the monitors or so?! Second: I searched a bit to find something for my needs and there are glasses for under 100 and over 900 Dollars/Euros on the market. Either I did not get a point (yet), or I do not know. Third: Power and source. In some reviews it is said, some glasses 'do not have their own power supply'. Does that mean, I always have to have a constant cable to my phone? I want to have glasses, that wirelessly provide me with calendar, weather, mails, messages and maybe in calm areas a film, YT or such. I am not sure about a product, but I will follow you, because you video was helpful! Thank you!
Glasses are shaded because the display technology relies on it, or because the display would be too dark otherwise. Inmo Air, Engo 2, Nreak Air, etc. is in between the ranges you specified. Yes, some glasses have no battery of their own and require constant tethering to a smart phone.
Excellent overview. What I am looking for are 'glasses' which can be used as a remote viewfinder when using video/still cameras. Suggestions? Thanks...
Im looking for AR glasses for navigation any additional features i consider a bonus, but my main priority is that I can use them with google maps. Reason why is sometimes Google maps will say "head north", but then it's hard to tell which way is north on a cloudy day unless there's am arrow to guide you. Are there any available that are relatively reliable & won't break the bank?
Great video, very clean and informative. I stumbled into a release article about the ESSNZ Berlin from TOOZ but i can't help feeling it's too good to be true. Simple notification display coupled with voice assistant, and prescription glasses friendly (massive point for me). Are you familiar with this brand ? ...there's a catch, right ? Haha. It looks like they are still only available to developpers and we're still years from commercial distribution but it makes one dream.
They are pretty amazing. The "catch" that I know of right now is they haven't made it to the market and the visual experience is pretty bad. Also check out the Ultralite from Vuzix. Also see other videos on my channel about smart glasses.
Great video, I am currently using the bose frame tempo. What would be the best solution for me is to combine the bose frame tempo with the nreal air for both business/work related. Hopefully vuzix blade 2 and or inmo 2 can do this when it comes out.
My business case is i own 3 retail businesses in the same department. When one business is busy or staff shortages, I turn on my video camera on my phone and help the other store and run back when a customer come in the first store etc. Working in a cafe store while looking at my phone for my other store is very cumbersome. The Bose frame tempo (with prescription) is great for talking handsfree for taking orders etc. I have the original Vufine which I found it is too small but might try it on the bose frame. I also have the Google glass enterprise 2 but lack of software is sitting there collecting dust. I am also looking at the Vuzix m400c as an add on to my tempo when it come out
Hmm nice. Loved the video. Not mixing buckets on head with glasses is so rear 😂. Didn't knew there's so many "categories" very interesting! Hope for update by the end of the year with new releases. Great video and new sub.
I have myopia and what I’m looking for is some of these glasses to use for driving to help me focus/zoom on signs & of course to help my myopia with an exact zoom
Hi Cayden, I loved your video. It's a no nonsense piece, packed with info. I came across it while looking for a pair of smart glasses to help me see as I have extremely dry eyes. I understand this is an ever increasing issue we are facing today. My eyesight changes frequently through out the day (depending on how dry my eyes get) and naturally corrective prescriptions are static and don't work. Any thoughts on which of the tech you reviewed I should check out? Thanks so much.
Not sure if smart glasses are going to help with this. Some ideas might be: - eye drops - e-ink monitor/tablet for reading - play with screen lighting (as dim as possible without causing eye strain)
If you just want to be stationary and read, I'd get an ereader (I have Meebook P10 - it's insane). Reading books is not a strong suit of today's lightweight smart glasses.
If you want to just write software, then most of them support third party apps. If you want to hack hardware... Then probably the OpenSourceSmartGlasses project.
@@caydengineer I want to not be cucked by huge corporations that delivers hardware and software in without any drivers avaliable so you can only use their API/framework or wait for somebody better than me to use reverse enginering to run linux on it. I wish that their wouldn't lock us in theirs shitty ecosystem like this happened with phones.
I known what you mean. Early smart glasses that are all day wearable will probably be microcontroller based, which is less scary privacy-wise even if not open.
We tried the Microsoft HoloLens in a production floor (assembly) environment and they failed miserably. They overheated, battery life was next to nothing and they broke ...as in plastic pieces fell off. We are looking for the ability for motion or voice recall of step by step instructions, video and pics of what we are assemblying to reduce the upskilling time of our assemblers. The AR software vendor we used was OK, but seemed burdensome. Great video and good information. Thanks.
Yes hololens is a bit rough for use cases in the real world. It's much more realistic for research. What exact use cases are you going for? I filming, you can get by something much slimmer and lighter. I'd suggest trying to alibaba/aliexpress "camera glasses" and find one that works well for you. If you need a display, consider something like the Vuzix Blade 2 or Inmo Air. They won't give you immersive MR, but it doesn't sound like you need it.
I like the Vuzix the best because it looks like they will accommodate both eyes just the right eye. That's the problem I have with a lot of the smart glasses out there right now. They only want to focus on one eye to display to. What about the people that have vision problems in the eye that the display is in. So when they start displaying in both eyes that's when I will seriously look into smart glasses.
Great video. I'm looking into screen smart glasses. The lenovo a3 are too expensive for me. Any suggestions well under $1k, preferably under $500? I'm looking into the rokid max. Have you tried them?
Hey man thank you so much for this video please keep posting more videos this is an interesting technology that will make our life easier and better besides this we need a detailed video about vuzix shield I heard they re amazing thanks again
Thank you! I would also love to know more about the Shield, unfortunately they're still massively delayed. I'm not planning on making a video with them until after they're released and I have a pair.
That was good for someone who does not keep up to date with this topic, like myself. One question, I wear glasses, I can't do contacts. How do glasses work with these devices?
Thanks! Many of these glasses support prescription inserts, so you can slide your prescription lenses in and use them like that. Usually you'll have to buy specially made prescription inserts which can get expensive. Some third parties offer prescription inserts or lens swaps for smart glasses.
When I think about considering buying a smart glasses, I'd look for these 2 things: 1. Ability to simulate screens properly: A PC/Laptop screen like an extended multi-monitor setup (fixed position). And ability to show your mobile screen on your dynamic POV. Transparency options will be a plus. 2. Form factor. It should be light, as mentioned, under 100 grams in weight, it shouldn't look obviously bulky and wide. I'd really hate the magnetic look from the passerbys. Just because it'd be light doesn't mean it'll be okay to have less battery life, I'd like it to have at least 6-8 hours of usage per 100% charge. Finally, I can't pay $2000 for a glass. The budget I'll keep in mind will be around $300 to $500. Hoping to finally see a relevant smart glass this year (2023)
@@caydengineer When I mentioned the screen part with Dynamic POV, I was hoping for a feature where a person can wear the glasses, an app like Google Maps will overlay like an AR application which will have a position on the glass that sticks to your head movement (a fixed position ON the glass). The gyroscope related overlay is too shakey and it feels weird to focus on the application that tries to place something in front of you. The fixed placement on the glass will help driving with navigation easier. Also, there are some AR apps that helps people navigate routes like finding the Airport terminals. This will be a very useful hardware to integrate with apps like that. Apart from this, a 1080p screen projection for computer related work will be great. Instead of buying 2 monitors, one can get the glasses and use it as extended monitor to code or edit videos etc. Even use it as on-the-go multiscreen setup. I don't know how the glasses will communicate with the laptop/pc to position the screen etc. I think Nreal Air is doing it, I'll look into it. The pricing is a little difficult for me to understand, because I believe most manufacturers (including the team Open Source) will focus on delivering the product with most features, rather than the "less features - less cost" combination. For example, I'd only want glasses with screen projection and inbuilt battery (No camera, no speakers etc). But the customer base for this won't be as big compared to a piece of hardware that'll do much more including the mentioned. Manufacturers too can't afford to make hardware with less features to cater a small segment of market. I hope we will get to see at least a couple of different variations in the smart glasses domain. Thanks for hearing me out ❤️
Google map overlay would be awesome for when you're driving/walking and looking for an unknown destination. Even for linking with a specific program such as a nav guide for people wandering around foreign places like hospitals or a home depo store like costco or bunnings. *Where you can enter the product/service you're looking for and a waypoint will take you straight to it, no more asking staff which isle or floor a particular item/service is located. It could even be paired with the stores website, so yo search the item/s you want and add them to your cart and upon entering the store, the carts contents que up a shopping list with directions to each item displayed on the smart glasses screen. QR codes of items could be scanned and product info/description/specs coild ve provided to the user in an instant.... Imagine the convenience when shopping for house paint related items, knowing which product is compatible with which other products and which tools/applicators/cleaning agents are required for each product.... The possibilities are endless. Please don't sell out to a closed source manufacturer..... Don't let Meta do to AR/XR what DJI did to UAV/UAS (drones)...
Great video, I really cant wait until this tech is adopted by the general public and becomes more affordable. I am smart glasses user and can see many uses for them. I can't wait to see a pair of AR?HUD glasses integrated with AI assistance and will be able to understand hand gestures like the Oculous Quest 2 witout being as bulky as a vr headset.
Same here. The current landscape is looking promising that we start getting glasses that can provide real value at a reasonable form factor late this year (2023) or early next year.
Great Overview. I am a designer looking at creating UX experiences in AR for enterprise solutions but confused in which pair of AR glasses to purchase? Some of the gear you mention is the cost of a small motorbike! Do you have any suggestions on what is a great mid range pair to commence with ? Cheers mate!
I reccomend selling your motorbike and buying a Vuzix Shield. Which one depends on your use case and requirements. Vuzix Blade 2, XREAL Air, etc. are decent.
I wear one daily and it works great! Just kidding. I think it's an incredible vision and they've made an impressive amount of progress. I don't know tons about Mojo but I think this tech is many (10+) years away. They'll probably require you to wear glasses for some time as well to wirelessly power the lens. A major issue, I think, it that the compute, sensors, etc. aren't in a contact lens - just the display, at least for a long time. That means that you still need smart glasses for a LONG time, until you can fit display, camera, microphones, power, radio, etc. into a contact lens. By the time that is possible, brain sensing + stimulation will be so useful that we'll have some kind of thing on our head anyway for that... That said, contact lenses are coming. The ideal position for a display to the eye is on the eye. The line between glasses, contact lenses, and brain computer interfaces is a blurry one - it's all an information pipeline into and out of the human brain. We've some past steps - computers, laptops, smart phones. Next is likely smart glasses and earables. After that, contact lenses. After that, brain computer interfaces. I don't mean to claim this as perfectly linear, but I suspect it will follow this order in terms of the points at which we achieve mainstream adoption as the main portal for computer use.
Hi, I always run into problems to film the videos by myself alone for my youtuber videos especially when I try to film videos on how to repair or troubleshoot electrical instruments or mechanical components. Is there any reliable spectacle that comes with integrated camera so that I can film my videos hands-free, first person view videos? I can not hold my mobile phone while at the same times filming while i am demonstrating live hands-on troubleshooting. Sometimes, using phone stand unable to solve the problem because i may need to move around while filming. Thanks
Personally I'd go on Alibaba and buy some "camera glasses" or "spy glasses" that save to an SD. Check reviews, as many of them have quite grainy cameras, but some work well. You could also always go for a GoPro on a headband. Checkout the Ray-Ban Stories or Snap Spectacles for a more consumer-ready device. These have limitations in terms of access the data and record times.
Hi, first of all thanks for pushing a future product that is apparently not profitalble yet cos very few know about this. I checked the Vuzix Shield, and I love it, cable free, max specs, smart looking.but they themselves insist it’s not for consumers and have eaven drawn apps that they have on their cheaper sets, and the blade monocular and doesn’t fit in a pocket, and the other only option I see is the Inmo Air 2 that in the presentation was aparantly starting production end November and delivery in march, they seems consumer friendly and has your approval on the first version 😊, and meanwhile see what happens in tech congress though new launches will probably take too long for me. The tech is there, it seems they are all waiting for something to happen. I’m a hud glasses guy, but can’t wait to try my frieds gaming glasses Dream Glass flow that he just bought, though don’t think it has any data possibility. Thanks again and hope to see you in the H2O meetup 15th I’m determined to assist though it’ll be 3 am over here.
Thanks! Sounds good. I can't agree that "the tech is there" - no one has a smart glasses you can wear all day with physical and social comfort. You mention the Inmo Air 2 and Vuzix Shield - while awesome, they're far from the being everything we need and they are still unreleased. There is a lot work to be done before we can say "the tech is there".
Is there a type of glasses that will allow me to see what's behind me? I live in Chicago & I'd like the ability to see who's behind me. I've seen "spy glasses" but they are cheap and almost a toy. Are there any smart glasses that would allow me to see behind me hopefully? 🙏🏼
Smartglasses I'm interested in: should look like spectacles/sunglasses, have displays and a camera that can enhance low light at least like a smartphone. That's basically it, a bit of night vision in low light conditions or with a discrete IR flashlight. I've seen something like that as a DIY item for hunters (with a gun mounted camera), but never as something ready to buy (at least not recently - there were MultiVision2 glasses back in the VGA era that did fit the bill).
That's a great use case. It's pretty difficult though - you're asking for HD thermal vision (HD camera are large and heavy) and binocular, high resolution, high FOV mixed-reality displays, all in a form factor that looks like regular glasses. I don't expect that type of thing for 5+ years, minimum. However, an IR-sensitive camera with a small viewfinder that is limited thermal vision could be achieved much sooner in that form factor.
@@caydengineer Oh, no. I mean something like in this video but in spectacle form factor: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iyZcKewSqEQ.html Thermal vision (even low res like some cellphone cameras already have) would be great, but I would be more than happy with just a simple camera output on a bright screen in glasses/sunglasses. A camera like a regular cell phone camera - able to increase brightness / contrast / ISO. As far as I understand most digital cameras already detect infrared light sources (unless they have IR filters). The DIY I don't know much about smartglasses, maybe that's something already available. Basically, I'm nightblind and at sunset I can see much more on my smartphone than otherwise (when the sun then is fully down, the smartphone sees nothing, but probably would still work decently with any IR light source). I want to be able to walk my dog at late afternoon / evening without drawing too much attention to me (not keen on strapping a headset to my face or blasting away with a bright flashlight). Are devices like that already available in a discrete form factor?
Hi I m from Portugal and I need a smart glass that can have britless and contrast, because I m right eye blind and I saw only 1/10 on left eye, but with the iphone canmera I can see and I m autonomus. Are there any smart glass with that issue? Tks
Hey Alfredo. I think eSight it designed for your use case: esighteyewear.com/ Also see this list: irisvision.com/electronic-glasses-for-the-blind-and-visually-impaired/
@@caydengineer Tks I ll see. I suppose íris glasses are the one. I can see with the screen of my iPhone, but I need a support ( glasse) that transmite in my left lense, of the glasse, the image of the environment as the image in iPhone, with zoom, contrat and britless
When do you need to use it? XRAI.Glass should work for an out of the box experience. Vuzix Blade 2 with the right app (there are a few options) should work as well.
Have worn glasses since I was 12 for nearsightedne4sss. A few years ago had a sudden loss of central vision that the doctors are now linking to a DNA disorder. I still have a large part of my vision however am not comfortable driving for the distance portion. I still wear corrective lenses either glasses or contacts. Is there a product that could increase my distance so I can be comfortable driving?
INMO Air AR Glasses, Smart Glass vs Nreal Air AR Glasses which would be better for interfacing with my steam deck and smartphone to play video games and watch videos on the go I don't know if the INMO Air AR Glasses can even interface with my steam deck and I would like to know before I purchase them since it's a big purchase
I wouldn't recommend the Inmo Air for movies or gaming. For those use cases, you're going to want higher resolution and reasonable FOV, which isn't provided with slim "all-day" smart glasses right now. Nreal Light/Air, Lenovo ThinkReality A3 might be your best bet. I don't think any have native Steam support, but you should be able to mirror your desktop on the glasses as an additional monitor.
Hello, interesting video ! I'm a developer and i want smart glaces that are fully programable. I want to be able to trigger any kind of command and display just by voice and not rely on a heavily pre defined interface. Do you have any recommandation ? :)

Christmas and my birthday are right around the corner I was wondering what glasses are best (300-500 budget) I want something that can cast a device to the glasses, but also be able to do things like a phone, calculator, maps, weather, ( also if you know anything compatible with a Nintendo switch that would be great. I know im probably reaching for something that doesnt exist at this price range yet, but if there is something I would be very happy
Larger headset like Hololens. Lightweight smart glasses don't currently have eye tracking as it requires large and power hungry IR cameras. Future glasses will use very simple cameras or specialized ultra low power eye tracking ICs.
I'm in the market for a pair. Don't need much but I wanna be able to read messages, mails, music is not a must but if I can get I won't say no. Navigation is also apreciated.
Great question. I actually have no idea for this one. Vuzix Shield has dual cameras but you'd have to write custom software to get it going stereoscopic. It's rare that today's smart glasses have 2 camera at all, and none of them AFAIK support stero photo/video.
Love to talk about the open source smart glasses - need an HMD solution for first responders and current solutions are suboptimal. Could you drop me a line?
Great information, could you help me find a pair that would help me do my job a little bit better, I give briefings (6 hours at a time) and I have to recite/read over 200 pages of text. A pair of smart glasses that would show me the text on the lens in a PDF format would be awesome. But I have not been able to find any company that has done that yet.I am purchasing this out of my own funds as my company will not back this type of product just yet. So any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
It would be helpful if you described in far greater detail what the task is. Does it need to be mobile? Can it be tethered? Do you have to talk to others while you recite? Or could you just obfuscate your face/eyes? There's lots of AR, VR, and HUD devices that you could view PDFs on.
Thanks for the request! I will try to put something like that together. It's hard to choose an "ultimate" anything, as I don't think we'll need glasses any more in 20 years. BUT I will do this for some timeline, like 2033. In the meantime, here's a big list of smart glasses use cases I made: smartglasses.community/smart-glasses-use-cases/ And here's some future prediction art: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-62BtPJD7i0k.html
I wish to see new feature of smart glasses with Cam that can utilize AI to translate the hand moves of " deaf mute " person and I hope technicians build a glossary for each " deaf mute " language in the world I hope also that the proper " deaf mute " glossary can be selected by user.
Only used Bose's Alto and while both pairs that I owned broke, in spite of that fragility, I love them. I will not buy another pair as for the price I expect design that lasts past one year.
Oppo Glass 2 is looking great and very excited to get my hands on that. However it was only announced in the last days of 2022 (after this video was made) and has not yet launched.
Hi, great video,, i'm looking for glasses that i can wear on stage, the main purpose is for reading lyrics while i sing and play guitar, glasses by bluetooth that can link from my phone the lyrics, which glasses would you recommend?..btw glasses that dont look weird more like ordinary glasses similar to the vusix..
Hey thanks! Awesome use case. Yes, we all want glasses that don't look weird. In terms of what exists today, you'd be looking at the Vuzix Blade and Inmo Air. You'd probably want to use a teleprompter app to display the lyrics. You could also look at the ActiveLook glasses (e.g. Engo 2) if you or your team can develop software for this use case.
I don't want smart glasses that over lay info on my vision.... I'm visually impaired, and all I want are a pair of smart glasses with a camera that allows me to zoom in on objects, and have that projected on my vision. I'm zooming in on things with my phone all the time, but it would be fkn awesome to have a good looking pair of smart glasses that I can use for that task. Does anything like that exist?
@@caydengineer I have actually checked out eSight, NuEyes, and several others… but they all look totally hideous in my opinion😅 I’m not comfortable as a young person wearing a huge bulky machine on my head lol
PLEASE HELP. I want to connect a phone to a pc (ie via team viewer) to leverage computing power then connect extension display to phone (preferably not to mirror but to extend the display) and view pc feed here finally I want to use a "blind/touch typing for touch screens" software for phones i created to remotely control the pc the software is pretty awesome btw - providing above 40 wpm without watching the screen with one finger only (has a learning curve) main question is can any glasses extend opposed to mirror a phone display when connected to one?
Hi Cayden, brilliant video, we need more of them ! And actually I would be more than grateful if u could help me find a pair of smartglasses....I simply need to "screen mirror" my iphone/Ipad !! I do not need to activate anything - or "enter" something. It is simply seeing the iphone screen inside the glasses. And then of course I would be very pleased if the glasses looks super smart...e.g. like the solos glasses...wifi or bluetooth preferred, but otherwise usb...Thanking you very much in advance. best regards John, Copenhagen Denmark
Thanks John! Happy to help. I'll need a bit more info to help, thought. What content will you be viewing? How long do you plan to wear them? Do you need to walk around while using it? How long would the batteries need to last if you're using them untethered?
@@caydengineer Hi Cayden, I am using a Hollyland Mars X to take a HDMI signal from my (karaoke) LiveMusic box - and to the Hollyland app on my Iphone/Ipad. Then I just need that signal (that is now on the front of my Iphone) to be directed to a pair of smartglasses. I do not need to wear the glasses for 5-6 hours, but it would be very nice if it is possible - including a matching battery life... And YES, I would very much like to be able to "walk around" :)
@caydengineer Actually Cayden, when thinking of your open source glasses/kit - maybe it is more "simple" to send the HDMI signal straight to the glasses - does this sound possible ?
Hey! There's a few pairs of smart glasses that will take a direct USB-C DP HDMI signal - Nreals and Lenovos. In terms of looking like normal specs while having all those features - they don't exist yet. If you just want a good display that can mirror a screen while doing Karaoke, Vuzix Blade or Inmo Air might make sense as well.
Hey! Great info! Just arrived to this video...congrats! I would like to ask you some questions about glasses....do you have an email I can write you to? Best!
I like your ideas Cay. I have been following smart glasses since start! I got involved on google glasses and I got a pair as well the vuzix. But so far I am disappointed with all the promises and propagand but not delivering. I like the way you put down the information and comparison. I worked deeply on the metaverse virtual ans augmented reality under Oxdevice Ltd in UK. Therefore I am a serious enthusiastic contender.
I infrequently use a laptop these days as my phone is good enough for most things, even trading but I want to be able to have a virtual screen, so I can use my phone as a laptop. When a phone can do what a laptop can, and run the same software, I’ll stop using one. I use a remarkable 2 as my primary paper nowadays.
@@caydengineer Multiscreen 3D Space. I don’t have enough room for a dedicated anything. Spaces need to be flexible. Trading: being able to trade with multiple screens like a bigger “power bi” dashboard. When using illustrator i want the palettes open to the sides so i have more space, plus i like to keep distracted when drawing having a movie on i know at the same time. I also have dedicated devices for dedicated applications that don’t natively work on the same computer system but i want to use the two environments together. So being too work on a virtual environment and a native one at the same time would be helpful. In the future ar for driving in unknown locations
I dont know much tech but can you surf the internet and watch videos on the inmo air 1 same question for the xreal air can i browse internet and watch videos if so do i have to be connected to laptop or phone to browse on either glasses? In your opinion is worth to buying inmo air 1 to browse internet to watch videos or xreal air or would it be better to wait for inmo air 2 to be relesased?Sorry for all questions like i said dont know much tech dont want buyer remorse!Thankyou!
Yes you can surf the web, but it won't be a good experience as the human output/smart glasses input is limited. It depends on what you want to do... if you want to watch videos, go for the XREAL Air, you'll like them for that.
I want glasses which can open PDFs, Powerpoint presentations and so n with AI technology. Can you recommend anything like that which is available in Japan? Updated ones
