If you use the hub with matter on HA, does it use cloud polling? Or can everythint be done locally without an internet connection? Thabks for the vid, very helpful.
I have added aqara u100 lock to google home and alexa through G3 camera hub over matter. I am able to lock/unlock and manage temporary users but i can't manage general users and fingerprints remotely. That is a very huge drawback as i wanted to manage my tenants remotely.
Thanks for watching - yes unfortunately you can do pin numbers from Homekit, but if you want fingerprints it only works locally - I think part of that is security as they talk about how fingerprint access is only stored on the lock itself - so that would be a hard claim to make if you were able to add/update via the cloud. - thanks for watching.
I am still playing with it trying to find a way - in theory it should be possible! The hub works well, but I agree less hubs would be great! - thanks for watching!
Yes, I am using mine with voice control from Google, and Alexa - not sure about the NFC, I believe it will, but not 100% on that one. I will see if I can get one of my pixels booted up and check! - thanks for watching!
I have not - but planning to setup a U50 soon - I will see if that works - I can't imagine they limited themselves to one lock per house - that would be crazy for them to do! LOL! - I will give it a try soon! - thanks for watching!
I am currently using homekit or the Aqara app - homekit allows for home key and the Aqara app allows for fingerprints - but they all seem to sync up fine. - thanks for watching.
@@yoyoTechKnows Users/PINs don’t seem to be syncing between Aqara and HomeKit. Based on this video ( 8:34 ) it should be possible… how did you get it to work?
Can someone advise what protocol the locks use to communicate with HomeKit. And is it correct that an Aqara hub is not needed for the locks to be operated with HomeKit?
@@yoyoTechKnows Thanks! That means they are communicating via Bluetooth? I guess that's why the lock that is a bit further from the Apple TV hub is constantly dropping in and out of an available status? Half the time it shows as No Response.
I agree its a pain - I keep doing trying to see if I can find another way - hopeful with the matter side of things. Its been a great lock all the same and I use homekit to manage most of the time. - thanks for watching!
Yes, it tells you which user unlocked the door, I have only been able to get it working with the Aqara hub in HA - but it works well - going to give it a try with the new matter updates to see if that helps! - thanks for watching!
This lock is buggy - I have two of them and with both, the keypad becomes unresponsive after a while. To fix the issue, you need to pull the batteries to reboot the unit. Lots of reviews on Amazon complaining about unresponsive keypad.
I have not had that issue with mine, but doesn't mean others don't. I would check to make sure you have all the updates, and reach out to support - if you have a buggy unit they may be able to help! - Hope you find a solution and Thanks for watching!
@@yoyoTechKnows Yes, I've two RMAs, there are also lots of complaints on Reddit, apparently the lock "freezing up" is a common issue. I'm not sure if it is related to the manufacture date or something else. The locks I had issues with were built before September 2023.
@@yoyoTechKnows In case anyone else is wondering: I confirmed I was able to bind the lock with the E1 HUB, add the HUB to Matter and lastly control the lock and also view the logs as in your demonstration. Please ensure that the lock and HUB is running the latest firmware version.
This lock is actually pretty lousy. It chews through batteries like no other lock I've had before. If you use it natively in HomeKit you lose fingerprint functionality.
Strange, I would check that your firmware is up to date - I have used it a minimum 5 times a day for the last 3 months and my battery is still showing as "high" I would guess at least 80% - for me thats not too bad! - anyway hope you find a solution for yours - thanks for watching!
