The question I have is is there a camera that does what Veo or Trace do, maybe not even the AI, just the camera I can set up that can cover the entire field and I don't have to pay a subscription? Even better would be if it had software that allowed me to track the field. I don't mind watching the entire game in widescreen and then moving the zoomed in picture to follow the ball. I'm pretty sure that's too much to ask, but the main thing is a camera that don't have to pay a subscription for. The subscriptions are so expensive unless you're paying for it as a club. But I want to use it for all my kids who are in different sports. Baseball, basketball, soccer, even cross-country. Anyway I'm a super excited to follow alone on your channel and watch you examine each camera and let us know how they stack up against each other
Pix4team. The problem is the software isn't tracking the best as i saw from examples. It follows the group but no the ball all the time. If they could sort this out it could be amazing
Hi JP & Marko, yes the Pix4Team sounds like it's the closest to what you're looking for. My trouble with that solution so far is that the battery either won't charge or wont hold a charge. I've been trying to get a new battery or charger from the company for a while now but no luck to date. The only way I could get it to work is by plugging it into power but most of our club teams don't play on fields with outlets on the sideline. Hopefully I get that resolved soon
@@EasySportsVideo Thanks for the information Ben. Question: Pix4Team camera has a way to update firmware? If it's having problems tracking, can the company give updates to allow it to get smarter? For me I have a portable battery that I use for camping. I often bring it out to long events so I can have things charging off of it, but it also has 12 volt outlets that I can plug in a normal cable. That is a hassle for bringing another device. I'm just very surprised that there is not something that looks like the Veo that sole job is just to record locally similar to a GoPro. Until then, I think I will start building a setup similar to what @Jeremy Halbert has on his RU-vid page. Downside of that is I have to manually manage the camera every single game. Hopefully the Pix4Team will get back to you.
@@verticalgambit Yes, there's an ethernet port and you can use the app to update the firmware for Pix4Team. It has a battery that attaches to the robot, trouble is that battery either isn't charging or the robot isn't able to use it. Only way it works for me is to plug into power. I imagine what you're looking for will eventually exist, someone is probably working on it now : )
Great! I am soon buying a Veo or a Pixellot and can't decide after watching different examples and reading people's experiences. Was planning to maybe buy both so i can make my own pick but it is amazing that you will make this process for me. The things that i have "sort of" established are: - Both are similar in terms of video quality - Pixellot has better fluidity in terms of frame rate (Veo has micro-stutters more often and that is annoying), Veo probably has more framerates (like 29 fps an Pixellot has like 25 fps but it is more "stabile" which is in the end better - Pixellot has good auto zoom ability and you can see the action better, but it often loses it's focus and the camera gets really floaty So just looking at these video examples i can't say which one is superior, both have strengths and weaknesses...
I have the Pixellot camera that I purchased this year. I have been quite disappointed in the video quality. To a point where its almost embarrassing when the video gets shared. The quality of the videos seem to be 360P or less. Games are horrible to watch when you stream it to your TV. I hope this video will show the differences as I am considering changing brands.
Hi Marko, you make a good point. It is tough to say which is best, it's really more about which is the best fit based on what's most important to a team. The question I often get is phrased as "which is the best soccer camera" but the most helpful answer is probably helping teams understand which one is the best fit based on their criteria. They're all different so its kind of like comparing apples to oranges in some cases, hopefully this will help you out as we go through it.
@@Ee-zd2tv well i don't know. I was sent 4 examples by their representatives and it is available in 260p-1080p. So it should be the same for all recordings. When you change the quality to 1080p it is very much satisfying.
@@EasySportsVideo Yes, great i am very curious for your end conclusion. And of course their software is constantly improving so hopefully they will be better and fix their weaknesses when the time passes. We are literally in the beginning with this technology which i think for sure will be the future in some aspects, even in the top sports and leagues.
Using VEO 2 and very happy. Battery issue - camera whose replaced and very helpful customer service. So far so good. But let as know other option for future.
great to see everyone talking sports video here! I am happy to provide insight into the Spiideo system if anyone has questions (FYI I work for Spiideo so might be a little biased - but not too much ha)
Thanks for conducting comparison tests. We have been looking at the Pix4team for our small regional soccer club but we are a bit reluctant to purchase as of yet based on what we have seen/heard online. Am interested to see how these perform in night time games as we play late afternoon/night under 100-150 lux.
Thanks for the feedback, we'll be sure to look at night games. Unfortunately we're having an issue with the battery on the Pix4Team not charging so having to send it back for diagnosis. Once we get it back we'll record a night game with it.
Hi Ben, can you please do a review on another option I found, its call Once Autocam. Its software that edits the video you have taken of a game and makes it look like the camera is tracking the ball. Looks good on the website, I think the bonus here might be that you can use your existing camera. Thanks Matt.
Hi Matt, sorry about that. Sure, I'll take a look at it. I have a list of other cameras and solutions that aren't featured in this video that I'm looking at so I'll add this one.
Hi Ben! these videos have been really helpful! our club team is looking into buying Veo or Pixellot, what we are looking for mostly is good video quality, which one would you say has better quality? Thank you for your insights! Delighted to watch your videos :)
Hi Ariadna, sorry for the delay in the results. I had a health issue slow me down, the latest edition looks at both Pixellot and Veo - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tu_7Trz7Pi8.html
I have the VEO 1 and I'm mostly happy but I am looking for better resolution and also a better zoom (for the far end of the pitch) I'm intrigued to know how the other cameras compare before I consider making my upgrade
Hi Linus, it seems most of the automated sports cameras lose resolution when they zoom since it's a digital zoom vs an optical zoom. I did a game with the Veo, Pixellot, and Trace last night. I'll share some clips once I get them all downloaded.
@@EasySportsVideo I would be super curious to see this as well, thank you! We have a Veo 1 and a Veo 2. I think the resolution is far better on the Veo 2. My biggest struggle is with with the tripod....it is huge. We try to have families take turns taking the system to the game and if you don't have a large enough car it is difficult to safely transport the Veo tripods. I'd be curious to see the size of the Trace tripod (looks like it breaks down smaller??) and how that compares as what you have to take with you each game is a large factor in my opinion.
Could you compare the relative focal lengths of the different platforms? For instance, the Veo cam 2 is zoomed in further than the original Veo. This means I have to have it further away and/or not up as high above the pitch to capture the entire field including the nearest sideline. This can be challenging at tournaments where the fields are close and adjacent. I use a tilt head with the cam and it helps a bit.
Hi Umesh, I didn't know they had one a portable solution. I don't see a place on their site to order one, I'll look into it. Thanks for letting me know.
I haven't heard the greateat things about VEO 1, and marginally better feedback about v2, so am hoping to, try out / rent a Trace unit for a.momth to see if its any better. Will you be renting those too? Honestly, some of these prices are absolutely absurd though.
Hi Matthew, I think it makes sense to try it out before you buy to see if the camera meets your needs. Right now the only one we're renting is the Veo since we have those on hand. We only have 1 each of the other cameras and are still evaluating them but will rent them once we're done
Sure thing. I've been wanting to do this for a while but it's costly and time consuming so finally now getting around to it. Enough people have asked us enough times that I figured it was time to get started
Is there a system that allows you to see heat maps or movements live on an app while still recording game in order to give live feedback on performance
There are systems that give you live analysis capabilities on the sideline but they're in a different price range, often used by bigger programs with bigger budgets
can you tell me the disadvantages of pixellot over other cameras or technology of other companies. I am making a project where i could really use your insight. Thank you.
Hi Saarthak, I'm still in the middle of evaluating the cameras, taking longer than I anticipated to be thorough. But I'm going to create a page where I post regular updates. If you have specific questions you can email me, ben@easysportsvideo.com
Hi Ben, Do you still rent out cameras? I am looking for a camera to use for livestreaming Basketball tournaments. In fall I will be looking for volleyball tournaments. Do you rent out the Pix4Team? I can't find anything about it on your site? How many pix4team robots do you have?
Hi James, yes we do rent out the cameras still. Sorry, I'm launching a new section of the site that has more info on the rentals but it's not quite ready. Yes, I do have Pix4Team for rent. Might be easier to call or email so I can answer your questions - 816-398-8846
Hi Jeff, what age group are you recording? I'm actually coming up with a checklist to help narrow it down based on your team and your needs. You can email me, ben@easysportsvideo.com
We haven't used them all yet but we'll see which ones do and which don't. I know that Veo shows a score overlay on the recording if you have Analytics and you confirm the halves. I've heard that one is coming for Veo Live but not sure when. One thing I noticed about Pixellot Air, if you're at a facility with a scoreboard, the camera finds it and shows the time/score on the bottom left of the video when you watch it back in the app. So it doesn't do it's own overlay but if there's a big scoreboard (like at a high school game on a football field) it will clip it. The resolution is pretty blurry but you can make it out.
Hi Scott, if you don't mind manually panning and zooming with your phone you don't even need a device, you can put your phone up on a tripod and follow the ball with your phone camera. That's definitely the lowest budget option. These solutions take the human element out of it so you can watch the game rather than recording and also add in other things like analytics, video editing, streaming, coaching tools. Each one offers a variation of those things, that's why we're evaluating them to see how they compare.
Do yourself a favor and buy a Pixellot instead of Veo. Completely different level of customer service. I ordered a Veo2 in Sep 2021...waited months. Never came. Then in Dec '21 I rented a Veo1 from Ben (clearly helping Veo) as my kids' games started. In late January Veo asked me to buy the Veo1 instead with promise that I would get the Veo2 when they get it. In April 2022 I setup 2 meetings to discuss with them on when I would get my free Veo2. They said they can't give it to me free and I would have to pay, even though they offered free Veo2 to everyone on Apri 25, 2022 for April. I again asked them to honor it Dec 2022 and they won't. Setup 2 calls w/ their sales rep Sarhaly Merino, she never jumped on. It's cool that companies that are innovative. Some understand customer service and some don't. The ones that don't die.
Hey Randy, it was nice working with you to get your kids games recorded. That's pretty much our goal, to help teams get footage of their players. I agree it's a good thing that there are multiple different cameras that teams can choose from because they all have their strengths and weaknesses. That's what I'm trying to help highlight with our series comparing cameras, its just taking longer than planned. I've definitely had disappointing situations with each of the camera companies I'm reviewing. Some technical, some customer service, a variety of different issues but my specific situation isn't necessarily going to happen to other teams who buy that same camera. I try and show how it works and cover the pros and cons. What might be the right camera for one team, wouldn't be a good fit for another team. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, look forward to hearing how things go with your new camera.
Hi Mike, our latest one looks at Veo, Pixellot, Trace - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tu_7Trz7Pi8.html , our next one will look at Pix4Team, Trace, and Veo
I'm looking for something I can use to record my sons games he does football basketball and baseball. Looking for something they can maybe do Auto tracking on him. Anything like that available? Need something that works up close and at a good distance
I probably won't be able to do a comparison test across all sports with all the camera systems right away. I'm starting by comparing them with soccer. I have used the Veo for recording basketball and football games. I also did a test this last summer of one baseball game and it turned out pretty well. However, the Veo tracks the ball and sounds like you're looking for something to track a player. The Trace does track players with a device they wear but right now it's only used for soccer. I don't know of an automated player tracking solution that you can use for football, basketball, and baseball. The closest you can probably get right now is to use a camera that tracks the ball and then lets you create clips of individual players. If you have more questions you can always get in touch, EasySportsVideo.com/start
Hi all, I hope to know more about the systems you have here, but I'm open to suggestions if any. Now, I am looking into a sports camera that can deliver the most stats which can be later presented to the coach and the team. Any suggestions, or advice for narrowing down the selection? - I know the Veo 2 can present quite a few things, but I believe there is no foul committed flag, any input would be great. Thank you.
Hi Nikola, I haven't dug into that level of details yet (stats generated) but I'll write it up when I get there. I know the Air has something called VidSwap that integrates with Pixellot that you can use for extra analytics, the trackers that players wear with Trace are supposed to generate player data, and Veo has an extra Analytics add-on. I'll share what I learn as I start looking at analytics.
Hi Gabe, so far I've only used the Veo for recording basketball games. We've used it for youth competitive, middle school, and high school but those were with the Veo 1. I haven't used the Veo 2 for basketball yet, I will this winter. Not all of the other cameras do basketball, the ones that do I'll test this winter as well.
@@EasySportsVideo you bet. At the end of practices we scrimmage and it gives an idea of what it looks like. I’ll let you know where we play our first game.
Hi, the point of the video was to ask coaches and parents what information they wanted included in the evaluation and comparison as we got ready to start. Here are the two videos so far - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4qzoq-SWMqo.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tu_7Trz7Pi8.html
I'm sorry you had issues with Pixellot. What sport were you recording? Were you using the Air? One thing I've noticed is that a camera might work well for one team's situation but not for another team. Always curious about the camera model, the sport, and how its used.
Hi Scott, I have been investigating how it would work to donate some of our older cameras that we use for our rentals. they are the original Veo 1 cams so teams don't like to see them when they open the box : ) they still work but look differently since they're an older model. we'll see what I can figure out
@@EasySportsVideo I mean beggars can be choosers if you have an old one that you would donate to us that would be brilliant as we have recently team up with a mental Heath charity and really want to push our socials
