Hi, awesome video! i do have one question, i have been strugling with hearing my teammates cuz of how loud the game is even tho i coppied everything the exact same way? And how loud do you set your headset with like the scroll wheel?
no clue if this would help or this is a problem any more but maybe try during the bass down and turning the voice selection up. Id assume that would increase their voices but i also dont know i just saw a ad for this and trying it out. My speakers sound crazy good now though
Set your computer's volume the same as the mixer volume and then i would recommend turning down the ambience and special effects in your games audio settings a bit. Sonar needs some work because it's not exactly the best for ambience, strong electronic sounds, and loud acoustics if not the spatial sound makes it sound worse and too harsh but i've more or less fixed it by making the volume levels the same but it still may happen. But if your game already has it's own spatial and dynamic audio turn spatial settings off. For the configuration you're using for your game sound add some more muffle to the bass using the box under the equalizer too if needed that's what that box is for, and the dot in the equalizer is your overall bass level so play around with it a little bit until you get it right. I've created my own configuration for general use because my new headphones they went way overboard with the sound and bass muffle, and the mid and high levels are wrong but can still produce amazing sound using sonar. But even after fixing it using sonar i still may have to adjust the overall bass level from -2.0 to -4.0 db because sonar boosts the sound so well at hd levels it's pretty powerful, the higher the number the more bass you add and goes up to 12.0 db which is honestly way more than enough you won't ever adjust it that high up. Even on a cheap pair of headphones though i've found it sounded the same and i definitely needed to lower the bass level in sonar, be careful not to change the frequency or won't sound right i've just kept it the way it's already set. Then once you've got your sound levels correct you should be able to hear your teammates microphones a lot better.
Mate, OMG literally the best video out there! Hands down, give this a watch. That last tip of moving your browser, in my case brave, to media... perfection!! Genuine a great video!! I used it for the Arctis Nova Pro.
would this work for in ear monitor + hyperx solo cast microphone? Should I let the configruation default if I want it for everything or is it just for a specific game?(right now my configruation for game is default)
yes this does work if it detects as a headset or mic but you know what im trying to say configuration for default is like for everything if you put it on default like discord is a good example you could selected which one to put
The answer is yes, I have the Komplete and also GoXLR interface and it works perfectly fine. Just make sure the outputs are going to where you want it. It will not do it for you, if it does not work then it is a user issue not a software/hardware issue. I also daisy chain my Schiit DAC/AMP into my interface and it still works.
Great explanation but when i changed my google chrome to media tab it didn't sound as nice or clear as the game tab. Any suggestions? You just went real low and the bass in your music went super mellow.
Learning by making own configuration you have to set the bass lower for sonar it's really intense, for my new headphones that has way too much bass and muffle -2.0 db to -4.0 db works well, i would start there and see if it's enough for your headphones. Meanwhile the gain needs to be brought up in the mid range, upper mids, and highs. For media the mid range and upper mids i those set to 8.0 db and highs 6.0 db which is perfect levels, for the games configuration i only changed the gain on the mid range. The bass box under the equalizer is for adjusting how much muffle you want but you don't need much i have that set to 3.0 db. Honestly whoever put together any of the configurations already there set the higher levels way too low it's as bad as my new headphones lol even on the gaming configurations the same, although the path of exile one is almost perfect. Sonar isn't perfect on the volume levels either so i have to turn some things down in a game like ambience and special effects or turn down a video a bit.
I just want the function to autoswitch back to Speakers (default) when I turn off my headphones, I don't get why it can't just do that automatically. That's all I need, but now I installed Steelseries GG and I have no idea what to do with it, it just seems like bloat. I'm skeptical of installing Sonar as it may be more bloat that I don't even need. Already regret installing GG on my brand new PC, even Windows updated installed something by itself called Steelseries extension... ugh I don't even understand what these apps are for, I just want to use my headset man.
im afraid now if i uninstall the software it will f things up more, and maybe not even go away fully. maybe just leave it. it has like one function, which is battery warning... at least that's useful. I dont know if Sonar is actually installed as part of it or what, because it says create account to get started with Sonar, and I havent done that. At the same time in my audio devices there are many things called "Sonar". @@selw0nk
you dont NEED the software to use the headset. the software just make it so you can customize the sound of the headset. In some situations like in Warzone you want to hear footsteps louder. the Sonar Software allows you to change the sound to make footsteps easier to hear. believe it or not it was WAY harder to do this before Sonar came out.
Settings > Sonar - Backup Device Switch > Automatic Backup Device Switch. Turn this on, drag and drop the devices in order of preference under 'Device Priority List'.
I do have a question, My GG sonar has no where on it for me to test my mic audio. I have the current version , as i have watched so many videos on this but none seems to be missing their red button as I do. am I missing something here? O don't want to turn on OBS and start streaming without testing my mic out first and making the required adjustments. Good video by the way, Defiantly need more for streaming side I feel, as their aren't all to many.
Really dope Video thanks! Question. I am having a problem with my headset. Every time I play a Fortnite match and the match ends The game audio is removed from my headset and goes to my PC speakers. In order to fix this I have to switch me headset audio between Aux and media. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
go to your settings for steelseries gg and look for the setting that automatically switches your input/output and try messing with that. or if your not using aux you can just disable it via device manager.
My headset doesn't show up on the software setup part for some reason, it only says Headphones RealTek (R) Audio. I own the Arctis 7P+ Set up your settings though so gonna try them out tomorrow.
That's how it usually works it'll play the sound through your computer's audio device which is the one with realtek audio, especially for laptops it's just going to say speakers realtek audio. Even if the sound is playing through one of sonar's mixer channels it's still playing through your computer's audio device and any headphones you connect is using it too. So you don't need to worry about that just use the mixer channels in sonar.
lol I wanna know that too. I searched on youtube for answer but no result. I just bought them today and Im stuck if I dont get an answer for that. 😅😅 I have Headphones Nova 7 / and Sonar Gaming etc...which one to use for Sound Output?
If you turned Sonar on, then it should ask you if you want to allow Sonar to set all the defaults. Say yes and it'll set that so you don't have to. If you are asking "Which option do I select in the Windows Volume Mixer", it'll always be "GAME" by default because that's the main option. It's not a bad thing, you can still open up your Volume Mixer options and change the dropdown to the other options (like Chat, Media, Aux, etc.) and change individual sliders for applications there. What Windows is trying to communicate is that the GAME "profile"/"setting" is the main setting that you'll control if you adjust the master windows volume. Aka it wants you to know that your media, aux, chat, etc. won't be affected by master volume changes unless you manually go change them yourself (which can be done easily by using the volume slider in Sonar). And if you're still lost - the Volume slider in Sonar that I'm talking about is the white square dial thing with a hyphen/dash/minus sign in it. If you drag that up and down, that will adjust Windows' master volume for that "profile". So let's say everyone on Discord is too loud, simply pull that square peg down a bit until it's manageable. That'll mean that anything else under Chat will also decrease by that amount (in case you have things like Guild, TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, etc. that also route through Sonar). Hope that helps. I'm learning too and hope I shared what I learned well enough.
whenever I talk to my people in the game via Discord, he is silent during the time when people are talking and it doesn't matter who is playing the game with me. But as soon as nobody says anything, I hear the in-game sound. Is this due to the headset or Windows? Thanks in advance
For me there is a big problem when using sonar mic option. I don't know why but half of the words it is just cutting off. Not only when using your settings, but in general when using Sonar for the microphone :/
When I give my voice to the microphone over the sonar, my voice is very distorted and interrupted. However, when I choose the headset itself instead of Sonar, my voice goes fine. In short, my voice goes distorted through Sonar. Do you know why?
So here’s my question. I’m on Xbox so If I have to flip my dongle setting to usb to test the settings in sonar. When I flip it back to Xbox will those same settings be there
I have the Arctis Nova 7x headset and the arena 7 but when I go and look under game I don't have a headset game or headset chat. What am I doing wrong?
The way it works is which apps you use in which mixer channels, so google chrome in media channel and your games in the games channel. To do this you drag the app from one channel to the other under each mixer channel, although you have to close the sonar window then reopen it before you do it because it's a bit buggy. Although you have to be playing some sort of sound through it for the app to appear under the channels. Sonar also seems to like using the gaming output as the main default in windows sound settings it just seems to be set that way to do that probably because it's mainly intended for gamers, but it doesn't effect anything because it's mainly the mixer channels you're using. My computer only uses sonars audio though while sonar is turned on in the steelseries gg settings, i would have to turn it off in order to get my computer's original audio back. For devices i think you'll probably have to manually switch it to speakers in one of the mixer channels because you have to manually change which mixer channels your apps use. Whatever apps or games you want to play through your speakers drag it to there.
I have the steel series 9x. With this the audio is fine the mic won't work what so ever i have looked at every option made sure it wa tabbed correctly ans nothing
very good video, but i will say your settings for media are kinda bad at least with my iems (specifically turning on spatial audio sucks), they wash out the audio really bad
The Engine is geared more for on the go or Console gaming, allowing you save changes to your headset. Sonar is geared towards PC Gaming. So I game on both PC and PS5. So when I am on PC, I have sonar engaged. .then when I transfer to my PS5, I open up GG software and configure changes in "Engine" and that will stay with the headset, so then I hook it to my ps5 and good to go. This video here explains it - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--FILxDJtR1U.html
Chat and mic (there will be discord icons under both) chat is were you hear your discord (and mic is for talking to discord). If your discord is set to game, you can still hear your friends but the chatmix won’t work
when im using sonar i cant move R6 from media to game where it should be so it dosen't sound right and i have fully updated not sure what to do. edit:(I just reinstalled and its working)
I have my headset plugged into a desk mic. For some reason, sonar doesn't seem to understand that so when I use sonar I get no audio at all. I'd love to use it for gaming but I can't find a way to fix it.
Just buy a pair of sony. philips, or panasonic headphones you can't go wrong with them, sonar will boost the sound of any kind of headphones. I haven't heard good things about steelseries gear to be honest.
What mic isn't mono? Don't think I've heard of any mic that isn't mono-channel already. There is a setting, if it's available, in the Sounds section of Windows, specifically under Recording.
"Volume Boost, this is where the magic happens". Uhm no. That is a simple volume booster. This is what you would use if you have everything set to max volume but you still find your headphones/speakers too soft. Don't use it unless you have to.
either fully reinstall it, or just force quit it from task manager and relaunch it, sometimes it gets stuck its very very rare, but first option works you dont even need to uninstall, just run the installer again and its all good.
@@Shaillz-you go on your computer download the software connect your headset do whatever eq you want unplug it and connect to your console and start playing
