Stay Phylis had shared this: - Chan wrote Social Path about his personal experiences becoming a K-pop star. He shared it as he thought it would resonate with others. In the MV beginning, the boys are all dealing with their fears, from Sleep Paralysis, Claustrophobia, Loneliness, fear of heights, fear of being forgotten, work anxiety, overthinking and panic attacks. It is when Chan's fear is getting the better of him that the boys band together, break down the wall and rescue him. It is only when they are all together that they can smile and enjoy their paths - A lot Stray Kids lyrics are deeper than people think. Actually, in the video, you see Chan rising like he was ascending to the heavens just before the boys broke down the wall. Chan has been very open about being in a dark place before the boys came and rescued him. Dark enough that he says without them he may not be on this earth.

Felix’ naturally deep voice with Lisa’s was chef’s kiss. The song is basically about the leader of the group’s ( Bang Chan) journey into becoming an idol. Chan left home in Australia to travel to Korea alone as a teenager to start his training and thru his years seen friends debut before him leaving him feeling bleak and dare I say depressed. Then he was given the opportunity to hand pick his members and create Stray Kids. I’m sure their fandom will be able to fill in this info better though. They are an amazingly talented group of young men.

Another gem of a collab with two styles of eastern pop music. Nicely done! LiSA was one of the first vocalist that began my journey into J & K Pop.

Have you seen Stray Kids' songs "Top" and "Slump"? They are the opening and closing songs of the anime Tower of God. Almost all of Stray Kids are huge anime fans. There is also a First Take version of Slump if you want to hear their live vocals. I am so mind-blown every time I stop to think that they write and produce all of their own music and have done from the very beginning. Three of the members are the main producing team of Stray Kids and go by 3Racha (leader Bangchan, and members Changbin and Han.) Though all of the Kids have writing credits and the others have started writing more. The members of 3Racha have over 130 credits each on KOMCA, who are the accrediting body for Korean music. Bangchan 163, Changbin 140, Han 137, which is incredible. Every year, KOMCA promotes only 25 handpicked members to full membership and this past year, all three of them gained full membership, with Han being the youngest to ever earn this incredible honour at the age of 22. Changbin was 23 and Bangchan 25. Stray Kids were an experimental group by JYP. Bangchan was made leader and allowed to pick his own members and they were pretty much left to their own devices, creating their own music, including being their own vocal directors in the recording studio. When their pre-debut album came out in 2018, Bangchan was 20, Changbin 18 and Han 17 and they wrote and produced everything. And they were prolific. Not much money was thrown at them in their first years for a group from a Big 3 company, so a lot of their music videos were just them recording themselves out in the world. Their street version videos from back then are so much fun! They struggled to find a fan base that understood their music in their first two years, and during that time they were considered JYP's failed experiment. Their music was very different than most kpop out there and was often called noise music or construction music (their song Thunderous was them saying oh you think we're loud? We'll show you some noise.) Some of their stuff is quite experimental (I suggest looking up a lyric video for The Tortoise and the Hare, if you'd like to experience some of that) and you never know what they'll do next! They're not stuck in any one particular genre and their music covers a wide variety of themes. It is always worth paying attention to their lyrics because they are often meaningful and beautifully written. They cover topics from mental health, discovering who you are, growing up, obsession, and messages of encouragement. And some are just pure fun! It was right at the two year mark, at the beginning of 2020, when they put out their first full album Go Live, with the title track God's Menu. That song was their real breakout and their popularity skyrocketed worldwide. They have only gone up from there. Their most recent album 5 Star (you saw the title track S-CLASS and the b-side Topline) had the most album preorders in kpop history, with over 5 million. I know I've written a whole lot here, but I'm just so proud of these young men and how far they've come in five years. They are so appreciative of their fans (called Stay) and put out a huge amount of content. I hope you continue to explore their music, there's just so much variety. Judging from your reactions to them so far, I think you will enjoy the ride. And apologies for the essay. 😅

Chan wrote this about his own experiences. His story is so heart wrenching. He left everything at 13 in Australia & went to Korea alone. He was basically alone for 6 years till he met Han. 😢 I remember him mentioning being literally alone in the dorms one year when everyone got cut from JYP & he was literally the only 1 left. Can you imagine being a young kid alone in a massive empty dorm. All his friends had debuted, & everyone else was cut. He made a decision never to get close to anyone again and ended up in a really dark place. He's made more than one reference to his mental health suffering during this time. Luckily he met Han & Changbin to form 3RACHA then later the rest of the boys & he said they saved him. 😢😭😭😭 He's literally a walking miracle. ❤❤❤❤ (Hence the levitation or ascending visual) He is so incredibly strong to overcome all he did. Knowing this made this song hit so hard.😢

I enjoyed your reaction and agree the musical range of this group is outstanding in whatever genre the artists happen to be singing in at the moment. I have been impressed with LiSA vocals since the Sword Art Online series and Demon Slayer. My fave OSTs from LiSA is Sword Art Online and I love Demon Slayer.. The voices in my head again"; "Evil thoughts taking over, I'm let it go"), you'll see that, even though the paper bag people can be the ones on the internet, being judgmental and aggressive or something like that. It's more possible than not, that these "people" are actually their intrusive thoughts saying they're not good enough. Since these lyrics is heavily based on Chan's experience as a trainee for 7/8 years, so LiSA could represents someone way more seasoned that has passed through it all already and not only survived, but thrived. - So let's go to the signs: (the ones I caught) - ❗. Ideas, creativity (but on an overwhelmingly level) - ❓. Doubts and not believing in yourself - ➕. Trying to see the bright light and staying positive. - ➖. All the depressive and negative thoughts, wanting to give up. Throughout the MV, Chan is the one that is constantly chased, suffocated & being captive by the creatures. The other ones are haunted by them, but none as heavily as him. At the end we see Lee Know, Changbin leading the others, all fighting the bad paper bag creatures (evil thoughts), tearing through the wall, before they finally reunited. This could represents how Stray Kids (the members) saved Chan. Always together. I am always impressed by word play in lyrics and they are using visual imageries to do the same (in English and Japanese). Stay know that Chan has fought hard to keep his members safe and together, time and time again, even taking hits himself but we see how they equally would charge in to save and protect him also.

I love this song, and i think LiSA really fits into the song not just a feature and her voice is flawless as always ❤ Like you said, i think this song is about personal sacrifice and following your dreams. The leader Chan (who is part of the main producing unit in SKZ) said that the lyrics came from his personal experience, because he moved to Korea from Australia at age 13 (without any of his family) to train at JYPE. He trained for 7 years before getting to debut in SKZ, and basically all of his close friends debuted in different groups before him. But he also said that he thinks that many others may have similar struggles and hopes that they could relate to the song in their own way. For all the hard-hitting craziness that SKZ create (which i love 😂) I really enjoy how a huge amount of their songs have meaningful lyrics or messages behind them.
