Hi.. I have just bought this camera after watching your review on it. This Is my first camera.. But I have a doubt if u could help me. I don't see clear picture when I open the camera. It has the pixels like we used to have in old generation Televisions .. Like not the clean screen or the image. It seems as if I am watching an old generation black n white tv having torn pixels.. Please tell if this is normal or what should I do in this case?
Thank you for producing this video! I'm still confused on how the camera and mic are connected when you create your vlog A-roll. I'm guessing you boom your Rode mic but do you connect the mic to the camera or to your computer? Related to that is where are the video and audio being recorded to for A-roll? If it's all to the camera SD card, then how do you review each of your shots to see if you nailed them or need to reshoot? If it's all done using the camera, do you have to physically get out of your chair and walk around to the back of the camera to press play and rotate the screen back (if you turned it to face you while recording)? Otherwise, it would seem like a pain to rotate the camera after you got it all positioned for the shot only to have to reset it if the shot needed a retake. If you found a way to record direct to your computer, that would seem a nicer way to check each shot without disturbing the camera. If that's the case, what software are using for that? Lastly, how do you start and stop recording for each shot? Pressing the record button on the camera each time could be a pain if the camera was positioned out of reach. Do you use some type of remote and, if so, what make and model do you recommend?
Got the Sony ZV-1 to start my RU-vid journey. Focusing on vlog style/challenge videos right now. Still trying to figure out my niche. Thank you so much for the content! Extra batteries are a MUST with this camera.
11:45 in case anyone wants to livestream with a empty wallet the Sony zv1 can be used as a webcam through just the usb cable although it limits at 720p. You should still remembered however that 720p with that good of a camera will look AMAZING
I recently switched from using an iPhone 11 Pro to my new Sony ZV-1 to record my RU-vid channel: ru-vid.com. With the addition of the Sony Vlogger Remote, my recording process has become so much smoother. Getting a bit of background blur is also nice. Thanks for the tips. I watched a lot of Think Media videos before investing in this camera and now I’m watching for great tips like these. Thanks!
I've always believed I can make the best content I can without the 'best' gear. And, I've been doing that. Thanks for ALL the tips guys! You really helped me start up my channel.
Thinking about this but for my last uploads I have been just using my iPhone and doing great - so, I will keep an eye out for this over time to see if I need it -= thank you.
Great time to start vlogging as most of us have lost our jobs and starting a new life. Helps that RU-vid has gained some serious watch hours over the past couple of months. Time to make some lemonade!
I have several Ulanzi ball heads and mini tripods and they are the best I googled other companies and compared them with Ulanzi. Ulanzi MT-34 is better quality, but Ulanzi with quick-release system Ulanzi FALCAM F22 or F38Quick Release System with Ulanzi MT-28 Extendable Carbon Fiber Tripod
I’m looking into starting blogging for my RU-vid channel which I just started and I hope I’ll be able to grow into a big channel in the future. And whoever is about to start their channel but he’s afraid you should do so don’t pay attention about other people and I hope you grow into a bigger channel ❤️💋
Am looking at this camera for my RU-vid videos, as I am an Astrophotographer, i have a few very expensive cameras for taking pictures of the deep night sky, but ATM just use a GoPro for my Chanel videos….
Certainly another battery, fully charged two to find first flat in ZV1 camera! Don't know what I left on! but thank goodness for the second battery bought spare just in time! Also find the Sirui T35 table top tripod and Sony RMT-P1BT remote comander comb, better than the purpose made Sony hand grip !
The power supply you recommended to continuously charge the zv1, doesn’t look compatible. The charger is a different head than what the zv1 accepts. Glad i caught that before i wasted my money.
Good video! ZV-1 is awesome! I just ordered it after trying to figure out what I wanted to get. The only down side it has (against the M50, 90D, Sl3) starter cameras is they have lens options for macro, and the touch screen menu for on the fly changes. And that one really weird issue where the screen (seems) to go black when you wear polarized sunglasses (saw that on FroKnows) so Im aware of that caveat. For good photo, video, audio (which the rode wireless go would couple well with the ZV-1) but I dont see the need unless your in a really noisy environment, stabilization, focus, clean hdmi out, no record limit, no 4k crop, decent in low light, internal USB charging and you can use a power bank, charge while using, you can see the audio bars on the screen so you know you have audio (or if you dont, you'll know right away) product showcase mode, de-focus for blurry background, record light so you know your actually recording, and no need for adapters, lenses, microphone, carry bag, and far less editing time, its clearly a winner. Straight up $1000 and nothing (or not much else needed) cant beat that really. Im a Canon user (and have been looking at the above cameras) and I just recently ordered this little guy to take on spur of the moment trips and outdoor ventures (put it in the pocket and go basically) Im anxious to get it and see how it does. Now, I will be getting a much better photography camera later, but this for sure will be my A cam for my channel Im getting ready to start until I get to that point just for the video. I bought these though to save over $100 (my friend has this camera and this tripod) and its great, it telescopes out much further (like to use if you vlog) and it has a quick release phone mount too which is handy in a pinch (like the battery dies and you didn't take one with you) then you can use your phone until you get home. The remote works great as well and is half the cost of Sonys And the Micro USB to Type C cable so I can keep it rapid charging if and when Im low on battery at home live streaming. I prefer type C and wish these companies would just add it in. All found on Amazon 1. I heard that the Sony ZV-1 has some overheating issues. Have you encountered that? I’m also debating between the Sony ZV-1 , Sony a5100, Canon50m. Those all seem to be recommended. I do educational videos, so the camera is always static but I need to pair it with OBS.
Sony ZV1 4K bitrate is 100 MegaBITS per second, not BYTES. Any U3 / V30 grade card will do the job, don’t overpay. Quick guide: SD cards have multiple ways they are classified. For video purposes, V-class is the most useful. The number next to the V is the max write speed in megaBYTES per second. So, any V30 class card can handle up to 30 MB/s, V90 - up to 90, V10 -up to 10, etc. Ok, we have the number in megabytes BUT - most cameras give you bitrate in megaBITS per second. Conversion is easy: 1 byte = 8 bits, so just divide the bitrate number your camera gives by 8. For Sony ZV1, best quality 4K is 100 Mbits = 12.5 MBytes. 12.5 is less than 30, so V30 card will work; but e.g. a V10 wont. However, if you choose a lower bitrate setting in camera, like 60Mbits - 60/8=7.5, so a V10 card will now work too.
I connected a separate microphone(shure) to my Sony zv1 and the audio wasn’t connecting 🤭 I recorded a video but there was no sound, did I miss anything?
Will you guys ever do a giveaway? I would Love to get this Camera, but, I'm a student and I don't earn money... Still trying to keep my Channel going somehow...I just really think It'll help.
i would love it too, i still keep doing my vids waiting to grow, no need to hurry, cause i barely started, but i think a camera would help me and make the vids better
That’s assuming you have a camera on your phone. If not, I’ve shot on some of the crappiest devices back in the day and still got great results. Sometimes it’s all about the subject, not the device.
A review by a purchaser on Amazon states that the Sony ZV-1 camera does NOT film continuously. According to that person, although you can film continuously, the camera breaks down into 10 minute segments. Another reviewer reveals that the Sony ZV-1 does not interface with Apple's iOS. I would appreciate a comment from an actual user here. Both of these criticisms are deal breakers for me since I have an Apple MacBook Pro and am planning to get the new 24" desktop. I don't know enough about posting and editing videos on Apple to know why this wouldn't be so.
Omar, how does that continuous power adapter work you talk about in 8:40? How would the cable run through the battery door? Do you need to remove the door? Would the battery stay in? I'm not sure how to use this camera on a continuous live stream!
I have the same question. I bought the power adapter and there's no way to close the battery door. If the door can't be closed it's impossible to mount it on a tripod, selfie stick, or the Sony vlogger grip. This SEEMS to be a useless accessory since it doesn't allow the door to be closed.
The capture card I have is a HD60s + I hope they works with my Sony zv1 If you would be able to make more videos of Sony zv1 for gaming set up it would be killer ! Great content by the way
The continuous power adapter wont work, right? You cant put the Sony ZV-1 camera on a tripod with its battery compartment open. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Hey, how's it going? Question: are you sure the power adapter is compatible with the zv-1? The link doesn't say it is, the connector does not look the one the camera and someone on Amazon commented that it not compatible. Are you using this adapter?
I order the battery adapter to have continuous power but and the battery door was directly over the mounting screw.. Can you recommend a rig to set up my camera on my tripod? Thanks!! Great video!!
Is there a video like this for Canon M50?.. i mean latest vid if you can make one.. coz the previous one was 2 years ago and isnt detailed as this one. :)
The battery door blocking the main mounting point makes the z-1 a bad camera. i wish people would be more honest about this major fault that is a deal killer!
The stabilization on this camera is terrible. I returned it after a few days! You need to point this out - without a gimbal, this is not good for walking!
You may want to invest in some mothballs for your 👕 drawer bro. 😂😂😂 jk (had too). Great vid my man. Think Media coming in hot at usual. Keep’m come’n guys. 💪🏼
Id like to purchase this to further level up my art vlogging Im currently on a hiatus to search for a handy and compact camera but still has that same quality as the dslr
Who else watches all of Think Media's videos?! They are so helpful!!! I want to start a separate channel for vlogging/lifestyle outside of my educational channel but I am still debating. When I do I def will get the SONY Zv-1 and I would look at getting a non-looking camera satchel or bad. Could you also have Heather suggest some camera bags that are more girly? I feel all the camera bags I see online are very masculine.
Would you recommend the ZV-1 for a RU-vid channel that does a combination of camera talks as well as nature videography (hiking trips, etc.)? Obviously this camera is not perfect for videography but two separate cameras are not within my budget :)
I think it’s a great camera for talking head/broll videos (like this video) and as a vlog camera is pretty good - it’s easy to use but can you can get pretty pro level stuff as you learn how to use it
Yo! I’ve been looking for a current to date camera. Came across your channel on RU-vid and I’m glad I did! I just purchased the camera and getting it tomorrow! I’m so excited. Your videos are so helpful! Your awesome man. Do you recommend Adobe for video editing?
