@@MARTINRIGGSS yeah that’s my favorite sound from the AWE😎 it sounds more like that when you are in manual mode since this is an auto, and bring the RPMs a little higher than normal shifting and it’ll make that louder sound.
Sounds good with stock header and front pipe just like the MXP Comp RS I had in my FR-S. After installing a UEL header and high flow catted front pipe it was too loud and obnoxious. I ended up with a Magnaflow exhaust and loved it. I was interested in AWE exhaust for the GR86 but I'll be going back to the magnaflow again.
Yeah I am probably going to do the AWE Touring, with a UEL Header, but stock front pipe. Think it would sound good, but I see why you would go MagnaFlow, so it's not too loud
looks like a fun race car. Want a 2 seater, either Miata, S2000 or this. Don’t want to spend an arm and leg though. This one sounds the best of all 3 choices..😎
All have their pros and cons. Depends on what you're look for. If you're looking for the most fun, it's generally between Miata or S2000 depending on who you ask. If you're doing majority street driving, get Miata. If you know more on how to work on a car and will doing a more track focused, get the S2000.
How loud would you say this is? I want to get an exhaust but I live in a town where the cops pull me over just to check if my window tint truly is legal so I’m hesitant to put too loud of an exhaust on haha.
Yes, it only took about an hour this way. I got some ramps later on and was able to finish it within 30 min, but that’s after swapping the exhaust a couple times.
This system sounds great! And I want one lol. My only reservation is the loudness. It's hard to tell on the video, but is it "piss off my neighbors every morning" loud?
Thanks man, I love it! Once the cars warmed up it’s not obnoxious at all, just sounds good. Like all BRZ/GR86s they have loud cold starts since it warms up the cats quicker. So cold starts are pretty loud but after like 30 seconds it calms down. Maybe eventually we can tune out the loud cold starts they’re a bit much when I leave for work at 4am😁
Neither are raspy at all but both are loud. Track is a lot louder, & both are really deep sounding. Touring is the perfect loud for me and no drone, so I’d go touring over track personally :)
It’s probably half as loud on normal driving. The biggest difference is no drone, so if you drive with your windows up it’s not obnoxious. If you full throttle, the touring sounds just like the track, so you can make it “loud” when you want it to be.
Thanks, I love it! The MXP was good, but this one is 10x better. Sounds alot more refined, the video doesn't do it justice. And the biggest plus is no drone, which was the biggest problem for me with the MXP Comp RS.
Of course, glad you enjoyed the video! The AWE Touring isn't loud at all around 80MPH cruising, you can obviously hear it, but it's not annoying and there is ZERO Drone. Just took it on a 2-hour road trip with my girlfriend over the weekend and it was comfortable VS the MXP Comp RS which gave me headaches. I absolutely love it!
None of the annoying interior sound when driving. Most exhaust systems have some drone which can get annoying when your drive, but this one has no drone, so it’s comfortable to drive with and sounds great :)
i have a question on the Tomei Expreme type 80 catback, would you need a turbo on your car in order to have the exhaust? or can you just install the exhaust and everything will be fine?
I been strongly considering buying this exhaust, but living in Cali has made me hesitant to buying it. How has your experience been with the police after installing this exhaust?
smell like bitch in here, nah just playin, but I live in cali too, my touring comes in in 6 days along with my 23’ brz, just gotta send it ;) keep it in low rpms if you want to be quiet, it doesnt get loud until you get up in the rpm’s.
Sexy AF..... I did the right thing....! I loved my HKS L.....Mature sounding non obnoxious.....But I wanted to be that guy.....and this has that guy sound all over it. So I've ordered this to replace my HKS. Should have it by the end of this month.....In the immortal words of Bart Scott....."Can't wait!!!".
Automatic......come on.....anyway the different tones this axle back makes its incredible. I love that little whine when you touch the throttle at take off. This suits the boxer engine so well. Most of the axel backs sound the same, farting down the road. At least this is a much more sophisticated fart.
