Best Sport Bike Motorcycle Tires for Mileage Review
www.revzilla.com/sportbike-ti...
Sportbikes by definition are built to perform. Speed. Grip. Aggressive lines and minimal times in between locations. All of these are precisely the kinds of things that sportbike tires need to be prepared to handle. However, when pushed in that way, sportbike tires have a tendency to wear out quicker than many riders would like. In this guide to the best sportbike tires for mileage, Lemmy answers one of the most oft-asked questions that we get here at RevZilla and puts forth his selections for tires that will last the longest for this style of riding.

I have a 2005 Yamaha R6 as my daily rider. (Only mode of transportation.) So I ride A LOT and I rock the Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires. I live in a place where we have random on and off rainy weather. The PR4's perform VERY well in the wet and give me a lot of confidence when I have to ride in those conditions. I highly recommend them!

I have put 3000 miles on my pilot sport 4 through hot summer, cold fall, freezing winter, and tsunami spring. These are the best all around tires I have ever had. Never made me lose confidence, love the grip in all weather.

Love my pilot road 4, to me they seem better than my pilot powers. I have a little over 8K miles on them this year, back tire is about hitting wear marks. But i have had the tire all the way to about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch from edge and it didnt even hesitate anywhere, great tire. Definitely recommend.

Agreed on the Angel GT. I did a track day on my Ducati 748 on these and didn't break traction despite using up all of the tyre and dragging knees/scraping pegs. Sure they're not as nice handling as supercorsas with their more rounded profile and soft compound.
@ItchesIt

I have not used the Pirelli tires, but the PR4 tires that have let me down in the turns with two different sets. The rear did not have grip on its side. I've nearly highsided three times and I can drift the rear around at will in a turn. If I don't accelerate, then yeah, they are ok, but throttle out of a turn, on the street or track and you better be super smooth. Yes, I've ridden to the edge front and rear, but the T30 EVO has never let loose in the back. Fwiw, I ride a 99 Honda VFR800 which is only about 110hp, do it's not a matter of to much power. They will work knee down, but the grip really just isn't there.

Had PR4's on my Multistrada 1000DS, they were awesome in all weathers. But they didn't last as long as I'd hoped so I tried out some Angel GT's assuming I'd have to compromise on grip. Nope, they were at least as good as the PR4's, if not better. Have since sold the bike but would definitely buy GT's again. Live in the UK where it's often damp and cold so grip in all weathers is important. I don't think you can go far wrong with either of these tyres!

had ANGEL GTS put on last season, and it still looks brand new. i do lot of highway riding and this tire is perfect for that. i had super corsa 2s for 2 seasons and they barely last one season, how ever they stick like gum. (but thats only for like 2 months) then the tire starts to slip with wear and so on.

What kind of mileage you see on a rear?
@nigel900
@nigel900 4 года назад
(@Richard Stoffel) I’m using a 150/70ZR17 on rear, and a 110/80ZR18 on front of a 2013 Triumph Thruxton. Originally, the bike came with Metzelers (130 rear & 100 front). I don’t ride very aggressive, and tend to do mostly straight-line riding...at high speed. The Metzelers gave up the ghost at 5,400 vs the Pirellis at about 8,000. Even at 8,000, the Angel GT’s were worn just to the wear indicator in the center. Usually I change tires when they begin to wear uneven and not worn out. Great ride and handling, very precise and don’t track grooves in the road. I highly recommend them.

My Dad and I both use Shinkos. He runs ravens on his cbr1000 and usually gets about 18k out of them while commuting in any weather. I run the 704/705 on my enduro with 5k on the front and showing very little wear with decent dirt grip.

I do track days on shinko 011's cant tell a difference between them and dunlop q3's. Once the q3 is done will go back to shinko on the the rear for sure. Better to just replace a tire than stretch out an expensive one.

I have a 1984 Honda NighthawkS with 16 inch rrims both front and back. So far this gas been a challenge looking for a good sport touring tire. I recently just went through a pair of continental sport tires in 1,800 miles. I'm sure I can put another 200 miles on them, but I'm down to the wear Mark's if not further already and would like to find a tire that will give me better mileage without sacrificing too much grip for corners or rain, IF at all possible?

if you ride in any kind of a "sport" way, the last thing you should save money on is tires! just my opinion. Angel GT is my favorite sport touring tire, done a few track days on them as well on my multistrada, did not disappoint, todays sport touring tires are yesterdays hyper sport tires, most of us, me included, will never see the limits of their tires, even if you use all of them and don't have any "us used" tire at the edges. i'd go so far as to say if you only ride on the street then this category is more than enough especially the premium priced ones. just my opinion. for track i roll with pirelli diablo rosso corsas

how about a low silica tire, how would that effect it? as I dont ride in rain or wet weather. so I dont care about that silica wet traction. a good idea for future videos would be to include optimal tire temp for particular tires best traction and performance. being that higher end race intended tires need more heat than even aggressive city and country twisties riding can get to. best to get high performing street tires with that certain temp range would be best for those city and touring tires.

Put some Angel GT's on last month and took them out for the first proper ride last Sunday, I love them, so much more grip than my Avon 3D XM tyres that I had on before which would slip out on me quite often. @ericmcclurg4541
@ericmcclurg4541 6 лет назад
I'm going with the RA 3's! Not many video reviews online of this tire. I've had the roadtec's. Didn't like em'. Didn't really need a true rain tire; and they get a little squirrely when canyon carving on hot tarmac. Not a good hot weather tire, but good definitely in the cold. Average mileage. The Roadsmart 3's would be to stiff for my Z900, I think. The tires also weigh, I think 3-4 lbs. heavier than typical sport touring tires which makes me think they're made for heavier bikes like dual sport and touring bikes. If you watch the Dunlop RA 3 ad videos they've got all heavy bikes in the videos. Even their independent tests were done with a 1200 size bike. But, the RA 3's in their videos have naked sport bikes, like the FZ-09 in their videos. Since I ride a Z900 (similar bike) I'm going with the RA 3's. I'll keep you posted of their performance.

I really like the road 4's, but if you are a very aggressive rider and mostly ride dry roads I would go with the Brigg's s21, I don't know how long they will last yet, but I can tell you when I went from the road 4's to s21 my confidence level went up about 20%(on dry roads) on my ZX14R and when I went from a Angel GT to a s21 (on the back) still have an Angel on the front of my YZF600R my confidence level went up about 40%. The Angel GT on the back seemed to slip too much too quick if you hit any dirt or paint, on clean roads they really worked pretty well. So if you ride in rain sometimes and are not super aggressive in the corners, I would go with the road 4's and you will probably get 2-3k more miles out of the road 4's, that makes up for the higher price. The Angel GT's are not bad, but I'm sticking to the s21 on my sport bikes until something better comes along.

Metzeler is really good for the rain. If you do a lot of highway riding, look at the Roadtec 01s. If you want even more grip, look at the M7 RRs. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/metzeler-roadtec-01-tires *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/metzeler-sportec-m7-rr-tires

I can understand wanting to save a lil money and getting a great tire, but to sacrifice better performance to save money seems to me someone ok to take a dive not having enough traction.

4:12 incredible that it can perform art such high speeds 5:40 [and 6:20] the question about those with the dual compound only in rear is which compound is used in the front, the softer or harder? I'm more concerned about grip than length in the front. 5:45 rear goes to crap faster bc it also contends with the pulling force of acceleration as with rear and engine braking. My opinion, people should be more concerned about being sure the grip is there more so than anything else. Yes I want long wear, but Dec want great grip.

+1 on Shinko 009 Raven rears. 24000 km/ 15000 ml on a Kawasaki ZZR110/ZX11 / ZZR1400 / ZX14, to the chords, sensible, no burnouts, touring riding style in Portugal, Europe, more or less San Francisco, CA weather alike. I woudn't recommend the front, though, unless in hot weather and heavy bike only.

I'm trying to decide between the Pilot Road 4's and the Metzeler Roadtec 01's for my Suzuki DL650. I live in Vancouver, BC, and it rains all winter here. I enjoy spirited riding on twisty roads, sometimes up to 800km per day, and don't plan on taking this bike off-road. I don't commute, so every ride is a fun, faster paced ride with moderate lean angles. I do some light touring with camping gear and hard panniers on the bike. I'm also a heavier guy. Any Revzilla input is appreciated!

Had Roadtec 01's for just over 1000 miles now on a CBR600F riding wet roads in the UK, absolutely love them. Completely transformed the bike from the factory Bridgestone tyres, wet and dry grip has been fantastic. Decided to get them after a review from FortNine, also Revzilla review here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gpxFPrwexcE.html

Street triple R, 155 without gear, 34/38, I consistently get 7k out of a rear t30 evo. I commute with lots of highway to the tune of 10-12k miles a year. The center is what is down to the wear bars, the sides have plenty of life left. I can usually get a single front to last through 2 rears.

@aluisious
@aluisious 6 лет назад
I don't ride very hard most of the time and run about 38 if it's just me. Grab an Angel GT rear tire and a PR4, the Angel GT is lighter, because there is less material. That's great for performance which is what people love about them, but they're weak comparatively to road debris. My Multi came with Pirelli Scorpion Trails...got a huge flat (needed more than one rope plug) on the rear in 4k. Got the Angel GT, got a huge flat in the rear at 5k. Got tired of that and went for PR4s, and they manage to resist the junk on the road even when the tread is worn down.
@aluisious
@aluisious 6 лет назад
Every time I got a flat was when I was going in a straight line at about the speed limit, by the way. So riding style barely enters in anyway. The Scorpion Trail got punctured by a piece of PLASTIC between lanes on a highway. Plastic...pathetic.
@MohawkNinja636
@MohawkNinja636 6 лет назад
That sucks uou had trouble with them. Using riding style and the type of roads play a big part in tire wear. I'm on my 2nd set of Angel GT tires. I even got 9k out of the crap stock tires that came on my ZX6R
