Just 10 bolts gets you the Sprinter RV Suspension Upgrades of your dreams. We combined new Agile Offroad Tuned Fox Shocks with the Hellwig Sway Bar to significantly reduce roll and sway on our Winnebago Navion 24D. What a difference!
Agile Offroad in Southern California does an incredible job tuning Fox Shocks originally designed for Semi Trucks to work with Mercedes Sprinter based RVs like the Winnebago Era, View, Navion, Vita or select Thor Delano, Tiburon, Quantum, Chateau, Four Winds, Synergy, Citation, and Siesta RVs. The new shocks combined with the stiffness of a thicker sway bar from Hellwig make pulling out of driveways less "boat rocking" and driving in the wind a "breeze."
Have you upgraded your suspension on an RV? What combination worked best for you? Have thoughts or questions about the #DigitalNomad life, RVing, our travels in Mexico, or anything else? Comment below!

I just did this on our 2018 Navion on Saturday so we could head for NC on Sunday. The results are amazing and it was much easier than I thought it would be, even without pneumatic tools ;)

I wanted to throw in another option which is to consider adding, not replacing, a Roadmaster sway bar in front of the rear axle and leave the stock sway bar in place. I did this on a 2020 Winnebago view with the Agile Off-road Fox 2.5 shocks based on the recommend of a life long RV shop and do not regret it. This costs more than the Hellwig solution but you also get more sway control. Game changer!

Maybe this will help if you dont already know... I always down shift the rv...tow mode too if you have it along with downshifting...when heading down moderate to steep grades...try and stay off the brakes as much as possible...but when you are using them pump them...Ive had a few rvs and currently have a chevrolet 3500 class c and the brakes are small thus even more issue than the larger braked fords..Im unsure about your sprinter chassis but they are prob smaller too due to the lighter chassis...practice this and live it ALWAYS...it will really help. Also if that is a diesel doesnt it have the decel feature? Use it too if it does...try and minimize the brake as much as possible.

Thanks for watching, and great advice! We do downshift (Sprinters will also automatically downshift when you are at an angle and hitting the brakes). This was on one of the steepest roads in North America outside of Whistler, BC and ours wasn't the only vehicle with smoking brakes! We've now upgraded the pads to heavy duty for towing, and can already feel a difference. 👍 -Howard

Great video, I’m also doing this upgrade on my 2019 Jayco Melbourne 24L with 2018 sprinter chassis. How did your Navion ride after the modification on interstates or US highways
@NewstateNomads
@NewstateNomads 4 года назад
Claude, thanks for watching, and yes it's the same chassis year! Definitely an improvement. Way less push from wind and trucks, and you can feel the difference in stability when driving. For us, this is a must upgrade for any Sprinter B or C RV. 👍 Let me know if you have any questions, and would love to hear your thoughts once you finish the upgrade! -Howard

We just ordered a 2022 Winnebago 24D View. I’m a bit nervous of the swaying. Do you know if Winnebago improved this on the newer models or should we plan on upgrading the shocks and sway bar?
@NewstateNomads
@NewstateNomads 2 года назад
Congratulations on the new View! Definitely join the FB group "View/Navion Motorhomes" for lots of friendly fellow owners. The newer Mercedes chassis does have a thicker sway bar from the factory, but many are still upgrading at the least the shocks in the rear (Agile Fox shocks). Some have also gone with the Hellwig sway bar since I've read it is still a thicker alternative to the factory even on the newer chassis. Hope that helps! -Howard

Hey, I know you guys have recently upgraded to a 2025 Winnebago, still on a Sprinter chassis. We're in the process of downsizing from our Thor Outlaw 38MB toyhauler to a 24' Class C on a Sprinter chassis so I'm curious if 1) you needed or performed any additional suspension mods on your old RV after doing the Fox shocks and Hellwig sway bar?, and 2) what, if anything, are you planning to do again or do differently on your new Sprinter chassis? My wife can't stand the body roll of our Outlaw and at one point going down into Flagstaff I had to pull over (not easy to do with a 40' class a pulling a 4-door Wrangler) because she had motion sickness, and another time she wanted me to stop and unhook the Jeep so she could just drive that and get out of the motorhome. So, I'm going to do whatever mods necessary to eliminate those kinds of problems as much as possible in the new Class C. There were some things that simply weren't available for the Outlaw, like a heavy duty rear sway bar, so it was tough. Thanks, and I hope you're enjoying the new rig! We built a house 8 miles outside of Zion and have a casita and RV parking with hookups, plus tons of BLM land across the road if you ever make your way back to southern UT.

Just wanted to say thank you for doing all of the research on this and putting this video together. I ordered the exact same parts for our 2016 Coachmen Prism (also a Mercedes 3500 RWD Dually Chassis). I dug around a bit more on the internet(s) and see that everyone who knows what's up is suggesting Argile Fox Shocks and the Hellwig Sway Bar. That said, I found it here first, because of you guys and your awesome video. I look forward to the parts arriving and throwing them on. Thanks again!

More control = more stiffer? Or More control = still soft..? My van is very lightly build but need softer ride in the back, would these Fox shock will dampen the ride instead stiffen it?

@NewstateNomads
@NewstateNomads 4 года назад
Thanks for watching, and yes! This made a huge difference for us in sway, and made the already easy to drive chassis even more stable. To clarify, the links below are for our generation of Sprinter chassis. If you click through, check for fit/compatibility. Agile for instance will insist you specify which model year chassis you have and enter part of the VIN to confirm. Everything was in the box that we needed for both items (separate purchases), so I guess the kit question is yes? Let us know if you have any other questions! 👍 -Howard

@@NewstateNomads Soon, we just returned from a 3 month 12,000 mile trip. I added 3 inch spacers to move the rear wheels out and that helps. The spacers are heavy duty and cost $300 a piece. I hoped that would be enough but it isn't.

My Sprinter MH feels like there is no springs, crash bang crash over every bump, it has a heavy sway bar airbags assist on the rear, and booster springs on the front but still only two inches of travel to the bumpstops.
@NewstateNomads
@NewstateNomads 3 года назад
Graham, what chassis year is your MH? You could look into adding more leaf springs to help with that (though I'm not sure if you can have both increased springs with Air Bags). The Agile 2.5 rear shocks were a big improvement for us. -Howard
