I scored 99 percentile in XAT VALR 2024 and 96.88 in CAT VARC 2023, guys trust me when I say this, everything that she's saying in the myth bursting section about VARC is 100% true. She's giving great advice. I've been personally mentoring students for the Verbal section and I give them the same advice. Your study and attempt strategy should be tailor made according to your strengths and weaknesses! Don't take generic advice from coaching centres !
@@careervanshika Hi Vanshika, thanks for the advice, I wanted to know what should be the target time (in practice which would build the same habit for actual exam) to read and attempt 1 RC passage? also keeping in mind that VA questions are also essential to be solved.
I liked how honest and thorough you were in this video, I'll be rooting for you as I'm confident you will be a very successful content creator in the near future.
1. Familiarize yourself with CAT : Look at the past papers and predict future changes 2. Fact check everything: Don't believe everything that is being told to you about CAT 3. VARC tips : - Solve and practice them only. Don't read anything else for practicing - Don't make a mind map while reading the passages, won't help at all - Don't make a vocabulary book and memorize words, a waste of time - Solve both VA and RC, dont leave one out 4. Conceptual understanding : Have a deep understanding about the subjects, especially Maths 5. Memorize everything that will help save your time during the exam like sqaures, cubes and their roots etc 6. Give as many mocks as possible, analyze your weak points and time yourself while solving them 7. Prepare a proper schedule which ensures that you study daily by solving a particular amount of questions from all sections 8. Be in a hurry, not to solve the entire paper, but to solve the easy questions. 9. The preparation will take a negative toll on your mental health. The journey is not gonna be easy but in the end remember why you are doing it. Try to find that one person in life who will support you mo matter what. (apart from yourself)
Finally a realistic video from student's POV. Thankyou sm for the tips. It would be helpful if you make video on LRDI stratergy, resources you used n all. i am really struggling with LRDI. THANKS AGAIN>
@@POWEROFSCUBE not really, my exams of 2nd semester are over , just after a month I will be in second year and In nov 25 I will be in my 5th semester (3rd year ) I guess, so yeah as a fresher i will be appearing in cat 25 in order to get admission for session 2026-2028
I hate it when everyone tries to be a motivator, tries to play that card where they were so bad in studies/math and how they scored a decent percentile. The problem is 9/9/9 is never a average student academic score.. and about being poor in math, anyone can ace it with intense preparation. Being bad in math is not a thing, low academics is a thing. Anyone can work hard on poor math and improve it. Average student?? Funny ..the goal is to reach alot of audience, with average tag.
Yes being a 9/9/9 can never be that bad at maths and all. Atleast they have a long term study habit for sitting long hours that also matter. And 90+ can never be possible in class 10th if u r bad at maths 😂
@@bhavi321 exactly that's what I'm saying. And she thinks being bad in math is the definition of being a average student, it's not. No way an average student will have past academics like 9/9/9. No guts to say the truth in the camera. The fact is that everyone wants to be an ifuennzzzaaa, and people who are actually average student won't buy this ..infulenzaaaa thing.😂
so you're saying someone who hasn't studied maths in 5 years vs a bcom graduate who's studied maths regularly are at the same level? Humanities students can barely look up to their seniors for guidance because barely any humanities student go for CAT prep, it's always just UPSC. I mentioned in the video from the start I was bad at maths. And how has scoring 90+ in CBSE ever made anyone above average!? I know people from UP boards who scored 98+ in english who in fact had awful english skills, I myself scraped off a 90%. what you study in DU (which is just memorisation) and CBSE vs an Aptitude exam are both very different. I'm assuming you clicked on this video to actually prepare for CAT, ye bakwas karne se CAT crack nahi hoga... the audacity people have on social media...
@@bhavi321 yeah of course Bhavi, you've known me for years and actually know my personal life to pass on a judgement :) it's really not a big deal to score decently in CBSE and DU... you'd know that if you actually hustled in life instead of commenting BS on videos❤
@@careervanshika first of all I never commented BS on you. Secondly read what I said , that getting passing marks in maths class 10th and also getting 90% in class 10th sounds unfamiliar and unreasonable.not all Bcom graduates are not familiar with maths . They did accounts and economics and business studies not maths necessarily. I told the person above that...maybe she got such a good marks in 10th despite being weak in maths because maybe she had a habit of studying long hours or concentrate better', which many students lacks hence fails in cat. Can you reply to my other comments too . It will be helpful if you help through your experience about the percentile needed convertion and calls.
Hello di! I am preparing for IPMAT (Indore) and yes there are a few advices given by people which actually misled me, specially for VARC. I’m unable to remember the meanings of different words, and yes, ‘Word power made easy’ by ‘Norman Lewis’ really helped me a lot and also the mind mapping strategy is completely useless. Thank you for such a nice video!!
Good advice ! But sharing a few thoughts Do keep in mind that different strategies work for different people. Though mind map doesn't make sense for a student scoring 90+%ile, it can make a lot of change for a student who is attempting jus one or two RCs and struggling with accuracy. Have met many students at the lower percentiles who have mentioned that mind mapping helped them Agree that reading editorial at leisurely pace does not help but a reading of editorial with CAT intent and speed exposes oneself to a large number of opinion based articles, styles of different writers and most important current affairs which is required for Personal interviews
I would always recommend everyone to solve all RC passages simply because you can't identify the easy ones like you can in LRDI and Quants. If someone who's not good at VARC, and they end up selecting the 2 really hard RC passages, there's no chance they can make it with them. That's why everyone should solve all RC passages and if one is trying to get only 80+ percentile, solve questions that have a direct and straightforward answer.
Subbed for life! Every words you’re saying feels personally relatable. Having 0 level in QA LRDI is hard. I’m also catching up with NCERTs and Basic Class 7-12th Maths questions. I wonder how did u start your LRDI? And also 20-30 QA Questions is fine but which ones ? (In basics) I’ll look forward towards Different sub videos where Maybe u can explain even better in depth for students like Us. Non maths🥲. Loved the video thou❤ Please mentor me😅
Don't go through the NCERT books; I had IMS books they're pretty straightforward so start from there only (there's not enough time to go through ncert books now); there's different LOD for all topics in quants. So start with the arithmetic section and go through LOD 1 then increase the difficulty level. Lrdi go through iquants top 100 lrdi sets they start off easy then difficult.
You are right about the Rc section because I have also faced the same problem. Whenever I answered after reading the whole passage and mind mapping, it took more time and also did not give much accuracy. Similarly, if one gets an idea and solves the question then it becomes quick All your strategies are absolutely correct and may not be for some people. But I found it very helpful. Thank you so much for such content, we really need such content. I really appreciate your work.
Vanshika, Thank you so much for sharing such valuable insights about the CAT exam! Became a Sub instantly after finishing this Vid. Keep up the good work and will be expecting vids from you in the future.
And one more thing I have found in handling RCs is don't assume anything or generalise. Just follow the passage and only answer based on what is mentioned in the passage. Don't assume anything until mentioned. This is the most common mistake which many people do in CAT which I also did in last year CAT. This year I am hoping to do good.
thanks a lot friend, i was literally frustrated from 2 days because the target i wanted to achieve (30+) in 1 month, i scored it in 4 days (37) and i was so stunned and frustrated but your video helped me out to know "what should i do next" thank you so much. bdw i failed CAT 2023 with worst *7* marks ever i got, after scoring 108 highest in mindworkzzz mocks and 98 just before main exam, this thing also affect me while studying, can you please help me out in this....
Thanks for the video !!! Iam preparing for CAT 2024 rn . I am not not even able to crack one set full in mocks (AIMCAT by TIME)..I am doing proper analysis everytime and have started practising CAT 2017 PYQ, but still finding it very hard to crack !! Could you please suggest the kind of questions/sources that u practised during prep . It would be really helpfulll..
Hi, so AIMCATs in general are much harder than CAT level. Try out easier mocks first. go for IMS or Career Launcher. Once you're good with these then go AIMCATs as that will prepare you for a tough CAT paper as well. Initially you're not going to score well. And that's normal. I shared about this in this video too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kn-qjp66FSw.html from 2:06-3:13
after completing most questions from my coaching book I just focused on mocks question. So if I got algebra wrong in that mock, I'd spend the entire week focusing on past year algebra questions + watching algebra marathons on RU-vid by multiple CAT coachings (they're free)
even if I try to practice more but i am not able to solve a single question in DILR. How can I practice more when i am not able to solve a single set ?
Hey vanshika I am doing B.A.(Hons.) Economics (second year) I scored 95% in 10th and 91% in 12th but my cgpa till now is 7/10 (First Year), if i scored 99%+ in Cat, is there chance i can get into. IIM(abc)?
@@careervanshika Thanks vanshika by the way im CAT 2025 Aspirant and i'm very confused and not a topper too it's so concerning how to do it because it will be the last exam of my life nd i need to crack it and at least give my 100%
I have registered for the cat exam but I am working now for 9 hours and a half hour from monday to friday I don't know how to prepare can you help me out?
If possible, provide at least 2hrs for each section that means 6hrs a day for 90 days straight. Make a strict time table, you can cover 1 section before going to work and another 2 after your dinner.
1. in which month did you start your preparations? I just started it two weeks backs .. can i make it ? 2. Where can i get quality RC passages that are of CAT level to solve ?
Vanshika di mai hindi medium se hu or cat ki preparation ke liye mere paas 2 years hai mujhe maths me or lrdi me itni dikkat nahi aati jitni varc specialy rc me aati hai English hi nahi samjh me aati or wahi rc me se answers bhi nahi doondpaata hu kyuki samjh nahi aati please chota bhai samjhkar guide kijiye ki kya karna chahiye please reply me bahut se yt se pooch lekin koi solution nahi de raha iska please bata dijiye kya kary😢
Hello Vaibhav, unfortunaly english bahot important hai for MBA. Agar CAT bhi crack ho jaata hai, actual placements fir bhi achhi nahi ho paayengi. thoda time leke english pe work karna start karo, I will make a video on this too
Thanks Vanshika for advice , can you please suggest time management as well as i am a working professional i am not getting good time to study , just 2-3 hrs. of study will not let me to crack CAT , so kindly make video for that , including source of study for the aspirants who all are doing self-study .
I am fresher this year and same as your I also had a lot of problem in maths like division cut answers.... How I can crack it for good % and for this year I will give this exam or not.. Because a few time for cat 2024😢😢pls reply this and give a perfect answer..... 😊
I don't know how much I can do in 3 months tbh.. mock scores are even -ve at times..i am pretty chaotic at this point.. I feel as if I know nothing and dumb😢
Hi Vanshika I am preparing for CAT '24 . Currently I am studying in final year of engineering. I belong to Nc-obc female category. What score do need to get in CAT to get calls from top IIMs. I scored 89.67% in 10th , 95% in 12th and my cgpi in college till date is 9.3
Competition this year was quite immense due to so many lay offs and so many more CAT aspirants; I’d say aim for 99+ only to have a good enough chance at the very top IIMs (IIM ABC)
Ahhh! Where was your video my entire 2 months, i dont even have the arun sharma book that classes provides, i feel like i have been robbed and guess what not a single mock has been conducted in the class
Hello mam Fresher hu placement ke time koi problem hogi kya And one more question abhi se 5 months hai mein daily 5-6 hours study karu toh 95+ percentile score kar sakta hu kya plz mam answer karna😅
Hey there, honestly it depends from person to person. Some people when they study for even an hour they study with deep focus, so studying for 5-6 hours with deep focus would be really good. I'd say focus more on achieving daily goals. If you've just started your prep I'd recommend you solve 40-50 QA questions daily + 5-6 sets of LRDI + 5 RC + 30 VA questions. You should also start giving mocks and aim to solve 1-2 every week. This might feel like a lot initially but if you follow this strategy you'll definitely get a 99+ percentile.
@@blindblind8230 no no! 30% freshers hote hai in all IIMs. In fact Marketing and Consulting ke liye they only hire freshers. You're at an advantage there.
Hello . My 10th score : 9.2 CGPA 12th : 78% Engineering grad : 63% (2017 passout ) 2018 - 2021 ( prepared for Upsc ) 2022 started working ( aprox 2 years work ex ) Category: sc Will i be an eligible candidate for the top IIMs if i get a good Cat score?
Mam iam engineering graduate (2024) my dad met an accident so our financial condition is bad,so i dont have job, if i want IT job then i want to make java full stack couse it will take upto 1 year to get job , and now I'm selected for cbse school computer science teaching from class 5 to 9th , for this job being engineering graduate should i want to go or choose java course, if computer science teaching job is ok then this work ex is good or it will effect in PI, summer placement, final placement? In IIM Mba because iam also started cat preparation?
Any work experience counts. I'm sorry to hear about your father :( don't worry about anything, when you talk about your backstory, your work ex would never cause you hurdles during your placements or admissions
Making a mind map / writing points in few words - Total bullshit. Never got good score in VARC . Just reading mindfully & answering is fetching lot more marks. Thanks for busting this myth
Caution : please do not follow toppers blindly. That might be a misguidance. Nothing in this world easy. Kindly do not exploit people’s vulnerabilities as they are young aspirants who need truth not false candies treatment
did you even watch the video fully? I mentioned how many hours it takes to reach that top percentile. In all my comments too, people ask me what if I study for 3 hours? and I tell them how many questions they have to solve daily. took me 7 hours of studying daily to get a good enough percentile in CAT. and this was my 2nd attempt anyways. Don't comment nonsense just to take out your frustration.
You mentioned that dont retain memorise or do mapping...please elaborate an alternative to that..i try noting down the key concepts and waste much time..some tell to do doodling
Try to summraize paragraph in 2 or 3 words,or just write 2 or 3 words where the paragraph revolves around but make sure not using more than 2 to 3 words
try to skim through the entire paragraph and after that just focus on the questions and look for the section within the RC where the answer for that question could be
can you clear the part where you said do 1 mock a week, and an average students has to do 50 mocks so that is nearly 12 months doing mocks only? Please provide a strategy
At 2.35, u said para jumbles were completely scraped out nd they didn't come. Instead para completion came. To my knowledge pls recheck this because para jumbles still comes in CAT nd they do came in 2023 exam as well.
Hi yes good catch it was odd one out in CAT 22. Which was scrapped out and para completion was added. In cat 2023 all three were there lol. I spoke wrong :P
Hey ! Can you please check if i should aim for top iims or some other iim or college. And how much percentile should i aim for .My profile is as follows: I am a female from OBC -NC Category 10th: 94.8% 12th:87% Graduation:6.83 GPA 1 year work experience
Hey Vanshika! I am working hard for CAT your strategies was a new perspective for me However I am always afraid of my profile It's 8/8/7 Humanities , Sociology Hons If I score the same as you ,may I expect similar calls?
For humanities students, it's much easier to make it to IIMs! This year many people registered for CAT and competition was a lot more as many people were laid off. Try to score 99% and for sure you'll get through most top IIMs!
Dude rather waiting for a call, just apply for any tier 1 college in your locality. For your percentile they must provide you an MBA with 100% scholarship, why would you waste lakhs of money on IIMs when you're able to do it for free. 99.8% means you're 0.1% above than IIMA's cutoff, just use the opportunity and save money.
I scored 92% in 10th and 98% in 12th, but degraded to 72% in graduation, is this an ok profile for cat? Also I'm from a non engineering background, so how much cat percentile would be ok to get a good normalised score?
Hi, you can try Iquanta 100 LRDI sets, it's available on youtube. When you're at a good level watch top 10 LRDI sets series by Cracku. You can checkout my CAT masterclass videos where I've talked about this in depth.
Don't focus on your profile so much right now. There are so many IIMs that accept these scores; there's IIM C (but aim for 99+ percentile) + FMS + MDI + XLRI + IIM CAP + IIM Rohtak
