Branch mining is my favorite, I always see people go branch mining and leave the redstone or gold behind but I always mine it out just incase there is diamonds behind!
That was a different story for me, there was wierd music playing in the background, sounding like disc 11, I was mining when I saw a new wierd block, I ignored it and heard wierd noises. Again, I ignored them but started getting confused. Suddenly, a loud SHRIEK noise was ignited and I was blinded. I later realized that it was a new structure that I dug right under, the ancient city. I was scared but the kind of scared where it was just silent terror. I never went down those mine again.
Thank you for actually testing the methods! Most people just talk about what would be most efficient best case scenario, so their advice doesn't apply to real gameplay.
Between this episode and the one about different ores, they have been the most useful for me having not played MC since the Nether update. Thank you so much!
Third strategy: -Find Deep Dark -Have an enchanted mending efficiency hoe (not kidding) also, have unbreaking 1, 2, or 3 so you can get a little xp -Mine all sculk -Find a lot more diamonds! How does it have more diamonds? Well, diamonds spawn more in a vein based on if there is air above. No air = more diamonds. Sculk isn’t air, so it works
hey new to this series but as a returning player after a long break this is very helpful! thank you for all the hard work and in depth explanations everyone else seems to gloss over!
It seems like you hit a bit of a bad luck streak there. Entertaining & informative... But unlucky. That's Minecraft too, not every experience will be the same. Great episode Blu!
Great take! You are 100% correct. Not every Minecraft experience will be the same. I've NEVER had this bad of luck caving. HOWEVER...I've ALWAYS had better luck branch mining. So there ya go! lol
Hi Blu. Love how the PIT turned out. Very pretty build. Watched the live stream so face palmed the creeper death when I saw it. But those little buggers are ruthless!!! Thanks for the great videos. So glad you are back. Was missing these videos.
Really enjoyed the episode as always. Love the pace of the series and how well you cover techniques. Might have been worth mentioning besides dropping blocks in a chest while branch mining to free up inventory space you can also make ores into blocks since that also frees up space. Keep up the fantastic content! Take care.
@17:52 i feel like this is a metric often overlooked. i play on a realm set to hard and the last thing i want while diamond mining is to face monsters and die. this is part of why i love branch mining; it's a consistent process with not very many ways to be set back.
Last time in branch mined (java) found adound a pack of diamond ore in 2h (10000 blocks straight and pokes to sides). But there were only 1, 2 or 3 ores veins. While i cave looking for ancient cities (or just adventure) ive found veins of 8, 10 and 12! Diamonds! But night vision is needed
After you get 5 diamond you should craft a enchantment table and pickaxe and enchante your pickaxe with fortune 3 after that you will get more diamonds
so many resources wasted! Pretty sure you even threw out some redstone when you were caving! It breaks my heart to see! yep, at 6:20 redstone wasted, remember you can craft redstone, and raw ores into blocks to save space will mining.
as a real beginner, i m looking for how did you build the mine, how do you not get lost, how do you go back up, i cant figure out how to make a shield, what s the purpose of the mining cart, and rails...how to use them.... maybe you explain later... but confusing now
Don't get what you mean by how did you build the mine but to not get lost you might place down torches. To get back up you can follow your trail of torches until your reach the surface or dig a staircase upwards. To make a shield place 1 iron ingot in the top middle slot in the crafting table with wooden planks surrounding it except for the bottom right and left slots. The purpose of the mining cart is to use it as transportation, to use the minecart you have to place it on the rails but the minecart wont move much if the regular rails aren't going down as it wont have momentum, to help with this you can place a powered rail every 16 blocks more or less depending on what speeds you want to reach. All of this could have probably be found if you googled it but I hope it helped.
It was an off day for me - lacking inspiration - so I went branch mining too, now I've watched this and wonder if you were somehow in the same tunnel, kidding of course, but I too came across that scary of all scary places, but I lacked the courage to keep poking through to see if the city was there. If so, mine may be a double, is that possible? Or do they spread across 600+ blocks distance? I turned tail and ran. Enjoying your content as much as ever!
It’s been so hard to find diamonds even branch mining that I’m still using iron for my armor but I’m working on my trading haul so there’s that going for me lol😅
How long do we have to go back and get our stuff after death before it’s gone forever? Once, I went back to find the zombie that killed me wearing my stuff! Cruel and unusual punishment.
Hey Jay, great video, however I feel like cave searching for diamonds was short lived because you started the timer at surface level and had to fight your way down, I feel like the timer should of started at diamond levels then fight mobs and whatnot
Anytime I stepped out of the cave, I paused the timer. And I was trying to be as realistic as possible about the scenario. If you're just playing, and happen upon a cave, you don't just get to skip past the surface level...still gotta traverse through it. :) Figured that should be part of the process.
I hope they remove the "too expensive" anvil error or we won't be able to max out our gear. Combining books to get maxed enchantments will make it impossible. 😕
Yeah, sadly even though branch mining is more affective, it can still be depended on luck Sometimes, the other day I mined for almost 2 hours and got no diamonds, I was so drained mentally after that and had no motivation to do it again so I just started caving😂
Every world, I build my branch mine. I dig a 2 wide stair case all the way down to desired level. Then I’ll make a hall way going left and right… and the 2 wide hall way, the wall in front of you, I leave those 2 blocks as a gap. And dig a branch down either side of those 2 blocks. Then repeat the pattern on either side of each branch. So it’s branch, 2 block gap, branch, 2 block gap, branch. And I have the stairs as “home base”. I’ll dig the branches down to a nice even number, like 0 or 100 /-100 Then I’ll build this bigger and bigger and bigger as I mine … wider hall way, more branches, deeper branches, turn around and dig the branches the other direction (under the stairs)… But basically create a perfect grid underneath my world, fully harvested of diamonds 😂
I hate when that crap happens. I'll have diamond armor and weapons and get blown up by a darn creeper. Then I have to fight the midget speed zombies that are wearing my stuff to get it back! 😅
It's actually not. If you're going for efficient mining, and most diamonds without obstacles such as running into lava, -54 is the best layer. At that layer, you can just dump water over lava and keep going. Lower than that, you'll end up with lava pouring down on you, or going through full lava lakes. Not worth the extra couple of diamonds.
