Chris tromp that doesn’t even make sense. If they’re so fast that you can’t hear them then how would we know that she’s been doing runs if you “can’t hear them” as you claim. Her runs can be heard perfectly and clearly by anyone with a working ear. I swear y’all lambs be making stuff up just to make Mariah seam better than what she actually is.
@Jo-Ash Scott Official He means you can't hear all the notes she does in her runs. They're visible, but you have to put the video on the slowest speed to hear the notes individually. And Mariah perfers the runs to blend in with the melody more instead of having random runs off to the side.
Arrow anyone with a working ear can hear all the individual notes when Mariah is executing her riffs and runs. Videos don’t need to be put in the “slowest speeds” in order to hear them.
there are a ton of girls non famous and not signed to majors that girls that these girls could not hold a candle too. Susu Bobien is way better and so is Michelle weeks absolutely sweat less!!. Maria sounds like she is trying too hard
Yesss for including Joy to the World and All the Man That I Need. Woo Tiyon gave me life. Whitney and Mariah are so special because of the way they retain that huge resonance and rich tonal quality throughout every single note and still being so agile. Omg and Hood Love, Slower, Emotion and Make Me Over are in this
I really would recommend you use more recent stuff from Beyonce like the 2007 and above I you should've tried songs like "Dreaming/Superpower/Dance For You/I Care/You Changed/Rocket/Love A Woman/I Rather Die Young/I Rather Go Blind" I think allot of those songs would've been more impressive since her tone is much more developed on them.
Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan ("Masterpiece" ALWAYS takes me DIRECTLY out the game), Kierra Sheard, Tonex, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, KEKE (YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!) are absolutely BEAST when it comes to those runs. And Claudette on Message to You, YAS! Epic SLAYAGE! Tiyon - YAS! on "Sleep In The Middle")
You cant do a compilation of descending runs without including Prince's melisma from Little Red Corvette... Great choices though!!! Also... check out Samoht and Yebba for some killer runs :O
"God loved us so much, when we were still sinners, that He decided to give up His son so that we could be saved. Jesus Christ endured all the pain and the suffering, so that we could be redeemed from our sins. Jesus had every single person, past, present and future, in mind when He chose to make that sacrifice. This is why we are able to identify as children of God. This is why we have eternal life. Dear God, I thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, and the fact that He is the reason I have been saved from eternal damnation. Thank you, Father, that I am justified and redeemed thanks to your Son. Were it not for your great act of love, Lord, I fear to think of where I would be. Thank you, Lord, that that is a future I do not need to worry about. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
Arthur Mendes you said in 2010's.....Mariah is a legend she will always be in the music book ☺ or something like that. But now she can't sing like before. .she lost it. Beyoncé brandy they still slayyyyyyyyyyyyyy....they got it.
Mark G actually they are hard to do because it's not the typical 'airy' runs other singers do. Her runs are precise and 'thicker' (I don't know how to exactly describe it). And her best runs happen on the LIVE settings and the collections here don't give justice to what she's capable of (watch 'Dangerously in love' The Beyonce Experience where she did a 'thick' and 'throaty' runs in the last part like HOW).
Beyoncé actually has THOUGHT Behind her runs. She doesn’t just “wing it” her control is the Best I’ve heard. Sure other singer may sing different scales out of the norm specifically minor chords and scales alas Kim Burrell and Brandy but that doesn’t make them better
I don't sing. However I am a HUGE fan of music & REAL talent (and the "Angelfully" channels as well). I was wondering if anyone can school me real quick. I don't know what a Run, Riff, or Melisma is, they sound similar to me tbh, & its difficult for me to differentiate.
+Marrico Rogers Hey, thanks for commenting. Riffs are a short set of notes that are sung repeatedly....for example at 0:57 Beyonce's runs in "Next Ex" are riffs. Melismas are a set of notes sung in one syllable. For example at 2:47 when Claudette sang "I..." she used about 21 different notes for that one syllable. So frickin impressive. A lot of the other runs throughout the video were a mix of melismas and riffs. I just grouped them under "vocal embellishments" because I was being lazy lol. I hope that explains it.
YES! whitney's 'JTTW' and i LIVE FOR mariah's ' oh jesus, what a wonderful child'!!! :D I love deitrick and stevie! whew! i got my life from this GREAT JOB! ive been planning to do one of these vids! :D
Leaving out Riff Kings Brian McNight, R Kelly & Chris Brown & even Ray Jay Brandy's brother----makes this odd & Riff Queens Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, & Celine Dion also, & the Riff Princesses...about 20 so I ain't naming them now...But thanks --you tried.
Really! Mariah is so freaking agile it's ridiculous, a lot of her runs are so fast you have to slow them down to hear every note! She's a beast just take 5:04 for example
Honestly, I never saw Whitney as a runner. I mean she did runs, but I always saw her more as a belter. Idk, maybe it's because her runs were too quick for me, and weren't sustained for a long enough period (To me), from the ones I heard.
+Dave Knight (KnightofScorpio) Lol Whitney is definitely a runner. Her style was very quick, crisp, and intricate. She heavily inspired Brandy, Tiyon, etc.
Who put this together?? These girls cant touch Susu Bobien. For descending runs its got to be dietrick haddon and Tonex. These guys can do it live and no auto tune ok you got Issac in there
