I ran out of space in the description box so here are the links to: La Beautyologist’s reapplication video: instagram.com/reel/COYIcNLgOt_/? Glow by Ramon powder over sunscreen video (to avoid stinging eyes): instagram.com/reel/CQWsww5noan/?
She didn’t remind me of Kenya. BUT if someone mentioned it, I could see it. Face shape and skin tone, wearing her hair like this, eyes. They’re both gorgeous dark skinned women.🤤 I just think Kenya ain’t the best person to remind people of🤣… Soo, nah I’m not automatically reminded of Kenya Moore mean ass face when I see this woman😂.
I’m born and raised in Puerto Rico and when I took my now husband to meet the family.. he’s pale as a ghost.. he sprayed spf and proceeded to tell me that he would be “fine”. The sun is the “same” everywhere. He learned very quick.
Helpful Hint: Wanted to reiterate. Mineral only Sunscreen around the eyes. I've used both the cotz invisible zinc and cotz matte spf around eyes when using face sunscreen with avobenzene filters
Thanks for the in-depth video! Another thing suggested for use for stinging eyes is a kids/baby sunscreen since they seem to have fewer ingredients in them than regular ones. Also, spf lip balms have been recommended (similar to the sunscreen sticks) for eyes as well. As for spf lip balms, Dr Dray has several videos on them and Glow by Ramon also has one.
I am in Texas so I am always trying to figure out what to use for Sunscreen. I thought you sound like you were from NY. I am a born and raise NY. New subbie!
Watching this sitting next to my husband and hoping your knowledge somehow gets into his brain! He is sooo resistant to wearing sunscreen, even though he wears tret nightly 🙄
YOU ARE TOO FUNNY😂 like I love you & your personality. This video is so informal & personable at the same time😭 but okay lemme get back to this video lol ❤️❤️
I use equate baby SPF 50 for my body it 4 dollars for 8 FL oz, I live in the Caribbean and I wear dat during the day it's kinda greasy but am sure if someone doesn't live in a humid area it would be amazing cause if am in ac all day it feels like nothing
I love murad. It goes on with a cast but def goes away after a couple of min. Very elegant. Don’t mind the price because it works. They claim it isn’t water resistant- I asked and searched their website high and low. When I do sweat or wet my face I see/feel slight resistance, however, probably not enough to make claims of water resistance
Thank you for teaching us how to use spray on sunscreen! I haven’t been doing a good job applying it. 😅 I never thought to put sunscreen on my scalp either! Thank you for all the advice. I’m playing mas this summer and want to be prepared. I need to improve my skincare routine in general so your videos are really helpful.
@@styleandbeautydoctor Toronto! Maybe one day I’ll make it to Barbados for Crop Over. Thanks. I was wondering what you’d suggest for sunscreen reapplication if you’re wearing fishnet tights and bodywear on your arms?
@@rina2410000 have fun! I would think that a spray would be the easiest to get through the fishnets. Make sure you saturate your skin with the spray and rub it in with your hands to ensure you put on enough.
The Kose - Suncut Aqualy UV Protect Gel is top tier!!! I can use it all year round but for hot weather I love the biore UV aqua rich (saved me while in AZ this summer on vacation) and the Shiseido sun protector lotion especially in the humid east coast weather both are water resistant and invisible on darker skin
I had some fun ideas, how about doing back to school teen stay clean 🧼 routine, A spin wheel skin care of the month, to make it more intriguing everything on the wheel can be the don’ts. And a more natural, perfume free skin care 🥰
Great video. Question about sunscreen on body and scalp. Should you wash it off the way you do for the face at the end of the day? If so do you recommend the double cleansing for the body as I've heard recommended for washing off sunscreen(and/or makeup) on the face? And how do yo wash off the scalp one?
Thanks for watching! I personally haven’t had an issue with washing off body sunscreen with my regular body soap, but if you use mineral sunscreen on your body, you may need to do an additional soap up and rinse to remove it. Or try using a loofah as long as it doesn’t irritate your skin. When it comes to scalp sunscreen, it really depends on which formula you use (oil, powder, lotion) and your hair routine. I would say that for most hairstyles you can just wash it out on hair day and to check to see if you need to add in a clarifying shampoo at some point.
Thank you for doing your series on sunscreens. Because of you I finally found two descent mineral sunscreens that I can reapply without looking crazy 😂. Would you consider doing a video reviewing make-up with mineral sunscreen and a separate one reviewing make up with chemical sunscreens ? Here are a few suggestions: -Elf CC camo cream (combo) -L’Oréal true match mineral powder (mineral /sable is probably the only color that might match) -Ilia foundation (mineral / you already reviewed it) -HALO HEALTHY GLOW TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 25 (combo) -Neutrogena healthy skin liquid make up (mineral) -PÜR 4-in-1 Pressed Powder Mineral Foundation with Concealer, Finishing Powder (mineral) -Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30/PA+++, (combo/ The shades Granada or Polynesia might match) -L'Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation (combo) -Color Science sun forgettable brush on powder (mineral / deep (their darkest shade) might work on someone Halle Berry’s skin tone)
Have you seen her video, Making *ANY* Mineral Sunscreen Work for Darker Skin or this one by Dr Alexis Stephens, Best way to REAPPLY sunscreen over makeup dark skin approved? They both mention SPF powders.
@@db-gb5xi yes I have seen those videos; the mineral powder she suggested is ashy on me; unfortunately many of the suncreens are ashy or look funny when I reapply them..I have had to put regular make up on top or clean my face with a disposable face wipe in between applications so I don't look crazy. Either-way thanks for the suggestions.
@@katiadelivrance1703 You’re very welcome. Sorry I didn’t know if it was a mineral. I was too happy in finding a sunscreen that wasn’t powder and could work right over my makeup. It doesn’t streak nor leave a white cast. It was a dream come true.
I saw the video with the ISDIN and I am darker than you and it works AMAZINGLY ❤️ I use that on my face. Worth the money. And got the body defense from Neutrogena. I also brought with me Cotz Flawless complexion which can be oily looking on some but I have dry skin so it works, lol. It melts into the face clear. Great video and content💖
Thk u so much 4 these sunscreen videos. I am learning so much! Now about this scalp sunscreen...i have dermatitis...maybe an oil sunscreen would be best? And are u supposed 2 wash out scalp screen daily? 😬😫 lol
You’re welcome! If you dermatitis in your scalp, I’d chat with your derm or trichologist first. Now when it comes to whether or not you wash scalp sunscreen out daily depends on the product you use and your hairstyle. Some protective hairstyles may not make it convenient to easily wash your hair daily.
I forgot to add, the Kroger gel does work great under makeup! I used it a few weeks ago when I got my makeup done and it was perfect! BGS was too oily so my MUA would have to blot my skin whenever I wore it. I wear BGS on a regular no makeup day.
When you use that sunscreen on a day you’ll be wearing makeup, do you moisturize and then apply the sunscreen and then go on top with makeup? Or do you put the sunscreen directly onto clean skin and then go in with makeup? I have oily skin so I was expecting that sunscreen to be a hit for me but it made my makeup look so bad on top. Also not sure if it was making my forehead break out in tiny bumps. But yeah, idk if it was my skin prep beforehand or the makeup I’m using or what. But I tried it both ways: moisturizer ---> sunscreen ----> makeup sunscreen---> makeup So idk 🤷🏻♀️
@@sams517 I have dry skin so I put moisturizer on beforehand and this dries matte on me. Surprised to hear that it didn't work for you and you have oily skin. The matte screams oily skin people 😆! It didn't make my makeup weird, but also know that it was professional makeup application. I will wear this on my arms on occasion and it'll leave a white cast in my elbow crease. I have no desire to buy it again after this bottle runs out. I'll stick to my original BGS moisturizer and make sure I blot before makeup.
@@sams517 which moisturizer did you use? I have oily skin so when I use it I definitely wear moisturizer underneath because it’s not one of those sunscreens I find moisturizing enough on its own. But I make sure the moisturizer matches the season. So in the summer I’d use a gel cream, give it a few mins, apply the Kroger gel and wait a few minutes, and then apply my makeup.
Hello Friend! I use Trader Joe's sunscreen for my body... but use a different one for the face too. Will have to check the Kroger dupe shimmer one for this summer! I'm determined to be 😎 3 shades darker this year since 2020 had me light😐 all year. This was SOOO informative thanks again Beautiful! 😘
I need an affordable, matte sunscreen that isnt the Neutrogena Breakout free because it breaks me out. Screenshoted all these, guess I'll go over the price/amount ratio later
Hi Thanks for making this video just wanted to give you a heads up there's been a huge recall on sunscreens. I know for sure the Neutrogena beach defense is on the list. thanks again :)
Hey-we talked about this on my community page back in May. I’m not sure I’d call it a “huge recall,” as there haven’t been any actual recalls yet (as of me typing this comment). You can find the FDA recall list to check on ANY recalls (food, drugs, cosmetics, etc) here: www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts?search_api_fulltext=benzene&field_regulated_product_field=All&field_terminated_recall=All What you’re referring to is a benzene contamination and there are specific sunscreens (you have to not only look at the brand name and product name, but the actual UPC, expiration date, etc) that were found to have some sort of benzene contamination. Regarding the Neutrogena Beach Defense sunscreens (and any other sunscreen on the list) again, you have to look at the specific product name, UPC, expiration date, etc as the whole entire line is not on the list-brands make products in batches so not every single one is affected even if the product name is the same-again, also look at the UPC, expiration date, etc) Beach Defense actually also has products on the “not detected” list: www.valisure.com/wp-content/uploads/Attachment-A-Table-5-of-Valisure-FDA-Citizen-Petition-on-Sunscreen-v2. For better insight and more info on the benzene contamination, Kind of Stephen on IG has two highlights talking about this issue: instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE4MTUxNDY5MTUyMTk5OTIx? instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODU0MzkwODgwNTcyODc2? And Lab Muffin has a video on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ykdJ7yj6snA.html
Girl, the sun is stunning vengefully out in the PNW and my people are whining and not ready. In true pnw fashion my ass was out in the woods when this video dropped so I am here to take more notes and go return this Neutrogena oily mess for spf I bought before my trip😭. Had a half a mind to dm you that a mosquito played me and my eyebrow so now I look like I got one eye full of filler💀💀💀
This won't affect everyone, but the Kroger's oil spray unfortunately triggered photosensitivity on my skin and I could not stop itching everytime I used it! It might have been one of fragrance ingredients in it but I had to go and return all of stash I bought :(
Love this vid! Just in time. Thank you so much for putting out this information for skin of color. It’s so needed and important. Definitely will check these sunscreens out! ❤️
Sunscreen should go last in your skincare routine. Here’s a blog post that includes a chart for the order to apply your products: www.thestyleandbeautydoctor.com/2020/03/order-apply-skincare-products-how-to-layer-skincare/ You can apply makeup after your sunscreen--but give the sunscreen (both mineral and chemical) about 15 minutes before applying makeup.
You should try out EleVen Sunscreen by Serena Williams for Credo beauty. It’s expensive $50 for 1 fluid ounce, but it’s worth it. No white cast and I think you would really enjoy it.
I have the Kroger oil but it seems like the fragrance is over powering and attracts bee's 😂😂! There's a sunscreen lotion from Trader Joe's that an esthetician recommended for the body that I'm gonna pick up! No white cast 👻
Scalpppp 😳Is she obsessed with sunscreens Let me not even start it here that am one of those people who don't wash there hair daily as I always have corn rolls inside my wigs 🙃
Just wondering if you're planning to do style content again. I'm respectfully exhausted with all the sunscreen content. I love your personality and miss the fashion.😶
Well I was respectfully exhausted with posting fashion content that nobody was watching 🤷🏿♀️ The minute I stopped posting fashion, my channel finally started to grow. I’m allegedly starting a fashion channel in a few months.
@@nancykerrigan lmaooo! Listen, I want to do it, but have to figure out how to handle both. Fashion content will do better on a fashion-niche channel 💪🏿💪🏿
