I am fine of your work. I watch all the video you made. I learned a lot form you. I never use gesso I have one doubt clear gesso and acrylic gesso both are work same ?
I don't know clear gesso but many you mean a product to seal off first. That is a primer. Than a couple of layers of Gesso. You can apply gesso that is ment for acryl paint. Gesso is a gypsum / plaster and the best ground for oil paint.
I don't know if you've mentioned it before, but with oil paints do you paint in a ventilated space, is it necessary? For this reason I'm using acrylics now, but would like to use oils as well. Do you paint in the same way with acrylics. Thank you for your tutorials - I'm starting to watch them now and they are very helpful. You are an excellent painter!
@@lustenhouwer naja, in jouw korte demonstratie is dat kleine stukje mdf al behoorlijk gebogen... Wordt dat weer beter na het drogen? Wat is met omgevings-vocht opname, als de achterkant niet behandeld is?
Ben, does it matter if the board is bowing/bending a little after the gesso has dried? Or does it flatten out once it has dried? If not, can it flattened? Thanks.
I dont see the problem with not being a carpenter x3 Thanks for your impressions! Recently I had the exact problem of not doing a good base coat and all the oil got sucked into the panel. Means I do need some Gesso...
If I use only gesso process its not working?
Do you ever use that binder or something else to glue your canvas to the MDF board or do you skip using the canvas altogether? Is your gesso acrylic or oil based?
You can use the binder as a glue to stick the canvas to the MDF board. But there are more products to do so. Gesso is water based but to be used for oil paint as well as acrylics.
Hi Ben, is that binder a PVA sealer, it looks like that especially when it dries transparent, we might use this to seal plaster board for the same reason to halt the absorption of paint into the plasterboard?
Thank you for these tips :) it’s helpful and i’d like to try MDF. Is the primer you use “Liant Caparol” ? And do you use it(binder) surface after finishing painting ?
I apply Caparol-Binder first. On top three layers of Gesso. After finishing the painting a retouching varnish ( after three weeks ). And after a year a final varnish.
