My doctor swore up and down that open was better... but at this point it's too late I already got it done and it's so true, I have massive scar tissue on the outside now
Sorry to hear about. How orthopaedic surgeons are trained plays heavily into their treatment choices. Every surgeon has a bias for patients to consider when they make their final choice on which approach/procedure to undergo. We wish the best in your Achilles recovery, and while we wish you an injury-free future, here is an article written by Dr. Stone to help guide patients in understanding the bias of their surgeon www.stoneclinic.com/blog/Bias-Your-Surgeon
The only important issue here is the scar tissue ON the tendon. The skin scar is irrelevant on this case. You can have plastic surgery or whatever, but if your tendon works or doesn't work properly, that is the only one and important issue here. Capichi ? :)
I will be happy when I get back close to the level of activity I had before the injury. The scar to me is just a reminder of poor decision making under pressure. So, hope to have learned from this. 😊. Be safe and the best for your recovery .
