Thank you! I'm new to the whole genre, got into it through suggestions from Flyleaf to Evanescence to Nightwish, and hadn't know how many other bands like this were out there. This really helps!
Lots of epic stuff in here I'll have to check out.. Nicely done! I thought I considered myself a fan of this genre, but a lot of these bands I haven't even heard of.

Glad to see I have most of those bands (all the best ones too) and just as glad to hear some new bands that were good too. I have a huge list now to download (been up all night scouting for new bands). :)
Wow. I love Nightwish and Epica, and you forgot Within Temptation and Magica, but I haven't heard of the others, except Therion. I need to look up that Overdream though!!!!!

Oh yes, you made me want to listen to beyond the veil right away :P That album has an unique sound and composition style, I recomend it to everybody. Also you guys should check Virgin Black, like someone said down there.
Wholly crap! I'm from the old school of metal(black sabbath, iron maiden, judas priest ect..) I never explored this genre of metal before and this stuff sounds awesome! Thanks for the exposure. Looks like i have some new bands to listen too. This is smokin.
im new to this type of music, is there any like of of a guy with deep voice singing sort of like the one that always plays when goth kids in southpark are around? like a guy singing in a very deep voice. ty
Nightiwish > Tristania in my opinnion. To not include Within Temptation or Lacuna Coil is really interesting (particularly since WT is better than 80% of those bands) Good list though thanks!
Guys therea this song I've been trying to find....the song started a church bell ringing with a man talking about judgement day, something about the keeper....some of the lyrics I remember the female vocalist singing were, live and let live
@MysteriousAsteria: I agree with you except with regards to Tristania, Draconian and Trail of Tears (and probably a couple of others). They're all actual gothic metal bands. Symphonic metal =/= gothic metal, but at the same time, having symphonic elements doesn't stop you from being gothic metal.
are these your top symphonic/Gothic metal bands? you have an amazing line up. don't worry I won't ask you where is so and so. most of the bands I'm not familiar with but sound amazing
@VladWolfshade I def agree with you, every band in this video sounds like Nightwish in one way or another, I honestly think Tristania is the only band I'd actually take time to check out
@MissMochaa Of course! =D I'm glad I found a person that understands this! It's just wasting time to spend it for argueing about stupidities like this, everyone should accept and respect musical taste of all the people (and I'm not speaking only about music, but I mean in general).
Old Nightwish is the best! The voice of Tarja is just...amazing!!! Therion rulez!, Haggard!, Theatres des vampires!! Hey! Sharon den Adel, is great! Within temptation is so much better than Sirenia... The video is good! :)
