I just launched my RU-vid channel and I had no idea, until just the other day, that some RU-vidrs used teleprompters. I can not thank you enough for making this video. This will help me save time while taping and editing (which I'm also new and not very good at doing). This will, MOST IMPORTANTLY, help me to correct saying "so" in my videos so often that anyone could make it into a drinking game. A million thank yous to you. I liked and subscribed.

I use Teleprompter Pro at work in a studio. Try the free version before buying because some voices work better than others. My boss is a former English professor and public speaker who speaks clearly and concisely. Half the time this app can't understand what he's saying. It seems to understand me much better. That said, when it works, it is a thing of beauty. Unlike other apps, you can choose to digress from the script and it will pause scrolling, resuming when you get back to script. You can speed up. You can slow down. It follows your lead. The end result is an output that can sound more natural and less scripted.

Absolutely recommend the Parrot teleprompter. I use it and get great results. But I would agree, you might want to shop around for another app. The Parrot one is really not great. Also, a huge design flaw on the controller is that it makes a loud click when you press the buttons. Not great. Still, the actual teleprompter is brilliant.

Hey Justin - I use my iPad every Sunday - I need a teleprompt where I can block my paragraphs and use the voice recognition. I like the 2 teleprompt that scrolls itself and I don't mind periodically going back to repeat. Also what's important is, when I stop reading, it will stop scrolling until I pick up where I left off. My question is which would be better for me, I don't really use the video option (a good option to have but not necessary). Thank you

I use iAutocue, £8.99 but it has everything I need, plus great editing of the copy and an iOS remote. Used to use PromptSmart Pro until they went to subscription. Great content as usual...

Thanks for the great content! The issue i'm finding with all these apps is that the recording gets flipped when you play it back. Iphones build in camera has a setting to stop the flipping but since these apps have their own built in camera, I haven't found a way to solve that problem. Any solutions??

Great video. I've used the Parrot teleprompter, but in my case, I had 2 issues with it. 1. The glass isn't as high quality as a proper teleprompter. obviously, this is to be expected since it's a portable one, however, this makes the text less visible. I was trying to get this to replace my other bigger teleprompter, so it was literally a side by side comparison. And 2. Because the teleprompter sits on the ring, this was causing the lens to make a noisy sound went it tries to focus. So I think this is more of a design fault. It would've been much better if the teleprompter supports itself on the actual lens itself, not just the ring. I understand not all lenses work the same. With my lens, the actual ring moves when it tries to focus, therefore the issue, but there are other lenses that the whole focus is inside, so I guess with those you won't have an issue. As for the apps, PromptSmart Pro is definitely a great choice. The best app I found so far which works really well with voice.

Many thanks for this informative video. I have been using "Elegant Teleprompter" app for years now and am very very happy with it. It got lots of options too like margin and font resizing, focus highlight resizing, etc. It also has a remote control and I use it more often when presenting. Some of my viewers were actually commenting that I speak so naturally on camera and for so long hehe. They do not know that am using one hehe. Perhaps you can try reviewing it, and the creator continues to update the software.

I've used the voice-track feature on the PromptSmart Pro for more than a dozen videos, and I've found it way too painful to continue using. It constantly skips ahead in my scripts for no apparent reason even though I'm talking close to a mic connected to it. I guess the scroll feature in one of the apps Justin recommended will have to do.

Great episode Justin! I use the Parrot. A big change from having to rig up the supports for a laptop on a tripod and the hood over an ENG camera when doing field shoots. The on-screen app for selfie videos will work great for those walk ‘n talk vlogs and at that price, amazing value!! You only have to shoot a couple videos to appreciate how much effort this saves. A mix of tools is the best solution so you have the right one(s) for the project requirements. 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

Hi Justin, Great Video, as always! I just started using the Video Teleprompter App this week and love it for shooting videos on my phone. My Q is: for when I want to shoot videos on my DSLR could I rig the phone up with my Jobi, right below my camera lens so that the words are scrolling just below it or do you think my eyes would look like they are looking too low? I shoot from about 3 ft away and have good eyesight at that distance! Hoping this might work before an investment in the Parrot teleprompter since I'm just starting out.

I have an IDEA for you Justin. Is there a LENS for the iPhone 11 that will work with the DESVIEW Tele? That will be a huge video because On-The-Go filming would be huge if there is a Good Video lens for the iPhone 11. That would really make a difference for using a Selfie Stick with the Tele and 2 iphones, one for filming and one for teleprompter. Lightweight.

Prompter pal has all these features and more and costs only $8 with no annual subscription. For me the best feature is the ability to mark locations in the text and jump there with one button touch. To sum up - much better and much cheaper. Acknowledgement: I am in no way related but am just a user.

When i change fount to a bigger size, words are broken at the end of line. i think this is basic flaw. But if you sync speed with voice it stuck at these broken words.

Initially, I found your video really useful. I downloaded Promptsmart Lite to try it out and was rather impressed. Then I downloaded and paid for the Pro version. It doesn't work! It freezes even though I am speaking perfectly clearly and it struggles to get through just a simple, short piece. I've just requested a refund. I just can't understand why the Lite worked so well but not the Pro version. I only bought pro because I needed it to be mirrored for my prompter. Back to the drawing board.

So, I want to just have my iPad set up as the “teleprompter” and then use either my phone or my dslr as the video device. I don’t want to use a teleprompter device or be restricted to just using my phone. What do app do you suggest for that?

I am having big problems with PromptSmart Pro. the voice activation stops throughout my reading the script. It is so frustrating. Be aware of this problem.

I've used the voice-track feature on the PromptSmart Pro for more than a dozen videos, and I've finally reached my breaking point and given up on it. It constantly skips ahead in my scripts for no apparent reason even though I'm talking close to a mic connected to it. I really wanted it to work too. I guess I'll have to use a regular scroll feature in a teleprompter app like most other people do.
