I live in Massachusetts now, but I was born and raised in Redding. Whenever my family had people from out of town visit, the few places we would take them to is Burney Falls, Burrito Bandito, Dutch Bros, and then a drive up to Mount Shasta sometimes. Depending on how long they were in town would determine what more we did but we always took them to one of those.
I live in Redding, I have been to Whiskey town lake, Shasta Lake, Shasta Caverns, and Sun Dial Bridge/Turtle Bay (they are close to each other). Also been rafting on the Sacramento River. Haven’t been to Lassen Volcanic park yet. You forgot to mention Burney Falls and great fishing in Fall River area. There is much beauty here: Cascade Mountains to the east and the Trinity Mountains to the west. Mount Shasta to the north. I did a few backpacking trips when I was much younger. It does get hot here, but we have the Sacramento River that runs through town, Whiskey town lake to the west, and Shasta Lake to the north.
I lived in Shasta Co. from 1955 to 1975. It is HOT AS HELL there; I have seen temps in the 123* range on more than one occasion. That's when Shasta Lake was nice to be in. Now the county and Redding are the worst; crime and homeless camp are everywhere. Have friends that still live there and most want to get out. I moved to Southern Or. in early 80s, never go back to California after that. It does have pretty country around there I'll give it that, just do not go in mid-summer.
Why? Redding is overrun with drug addicts, criminals and the homeless. The police are so overwhelmed that they will no longer show up for shoplifter calls. Thieves openly walk out of stores with anything they want including Microwave ovens and nothing is done to stop them. You can steal up to $950 and only be issued a misdemeanor ticket for doing so, IF the police show up. Cars are routinely broken into in parking lots. Drug houses are everywhere. Talk to the police before moving into Redding!@@serhiikomar8800
@OnViewCation Too many homeless and drug addicts who will attack you if you don't give them money. Our jails are overcrowded causing our courts to release repeat sex offe ders and drug addicts. As well as the homeless who have been arrested over a dozen times. It makes this town very unsafe for people to come to live and raise their children
