I did an experiment this month where I switched my posting time by 12 hours, doing it in the AM for me (PM for majority of my followers) instead of posting in the evening. So far, I'm not too sure if the boost in engagement has to do with the different posting time or because my photos have changed for the better lately. I think posting during my mornings gives me a better chance to catch other people who live outside of the US since those of us who are ahead are settling into mid-day breaks or evening breaks as the US is going to bed.
Really helpful, as always!! I'm from Australia, with mostly ALL of my audience in the US... so optimal for me is 3am hahahaha not sustainable, so I tend to post LATE (say, 11pm) before my bedtime, and they have the post during their morning or lunch... so it helps, a little. Best I can do!
I've noticed my reels do well when I post on Saturday and Sunday evenings. A lot of my reels are just capturing pretty landscape with a song that fits the vibe. So maybe this is the type of content people like to see when they're winding and getting ready for the week? I don't have a professional account, so I don't have access to insights.
Sorry, completely unrelated, but I had to say that I love what you did with your hair! Really took me by surprise at first (double take). There, now that I've said what's on everyone's mind... thank you for this video. I recently created a profile for my short poetry, and I had no idea what peak times were available, so some note taking was in order and now I have at least an inkling of where to start given my busy day-to-day schedule. Either in the morning between 8-9am cuz people are getting up checking their phones from overnight, or in the evening around 8-10pm cuz people are home and relaxing on their phones. Afternoons are tricky, even more so during the week. It’s a hit or miss, unless you’re a celebrity figure.

Your posting time really depends on your target audience. Mine works at 7AM, 5PM, 7PM-9PM cause that's the time people usually check their phones. You don't wanna post when it's office hours. :)
I totally agree! I posted a Reel at 10am this morning and it got almost 400 views! That's really good for me because I'm still new to the Reels game. So your Right On! 👍🏻

So Millie (first of all, huge fan). I'm in UK (GMT) I've been trying different times and strangely, my better times are in line with the EST/PST average times you shared rather than the graph at the end which showed that 4-6am is a good time for UK. For e.g. when you said that average best posting time for reels in ESTN is xx (I can't remember now without going back lol), I jus converted it to GMT and I reflected that that's actually when my reels/posts would do better too! So much good stuff! 1) That gummy bear for "short and sweet"...amazing. 😂 2) I post first thing when I wake up at 6:30am PST four days a week and apparently that fits into Later's best times to post! 3) Is there an optimal time for Stories? Or is that on a different algorithm?
Hahahaha the gummy bear was my favorite part 🙈🙈 There is no optimal time for stories, but I do have a video that talks about how to increase engagement/views for stories!
Man, I've been struggling with abnormally low reach lately, and then your time zone map gave me an epiphany! I checked my top 5 cities, and NYC was number one. I've been posting at 8 am West Coast time and realized I've been leaving out every other time zone east of me. I scheduled a post for 8 am Eastern time this morning, and my reel blew up! I think best time would be around 5pm for me? In South Africa most people get off work at around 4-5 so it'd be good to build engagement at that time with the post and have it hit their screens when they arrive home. Furthermore my followers age group is still quite young so they'd be busy in the day with sports/school and only be on their phones in the evening. I guess it makes sense 🤪😆

There's no universal time to post. It all comes down to where the majority of your followers are. Always check your insights. Then you can experiment with few posting options and choose the one that give the best results. At least that's what I did! 👍
I have realized it too for example half of my followers are European, Insta is poppin between 2 am and 9 am CT, but then not really especially not the late afternoon for my target audience... Also, I think that would be great if Insta would have a timed posting option, so you just set (like on YT when you schedule an upload, so you do not have to press the button at the very second), I think that would help a bunch to stuck with this system and analytics.

I don't have a large following. Maybe a 100 give or take. And I've done some research into my followers, I have followers pretty eventlyscattered all around the globe. So I am at a loss as to when to post. I just try to mix it up. Sometimes I post in the morning sometimes at night. They all seem to get about the same amount of engagement. A pretty sad amount tbh. 😞
Hi- I’m curious, is there a limit to how often you can post reels? I was posting 3-5 reels a day and I notice after a couple days my reels now get 0 views (I don’t always share them to feed so I don’t bug my followers )
2:15 He says look at Insights for that info, but I can't find it. It used to be easy to find, but now Idk where that particular stat is located in Insights. 👀 Anyone know WHERE it's located? That question aside, definitely agree that there is no longer a "perfect time". I tried to keep a schedule (usually Fridays at 330pm my time), but when I was consistent, I saw all stats drop off**. But when I posted "randomly", the engagement etc all picked up again.
I believe you need either a 'Creator' or 'Business' account for Insights. You will have Insights directly as a button on your profile or through the menu bar.
The new algorithm has serious messed with my likes and engagement. I recently posted a photo which would normally perform well, but only received half the engagement.
