I went in last week of September 2022 near zanskar festival, I would say the best time to visit, rivers Are blue, trees are yellow/orange, roads are in awesome condition and less crowd! And on the top of that we had snow covered shinkula pass, singe la pass and what not!

Hello Dheeraj, your videos are very extremely insightful and I enjoy watching those. In a sense my upcoming Zanskar valley trip (end of Jun) was hatched seeing your video. So Thank you for creating content for us. One question I have is about acclimatisation, my current plan is Srinagar-Kargil-Padum-Purne-Manali. Plan to stay at Srinagar, Kargil, Padum one night each. Would it be okay. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Hey, great video. Been following you for a long time now. I just wanted to know, I've done the batal gramphu road on my bike in spiti, do you think I should make the leh zanskar trip in first week June or should I take the easier kargil route instead?
@discoverwithdheeraj
@discoverwithdheeraj Год назад
Saksham, you should be able to do the jjourney to Zanskar buddy as Batal Gramphu is equally or more challenging which you have already done.. so you have the experience of such roads already.

Dheeraj Bhai please accept my unfeigned regards for all these valuable information 🙏 Please advise me if I should embark on Zanskar trip along with family this summer and I should expect a memorable trip. I always prefer to take my family along with me. Also advise as which accommodation in Padum I should book in advance and whom should I connect with to book. I would prefer to follow the route from Delhi to Manali to Padum to Leh followed by Kargil, Sonematg, Srinagar then back to Delhi

Suman bhai, well, am so happy these videos are proving useful to you. Bhai summer is a great time to visit Zanskar valley.. you can take your family there.. spend first three nights as Solang, Jispa and Purne. You shall be fine. Leave surely by 7 AM from Jispa to cross any water crossings early.. rest you shall be good as you have already experienced these roads in the past..

Thanks Dheeraj for your informative videos, I really look forward to them! Can you help answer: Is it safe to travel by 4x2 SUV like Jeep Compass to Padum from Manali. I have traveled across Ladakh and Spiti in my 4x2 Jeep, but was not sure about Zanskar. I picked up from some videos/blogs that post Shinkula pass there are some dangerous river crossings and a 4x4 is mandatory. Can you help clarify, so I can plan my trip this season.
@discoverwithdheeraj
@discoverwithdheeraj Год назад
Thank you brother.. As you have already done such trips, it shall be OK to travel to Zansakr Valley via Shinku La as well. The water crossings have been tamed a bit but it really depends upon season you are traveling. IF you travel in May time frame, and start early in the morning those water crossings should not be an issue. Similarly if you do it towards end of the season like last three weeks of September or first couple of weeks of October, you shall be fine.
@niladrimajumdar1
@niladrimajumdar1 Год назад
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks for the quick response. One leading question: Are these water crossings similar to what used to be few years ago between Manali and Kaza or are they worst off? As now they are even tamed and the biggest nalah has a small bridge being made since last two years.
@discoverwithdheeraj
@discoverwithdheeraj Год назад
Yes they are similar in nature bhai.. so very leaving early in Jispa and mainly avoiding rains will help you cross them. They are mainly before Gombo Rangjon so that ways if you leave early from Jispa half the job is done

@discoverwithdheeraj
@discoverwithdheeraj Год назад
Julley bhai.. yes you can visit Kaza by end of May with your car from Shimla side. Snow may be available towards Kunzum Pass and beyond and chance of Manali Kaza being open will be like 60:40 in favour by the time you reach there

Hi !! THANK YOU for all the content, you are really helpfull! I have a question! I'm thinking on doing a circular route doing Leh - Lingshed - Padum - Darcha - Leh. So I return back to Leh via Manali - Leh highway instead of going to Kargil. Another option would be to do the opposite way. I'm going to do it by bike ( Royal Endfield +350cc). Do you think is feasible to do it? Thank you "
@discoverwithdheeraj
@discoverwithdheeraj Год назад
Yes Nil, it is possible to the above direction. However, it is important to note that the descend on the passes from Sirsirla and Singela are steep and from Murgumla/Lingsehd to all the way down to Lingshed Junction point towards Zangla is very very very steep and muddy. So, going down in this direction it will put lot of effort on brakes. Plz make sure to use gear braking and let the bike cool down with every couple of hairpin bends.. it is very very important else mechanical failure can happen in the middle of nowhere.
@niladaliaibarrola
@niladaliaibarrola Год назад
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you so much! So maybe you reccomend me to do it on the opossite way? Leh - Darcha - Padum - Lingshed - Leh ? Thank you!
@discoverwithdheeraj
@discoverwithdheeraj Год назад
No, I am trying to say is that you can do it this way but plz make sure to give 10-15 minutes rest to the bike after every couple of bends when coming down from Murgumla/Linghsed point to the downmost point towards Zangla. Even if you go from other side then as well same thing applies, just that instead of brakes engine willl be on load in other direction.

Most likely the road shall be open as these days they tend to keep the Zanskar road open in winter too. So, you may find Zanskar Valley route open from Pensila side. Just go prepared with buffer days because if it snows, it may get you stuck beyond Pensi for couple of days. If weather is clear, I think you should be able to make it.

Road conditions depend upon season time. Best road conditions will be towards end of season like mid September to first two weeks of October. At that time you can try but only try if you have expeience of driving in bad/rough roads in the mountains. Otherwise higher ground clearance vehicle is always preferred when traveling to Zanskar Valley

This is called Drang Drung Glacier which comes right after you cross Pensila Pass when travel from Kargil - Rangdum towards Padum. So the route is like Kargil to Rangdum, then from Rangdum the ascent to Pensila Pass starts. After climbing Pensila Pass you start going down towards Padum and after couple of kms, this magnificient view point of Drang Drung Glacier will come on your right side.
