I have commented on this before..a consumers who spend 80 to 150 bucks on a brewer should NOT have to deal with an inferior product. Also they should NOT have to tear apart a brewer to reset an inferior made thermal protector. Same thing with a cheaply made plastic latch. Keurig has manufactured a lot of garbage in recent years. I know first hand. I've gone through 4 k smarts with internet in 1.5 years, albeit replaced under warranty . Once this last one goes, it's Ninja all the way for me.
I have the Elite now, happy to see it’s not on the worse list. I bought it cheap when the Keurig website was having a subscription deal. My husband likes the hot water button. I had a supreme I had bought at Costco and it didn’t last long. I’m on several different Costco Facebook pages and see people comment on them a lot about them breaking down. Good to see you for once. And congratulations on subscriber count!
Thank you for making these videos, I’ve used them several times in making a purchase decision, and I always go back to look at the descaling videos because I always forget. But, for me, my favorite Keurig ever was the Keurig 2.0. It lasted us over seven years being used 2 to 4 times a day. They just don’t make them like they used to.
I bought a Keurig Commercial K1500 in 2018 on sale from Staples for $98CAD. I have used that machine several times daily since I bought it and it has been rock solid. It's going on 6 years problem free as a work horse. I'm guessing maybe Keurig's commercial line of products are built with better components or to a higher standard than their regular machines.
I have had a classic for 13 years. It is loud!!! But going strong. I want a slim for work but Im nervous that it will stop working or will leak. Ill go back and check out your videos to help me decide. Thank you for all your videos!!❤looking forward to trying your coffee, if you have decaf.😊
I'm a Keurig fanatic, I'll don't even think of buying another brand of coffee maker. Congrats on the YT achievement and for your own coffee brand. I'll be looking forward to try it. Best wishes!!
I've used Keurig coffee makers for many years. My current one (K-cafe w/ magnetic frother) is acting up on occasion. The coffee is watery even in strong mode. I'm planning to switch to a dedicated espresso machine for better results. I was hoping the newer models would be better, but I haven't seen consistent promising feedback on them.
I haven't purchased a new machine yet, so I'm still using the cups. If the machine works decently after purchasing a different machine, I may use both temporarily, particularly for comparison until I run out, or give some to friends who have a Keurig.
Congratulations on more than 100,000 subscribers! That’s awesome! Thanks for still having that soothing voice, although for this video you were very excited!
@@JustADad If you can go back to the previous style.. of just pointing things out.. ya know, not being on camera... nothing personal... just awkward :)
Hello, Just a Dad, I watched this video and wanted to say thank you a ton. At 5:41, you talked about the new update keurig did that switched the hot water rinses to cold water rinses, so no more needing to wait on cooling off. Thank you so much again. I can't say i agree with you on calling keurigs customer support, i have the keurig k cafe smart. When i did the first descale on it, i let it cool off. During the rinses, it was cold water, i thought my keurig was malfunctioning. So i called keurig. The guy said we can't help you or tell you anything about what's causing your issue until you descale again in 3 months with us on the phone, so we can figure out the cause. I asked the guy do you have a database of errors, what caused those errors, and the solutions to those errors. i got no response. I asked, "Can i please get my keurig replaced with a new 1 and send in this malfunction?" He said sure if in 3 months, this happens again with keurig on the phone." So i had to go to Target. Swap it out myself the old-fashioned way. Wish i watched this first their was nothing wrong lol, can i ask you to make a video talking more about the keurig software updates, more information about what keurigs need a cool down before rinses, what keurigs have the cold water rinses software update. You helped me learn something about my keurig thank you, sir. I always like to teach others who have taught me something. It's fair, everyone learns more and everyone benefits with more knowledge. To use the my k cup reusable pod properly, use the red ring for single needle keurigs, remove red ring for multi brew keurigs. Also, please add this to your keurig tips and tricks. When i load a fresh k cup pod in my Keurig K Cafe Smart, i push the pod all the way down onto the bottom needle. It releases the pressure in the pod. The built-in filter keeps the coffee grounds in the pod. Released pressure in the pod prevents coffee grounds from being blown up into the needle and keurig. Caused by the top needles poking top holes before the bottom needle can vent the pod while closing the keurig. No more clogged needles. I wanted to share with you the maintenance and care routine i use for my keurig k cafe smart brewer. I only use purified bottle water. At the end of each week, i use a rinse pod to clean out everything. I use eyeglass wet wipes to clean the camera lens. I pull everything off and out to wash clean and sanitize. Then, refill the water for the week. Once a month, i change the carbon water filter, and every 3 months, i descale with the keurig solution. Thank you again for helping me solve my cold water rinse issue that wasn't a malfunction. Thank you Happy brewing, Just a Dad.
Such a great video. I wish I had looked at this first. Just brought the Keurig duo Essentials and it was a bust just like you said. The water wasn't coming out. I called Keurig and they walked me through the steps of unclogging, but I was over it for a brand-new machine and am buying a stand alone Keurig.
If you have the opportunity look at a B3000se or K3000se for reliability. I know the B3000se and the K3000se are commercial brewers that have not been manufactured since 2019, but a good used one has been very reliable for me. Descaling is usually not done until it's too late on these either, but once descaled works well. The only problem I have had is the air pump failing, but they are available on eBay or Amazon. Since these are commercial brewers they are easy to repair. A repair manual is available online for download that includes diagrams, part numbers, troubleshooting, and instructions for removal of parts. They are designed to be disassembled, no flimsy water tank and they have modular replacement parts. I've had mine for about 15 years.
I've had the K Elite now for over 3 years and have never had a problem with it. I love it. I descale it every 60 days with vinegar/water. I hope it never goes bad, but nothing lasts forever.
Have a K Supreme Plus smart and love the machine. I can say the standard Supremes do indeed have some issues, at least the early manufactured units. I have had to fix two standard Supremes for family members of mine by resetting the thermal switch.
I have a Toastmaster "Keurig" coffee maker. Sure, it's not fancy. But it gets the job done. I also have a Toastmaster 12 cup. It also is not fancy but it works reliably. I paid $53 for both. I don't care if things are cheap as long as they work reliably.
I've had the Classic and never descaled it. I always put filtered water in it. But I gave it away to my daughter and got out of the Keurig makers, went to something else. Now I'm back to Keurig and got the Walmart K-Express Essentials and just went thru a descale this morning with it.
Great video. Just bought a select model, a friend of mine has had one quite awhile, no issues, so i bought one. Hopefully it will be reliable. Im happy with the coffee it produces.
I've bought and returned a few K-Supreme Plus machines from Costco. I'm done. This latest one leaks all around the cup holder. I'm leaning towards one of the K-Cafe's now.
Im happy my K-Elite was mentioned as being reliable, i have had it for years and love it, the screen is a short learning curve but the thing is built like a tank!
I rewatched this video and do your recommendations....I purchased the CLASSIC, COMPACT ... AND The SELECT....The Select was not available through your link as I could not find it on Amazon...I got it at Best Buy... I do have the Elite and K-Supreme...of those...the Elite has no problems...I bought the three above bec we'd rather have consistency and hopefully no problem with descale actions....I THANK you for all you did in this review...~cheers~ ! Hi. Have you checked out, or will you be checking out the NEWSETS Single Serve Coffee Maker for K Cups and Ground Coffee, 4 in 1 Coffee Machine with Grinder and Milk Frother? I would love to hear how it compares to the Keurig Cafe Barista! P.S. I just discovered your channel, but I will be using it for ASMR tonight when I go to sleep. Lol your voice is perfect for it and I like all the sounds too. It is what us ASMR people call unintentional ASMR. Anyway would love to see a review of that newsets coffee machine.
Great video! I have both the K Supreme Plus at home and the Classic machine at our 2nd home and you are spot on! That Classic is going strong! It’s tried and true. I thank you for this fantastic and informative video. I trust your wisdom with everything K-cup related. 😀
@@JustADad If you didn't edit them out, it wasn't an oops... I highly doubt you "forgot" to edit the video. Which means the beginning was planned... which is ok... but oops?
You need to use filtered water in these.I use rodi water and my current keurig is going on 8 years old.I never need to descale it as there is nothing in the water but hydrogen and oxygen. It also makes the coffee taste better.
Ive had the k classic for over 10 years and have had no problems, but unfortunately I got a Duo Essentials this year for Christmas and it didn't even work! I'm going to stick with my classic 😅
My kids got me a Keurig Duo for Christmas a few years ago. I had it for about 2 years until one day I was brewing a single cup and smoke started pouring out of the back of the machine. I unplugged it and carried it out of the house before it started a fire.
i have that big original KCafe and i got it for my wedding in 2019. I had to send it back because it wouldn't brew past 170 degrees F , the frother never frothed and the company's suggestion was to use fat free milk only. They did send me a replacement but yesterday found out its leaking out the bottom which sucks! I really wanted to know which new keurig would be worth my money and I came across your video. I loved the intro it made me laugh. but thank you for the information I feel so much more informed! i may pick up that k cafe barista with the detached frother based on your recommendation
Nice review. For me the ones I have owned that are the most reliable are the 3 K-Classic, 2 K-Elite, and 1 the K155 is a beast at making coffee. The only downfall I see on all three of these are if your running solar or off grid at night. These with the pots inside can turn off after two hours but during that 2 hours it will “sip” 730 watts every minute for 8 seconds over that 2. hours before it turns off. This could be a concern if you are/need to be emergency conscious.
Keurig k supreme plus is the worst!! I have replaced mine 4 times in 2 years as it just stops working and burns something in the circuitry. It makes great coffee but completely not reliable.
Yes I really love keurig. But just briefly. My wife has purchased 3 in two years. I’m not a coffee snob so I’m not really qualified to say anything. Of course having said that I’m looking for an alternative to keurig. I’ve got some coffee pods and now I’m reduced to heating up water, running water thru a stainless steel strainer on top of a paper towel. It works. My wife and son use a French press. But I can’t stand all the residual coffee grounds at the bottom. But if that’s my biggest problem in life I suppose it’s all good
So far I've ordered 2 x K-Elite models in a row that were both defective and now I'm waiting on a 3rd model. Very disappointing. Having them take the tank light out of this model was bad enough, but this new quality issue is a problem. The first one stopped working after 2 days. This new one has a catch in the handle closing that I have no idea how to fix without ripping it apart. I literally just got it delivered and unboxed when I discovered this. I'm already waiting on a replacement. If the 3rd try fails, I'm definitely telling me to avoid the K-Elite as radioactive. I'm willing to put up with that 250 count descale at this point and let the boilers go if it's going to be like this.
I’ve learned so much from you thank you I have the kiwis supreme plus & theres 3 of us that use the machine 3-6 X’s a day & the d Descale light turns on q 2 months 1st X I descaled it it took 2-3 pitchers of water but I waited over a week before I descaled it so I learned my lesson again thanks again for all your knowledge & wisdom 🙏🏻
Thanks for helping me replace my keurig. After reading comments here i found a insta brand single cup coffeemaker on sale on Walmart site for only $25. Of course after i click add to cart it says out of stock. But then I saw a mainstays brand one for only $20 and reviews are better than the other one or keurig. Trying it. 😊 and keeping all the packaging just in case. 😂
I've had the K Elite for so long I can't remember. I run vinegar through it 2 or 3 times a year and it works great. The only downside which is that I wish it made hotter coffee. I have the silver K cafe with the frother and so far I really like it and it makes hotter coffee, it was given to me so I didn't have to pay $200 for it although I did have to buy a replacement frother lid which I found in the Keurig site. I also have the dual brew but I broke the pot. My parents didn't like it so they gave it back to me. I think it was too complicated for them.
I knew the K duo plus had to be on here somewhere. The latch breaking was the last straw with mine. I even cleaned mine once a month with vinegar and it still got too much buildup in it as well. I have the K café smart now. Will not use anything else.
I have a classic thats been making at least 2 cups a day every day for over 5 years. I have had to unclog the needle a few times. Only ever descaled it once.....working good but was wanting to get a new one because my wife wants something more 'cute'
I had a k classic but wanted smaller, slimmer, and more than 1 cup water holder. Now I'd like one thats a little shorter too. Love your channel..looking for easy reset for the slim with water reservoir??
I have the K Compact and the problem I have is gambling on what the button will do. I usually use the middle button and it either give me half a cup or it overflows my cup. Same with the big cup button. I can make a cup of coffee and it work, next time it will overflow my cup.
I suppose I'm fu*&* up, because I just bought a Keurig Duo Plus because of the feature of preparing coffee for more people without losing my ability to keep making my kcup colombian avery morning. And now you say it is the worst! Suddenly, I feel depressed 😔
it may not be but I do see lots of comments on this coffee maker, I think it might be that just because they sell so many so I would not worry too much, just keep up on descaling it.
I love the detail reviews, thank you for doing this! Question, I have the Keurig 2.0 and recently it has been having an issue with shutting off when I hit the brew button. After several tries and I mean several tries it finally will brew but it takes forever. I’ve tried several things except for actually taking it apart. I’m wondering if it’s the control board which I would assume would mean to buy a new one. Have you or anyone seen this before and if so is there a fix? I have a video of it to show if that would help. Thank you!
I have the K Classic which is very old, I am guessing 15 years. The coffee could be hotter though. Lights flash sometimes but fix is easy. I would like to replace with one that brews hotter, but it seems new models are not as reliable from this.
I had a classic x13 years & it was still working when I replaced with K cafe duo special edition . They should do a classic with 5 prongs instead of 1 . Jeanne
We still have/use the original K-Classic for more than 7 years... Still going strong with no issues... NONE!!! Until it dies, we'll continue to use it...
I’ve had my keurig B40 for 10 yrs and it’s been brewing a minimum of 12 cups of coffee every day. I’ve taken it apart 2 or 3 times but lately it’s been wonky, now I don’t know if it’s the machine or the pods that have changed especially the Tim Horton pods. Hubby wants to buy another one but I would like to keep fixing it, because there’s no way that they make them as good anymore and they’ll probably be impossible to fix.
I was totally unsure of which way to go. I bought the $139 multi stream model and it lasted about 6 months. The handle to press down over the K-cup broke off in my hand and I was never able to get the new reusable multi stream cups to fit the machine properly. To fix the problem I was instructed that it could be fixed if called a phone number (available on their website, and for $5 they would walk me through "fixing" the issue (apparently a frequent issue for this model). No thanks, very poor quality control. I'm buying another brand. From your review, you did not identify specifically the models you you rated as best.
I bought the Barista Bar in early October, it worked almost a month...bought from Keurig website...they sent a replacement that I got last week, it didn't work right out of the box...supposed to be sending another replacement for the replacement for the original order! I am very skeptical...I asked if this model had issues and was told no. Have my doubts.
I enjoyed it for a year but now the k supreme + is garbage. I only use triple bold setting, and it cuts out. It doesn’t matter how much I descale it. I was sick of wasting k cups and time descaling. Now I’ve got the ninja pods and grounds. The coffee is just ok next to the k supreme + but at least it works, and won’t cost an arm and a leg to replace when it breaks. I’ll never buy a premium keurig again.
I'm a little confused....I thought you mentioned(I went back twice) the K-Classic AND the Compact as reliable......I just bought(as an extra)the compact($50-Amazon) when I found it would distribute just the hot water if you pressed one of the size options & left K-cup out. I have an Elite....lasts for years...and two others...(one with slim container left side-K Supreme..) aLso have one for iced coffee. I take notes with your videos ! Thank you for all you do. Have a lovely Thanksgiving.... you've got the special doggie treats ready...right? 🥰 Enjoy !
You can do yourself a huge favor by not using typical tap water, or Well water in any coffee maker for that matter ! It is imperative that you use only filtered water ! Be it Pur, Brita, whatever ? Something that removes Chlorine, and will catch disolved mineral deposits ! And your Coffee makers will last much, much longer ! Plus without all the chemicals, your favorite coffee will taste better than you've ever had it ! My biggest complaint about Keurig are their coffee makers cause electrical noise on many radio frequencies ! To the point where they must be physically unplugged from the outlet ! Just turning them off, won't stop it ! I would be remiss, if I didn't mention they seem to be schizophrenic, or develop Brewer Alzheimers ! As they begin to sometimes make half a cup of coffee, or spaz out, and over fill your cup ! Not what you want first thing in the morning ! 😠 And I wish they had a larger water reservoir ! Not nearly large enough ! IMHO !
I have a Kslim which just conked out. I'm not sure if I'll replace it. I only used it for a year. Why waste money again on a product that breaks down? It's so convenient though. Tfs
Mine old one was acting funny. The lights was blinking and I click the one i want but nothing came out. I kept opening it several times and pushing buttons it finally came out on the smaller cup
My Keurig K-Elite worked perfectly for 18 months until the Descale came on. After descaling, it starts, then shuts off immediately and completely. Fix?
My wife is on her 10th or 11th Keurig. They're all crap! Made to break.... My wife (bless her) is a glutton for punishment. Her insanity is buying the same crap product and expecting a different outcome. Me, I have a 16yr old Mr Coffee machine that works every single morning. Every morning is a good morning for me. Have a great day!!!!
I would like to know why the smart brewer leeks water from the cup area when brewing. There's several streams of water. Yes I've cleaned all the points
I searched but did you (@justadad) ever review the Bruvi coffee maker? Its proprietary pods have 15g of coffee in them. Most videos play background music and i cant hear how loud the machine is. Appreciate your insight!
I have had to return to already for faulty coffee brewing and this is my third one. But I'm still having leakage issues from the top of the pods splashing around the perimeter . Calling Karen corporate does no good because they're Malaysian call center either acts like they don't understand what I'm asking or don't want to deal with the problem and I cannot get corporate on the line to answer my questions
I’ve had 2 quite within 2 days of each other. I watched your video on how to reset the thermostat , and I was able to do that. Now I can’t get the descale to go off…😳
I have a K select. when I use the strong button almost no water comes out. It works on regular cups but on 8oz it makes about 6 1/2 oz Any idea what is wrong with the strong button
I have a smart keurig. I just did a descale and I noticed during the rinse the water was cold while saying dispensing hot water ugh. Think I might try espresso next idk.
May I ask if you know what the water pipe/tube is made of that wraps around the heating element? It looks like it may be metallic from what I could see here and in pictures. If so, do you know if it is steel or aluminum? Does a magnet stick to it?
I have the Keurig K-Cafe Single Serve K-Cup Coffee, Latte and Cappuccino Maker, Dark Charcoal. It’s leaking water whenever I try to make coffee. It’s a mess of water. Any ideas? I called customer service. No help.
I’m looking for a 16oz serving using a reusable k-cup so i can bring my own coffee. Can i get a 16oz cup from one k-cup? Does the keurig have a setting for 16oz or would i run it twice at 8oz? Which machine would you recommend for what I’m looking for. Thanks.
How do you get rid of the funky Keurig taste? I bought a K-Express Essentials and have ran several vinegar rinses and several clean water rinses. I've read about off gassing but does it ever go away?
