Hi there! :) So sorry it wasn't very clear but I put the link in the description box to all the toys. Here it is: kit.com/KidsOTHelp/toddler-gift-guide-2018
I don't even have a kid (just here coz I'm looking for gifts for other ppl's kids) but I do have a masters degree in motor control and learning and, I am super happy to see a mother so well versed and knowledgable about motor skills and sensory development giving cool tips. Kudos!
I just discovered your channel tonight! It's so great to have RU-vid role models for OT. I'm in my second year now and I'm falling in love with SPD.... I live far from my sister, but I notice on FT that my 3y/o nephew is proprioceptive seeking. This video came at a great time, because I'd like to get him a Christmas present that addresses that. I like the horse idea, but what is your opinion of a body sock? Do kids keep interest in them and would you see it as beneficial in the long run?
Hi Elizabeth! That is so great that you are loving your OT journey thus far! To be honest, I hadn't even heard of the body sock until you mentioned it! A lot of the kiddos I have been working with have physical disabilities as opposed to SPD so I haven't been in the loop as far as popular sensory products go. If you think going functional would be a better bet, you should check out thesensoryproject208 on instagram. She makes weighted vests, blankets and other accessories for our prop seekers! Could be a nice gift too! :)
Oh no!! If you can return the ones you don't like, I definitely think a lot of the items on this list are prime. If not, you'll be ahead of the game for next year ;)
When you are 2 a year is half your age. When you are 10 a year is a tenth of your age. When you are 30 a year is a thirtyth of your age. Therefore a year gets smaller versus your age.Thats why as we get older a year seems shorter.
Ummm yes!! A video on sensory information would be amazing! I am a first time momma and these are the toys I love giving my son. Such a great gift guide!
Great ideas!!! I'm struggling to find some good toys for my 19 month old boy/girl twins and you definitely got my creative juices flowing! Thank you for this video 😃👍🎄
Once again, another AMAZING video where I learned so, so much! Including why my 1 year old loves to HURL himself into pillows & squeals the higher he goes in the swing! I’m going to check out the videos you linked & would love a sensory video should you get around to making it. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! My son is a big sensory crave so I can't wait to get him a couple of these toys. I've shared it with my family as a wish list for him for Christmas. I'm very interested in learning more about the need for sensory input. Please do this video!!! Thanks again!
After watching this video I went and bought a dupe from my local DG that the discovery channel made of the magnetic tiles for 15$ .. Thank you! New subscriber 😘
These ideas were so great! They were unique and I like that they weren't the typical battery operated, push button toys but required thought and creativity. I ended up buying two things from here for my nephew and my son. So thanks so much for your content! I was wondering if you had a video coming out about stocking stuffer ideas? All the videos I seem to find are just unnecessary knick knacks and I actually want to get my son some practical (but also fun) things. I have a few ideas, but was looking for a few more.
Thank you for your support and feedback! Stocking stuffers would have been fun too! I'll have to remember that for next year. :) Thanks for the suggestion!
Omgeee first video I seen and I have subscribe, my toodler loves anything sensory, he is going to love the shell and spinning, I will check out your sensory video, oh and new subscriber 🙋♀️
In my opinion, kids could also get toys at other times if they have been very good and good kids all the time. If there is any kind of trip or Disneyland going, then I think the kids should get something out there because the things they bought from the trips are still very valuable souvenirs that are not sold in shops, and every thing that is bought, will be remembered for their wonderful trips. I highly recommend that you let the children choose what they like very much, their biggest dream and buy it. children may not like them at all.Purchase only the things that they really wanted and make them really happy.Sometimes they could rarely allow children to have the toys they deserve with their great nobility. If children are still very good, then, very rarely, they could just as well afford more expensive things. Very expensive things, then for the holidays. I advise against banning things that children really like, because then they start plans to just want more.I advise not to buy all the time, but sometimes very rarely still be able to afford something if they have been very good children for a long time.I certainly also recommend that you let the children choose from online stores, because there are just so many rare, popular, exciting, cakey, and sweet things that may not be available in stores. Hello there! Dear parents! Every child has the right to keep all the toys because they are valuable! If you have space, let them keep everything in their childhood! Keep the toys, if the kids like them very much!!! Could you please forward these messages to the other people and parents too, because it is very important for all of us that every single kid can get the best childhood ever and their dreams should also come true and they will be very happy then!!!It will teach all the parents, how to give the best childhood for their children!!!This is the best lesson for all the parents!!!Thank You!
Try giving that's both fun and educational at the same time, why not try *personalised childrens books* - it's basically your educational / moral story books but with custom labels/covers to make it special
I just came across your channel and I want to say you're amazing!!! My daughter turns 2 next month and she normally goes to daycare, but she has a cold and has been cooped in the house and I couldn't figure out what to do with her she's super active and curious. Thanks to you she'll be able to learn and have fun at the same time thank you so much!!!
Thanks for your support! O.T. stands for an Occupational Therapist. Our job is to basically help people be as independent as possible doing the daily activities that are meaningful to them. :)
Thank you so much for the video! I am new to all of the sensory information. I am curious about something. I have a 5 year old daughter who fidgets all of the time. Trying to get her to sit at the table and eat is such a challenge. Could this be because some of her sense are not being stimulated (if that is the correct way to put it)? Are there any recommendations for a 5 year old to help with excessive fidgeting?
Yes mama! You are spot on! You are making me want to put together a video on this because it is a bit hard to communicate through text. But consider switching her current chair with a more dynamic chair (one that allows her to move more and doesn't require her to "sit still"). You can literally type in "seats for kids that fidget" and a bunch will pop up. Teachers sing many praises about incorporating these types of seats in school. Also there are lots of fidget toys for hands, fingers etc. But as you alluded to, she probably has some sensory needs that need attention. Obviously I wouldn't be able to say for sure without doing an evaluation, but generally making sure that kiddos get good active time before asking them to sit for some period of time is effective. OTs are able to help distinguish what her sensory needs are and which types of activities will serve your daughters sensory needs, which will allow her to focus more when seated or completing a task. I hope that was somewhat clear/helpful. Shoot me an email if you need anything else. Hello@kidsothelp.com
You are AMAZING! I'm so glad I found your page! I ordered three of the products and added the others to her second birthday wishlist. I feel like you just changed my mama life, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!! I'm a first-time mom and I feel like everything I google endlessly or wonder about you talk about! Thank you! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge!
I bought the Rody horse for a Christmas gift after I saw your video. I got the Rody because even after shipping to the US Germanys Amazon had it for $33USD & the local Walmart was out of stock. The Rody doesn’t stink but does wobble and flop over easily. I wish I would have ordered the Rody with the rocking attachment. Oh well.
Thats not a bad price for the Rody! Good to know about the tipping though. I'm sure your kiddo doesn't mind with all the fun they are probably having bouncing! :)
Far too much plastic. You NEED none of this. From a professional and mom view, I am appalled at how much plastic is being forced on parents as "must haves".
+un1quemoon forced on? It’s simple - if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. The point of these videos are to educate parents about quality toys that foster development. Have a lovely day! ☀️
These seem like really good investments since they are high quality and last a long time since they actually help with different things at different ages
I love the idea of the horse. My son is a little bit of a sensory seeker so that would be great for him. He's 2.5 and the size of probably a 3-4 year old, do you think he will be too big for it?
Nope! I can even bounce on the horse. Not all that comfortably, but in terms of getting proprioceptive input and not destroying the horse - your 3-4 year old would definitely fit. ;)
+Team twin babies thank you so much! 🙏🏾💜 The link is in the first paragraph of the description box, but I’ve pasted it here for you too! 😊 kit.com/KidsOTHelp/toddler-gift-guide-2018
Thank you! It is the Anastasia Beverly Hills lipgloss. For whatever reason they don't have the names on the bottom of the product, so I am not sure what it is called. But it is a super bright red with fine gold glitter :)
Hi I just landed on your channel by suggestion of YT channel and loving it. Please do make an all sensory system video. My kid is always seeking propioception And staying away from vestibular. Great gift ideas
Hi Mary! There are a few other mamas who asked me this as well. I will look into and see if I can find some quality recommendations and put a video together! :)
I just discovered you from this video. I've been trying to decide on gifts for my 16 mo son who loves to climb. I'd like to give him an outlet that's safe and was considering a pikler triangle. Do you have any opinions about that vs other toys that might serve the same sensory purpose? I want to the best bang for my buck as you said. Thank you for these great videos!!
This is such a good video! My little boy has autism and is generally overstimulated and would love so many of these gifts! I’m a new subscriber and can’t wait to watch more! Thanks!
A sensory system video would be great. I love your recommendations and have added them to my home daycare wish list on Amazon. I think I'm going to order the river rocks right away, for an indoor activity during the cold winter months. Then, order the Bilibo later. Thanks so much. I'm sharing this on my FB page and RU-vid Babies and Toddlers Playlist. :)
I am so glad I found your channel! I have two toddler girls that could really benefit by me learning from you! Thank you so so much! We will definitely be picking up some of these items for Christmas! ☺️
Thank you for being honest about the bouncy horse, I always feel bad when I buy the knockoff toys, but honestly sometimes I really can’t see the difference.
Yes please on the video including the meanings of the sensory system for kids! My 2 and a half year old has started seeing an OT because there are many things he avoids, showers, noises, touching. I would like to be as informed as I could be in this area as a whole, being that we have 1 30 minute monthly session with him. It would help me tremendously. I just fell in love with you and your channel today. You're doing an amazing thing!
What great information! I just found a perfect gift for my grandson and will look at the other suggestions as he gets older. I really appreciate this list of educational and imaginative toys! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for sharing these awesome toys. I purchased several for my grandson. Love your clear and informative presentation. Your son using the toys is adorable too.
The bounce horse may work well for her. Some of the other toys may be too young for her. I am working on more recommendations for kiddos with sensory needs. Keep an eye out for the videos coming out beginning of next year! :)
i’m so soooo glad i found your channel i’m currently 8 months pregnant and refuse to have a toddler tablet baby! definitely saving vids on your channel for my little one ☺️☺️☺️
I'm so glad I found this video! My little one is in PT working on core strength and muscle tone development. I've been blanking on what to get him for Christmas, but the stones sound ideal! Thanks for the great info!
More info please! I have an incredibly active child who never seems to tire. I think we could both benefit from knowledge about sensory systems. Will check your current videos.
Thank you for this video. I just found you today and I would love to learn more about sensory and my little guy. First time momma and would love to learn more! Thanks!
I’m all done with my shopping for the holidays but I might just have to get that horse hopper for my almost 3 year old autistic son. He loves to bounce constantly.
This is amazing! I believe my son is a tactile seeker and I have struggled to find content explaining what I can do to help. Please make more videos relating to sensory processing disorder!
My daughter is exactly how you described kids who would benefit from the bounce horse, but even though she’s only 4 years old, she’s just under 4 feet tall and just over 50 pounds... she’s a tall and solid little girl... I’m wondering if the bounce horse is too small for her and what you might recommend for her.
Good question! This particular bounce horse might be too small for her. I will be putting together some new product recommendations shortly. I will keep this in mind and look for alternatives. :)
AWESOME VIDEO!! I am subscribing immediately. Your production is excellent and the information is spot on, I love the explanation of the psychology behind the toys. Thank you!
I know this is know that this is no where to the point of the video, but the reason every year feels shorter is because it's a smaller fraction of each year as you go on. At 1, a year is half of your life.. But at 70 it's only 1/70th of your life. It's all relative
I'm a mom with you receives OT as well As a T.A at a preschool for uniquely able children. This a great channel for parents who need a little help figuring it out. And I will be recommending it thank you
