Today, I spill the beans on a highly personal topic. I talk about the evolution of my toilet situation in the van over the past 3 years and how I found what works best for me. From compost toilets, to pee jars, to urinals, to a folding tripod toilet to a porta potty (aka cassette toilet). It's been a journey with lots of mishaps along the way!

Poo paper needs to be packed out or burned in a situation where you can. Burying the paper small animals dig it back up. I use the bucket with kitty litter and regular 13 gallon bags up to 4 times mabe 5 then tie it up put it in a second garage bag with my regular trash and dumpster. Pee bottle for all liquids.

Yes, poo paper definitely needs to be packed out. When I hiked the Inca Trail, it was absolutely disgusting that behind every bush were piles of toilet paper everywhere! I hear the Yukon River is getting pretty nasty as well! I like the kitty litter idea. That must do a good job at suppressing odor. Do you live in your van full time? That sounds more sustainable than single use poo bags!

I think the tripod toilet is a good idea. For us men, having that Y chromosome is a very nice feature.

We used to go anywhere out in the wilderness, very simple just squat dump n wipe with leafs or smooth rocks, buried it like cats do it. We had no electricity or running water the best times up to my teens.

For seven years I've used a Luggable Loo in my tiny house. I line it with plastic bags which I put in the main trash bag and it's hauled away.

For pee I use a Tide jug. I cut the spout out and for me it works. If someone is watching me walk to a public restroom with my Tide bottle, I am not going to do laundry.
