I Gotta tip!! Use circle hooks. They always catch the fish in the corner of the mouth. Strongest part of the mouth so you lose less fish. Easiest to get the hook out without damaging the fish for return to the sea & ALWAYS use a wet cloth when handling the fish!! Easier to grip & causes less damage again if returning it to the sea. Peace

Fantastic video!!! Really well done!!! Some additional tips might be effectively working structure: map topography (changing depth lines), piers, passes, jetties, cuts, weedlines, bridge pylons, points, rocky bottoms vs soft bottoms (mud, sand, etc.); also: using live bait vs. dead bait, best bait rigs, when to use octopus/circle hooks vs. std. "J" hooks, fishing egg floats and balloons floats. Keep up the great work!

If you really wanna just go out there as a beginner and have fun, go out to a pier with lights, get live shrimp and add a small split shot with light tackle spinning reels and cast into the light with slack line until you get a hit.

things you missed:- (i) Elasticated bait cotton to secure baits to the hook. Using this allows any bait to be used even if its soft like shell fish and be able to cast it without it falling off. It also means you can start making bait cocktails where you can mix any selection of fish, squid, worm and shell fiah baits (ii) Instead of those tubes, you can use tripods or sand spikes. Sand spikes are like thoses tubes, but they have a pointed end so you can really get them into the ground easily (iii) Use rigs where the baited hook clips to the rig before the cast and releases when it hits the water. The most basic one is known as a pulley rig and plenty of videos about it. (iv) For beach fishing use a 12ft plus rod capable of casting upto 6oz. This means that if you need extra distance because that gulley is further out, its far easier to get distance on a longer more powerfull rod. But you must be able to bend the rod in the cast so find one that is powerfull, but still forgiving enough so it bends when your casting

Great video. I've fished the surf a lot. This is a personal opinion but you don't really need a super heavy rod to fish on the beach. I'm mean if you are shark fishing yeah you need a big heavy duty rod. But I've caught some big fish on a medium set up. I'm not saying that surf rods are bad but I feel like there is a stigma that you have to have one. When I go we carry 6 rods that range between medium and heavy. We do fine catching bigger fish.
@BeachBomberFishing
@BeachBomberFishing 5 лет назад

Dude, Well done. Thanks for the great pointers. The rubber tubing advance was super! I also watched your video on the 12ft Ocean Master Surf Rod. I normally buy custom built rods because I thought that all of the off the shelf rods where a piece of junk. after your review I purchased the Ocean Master. Haven't used it yet but I will let you know after the Fall fishing season. I fish for Big Drum, Stripers, Big Blue Fish, and Cobia from the beach so the rod will be put through the paces.

I use aluminum pipe aluminum angle and make a small triangle up on the angle that resembles a small shovel for putting my feet on and pushing the spike in sand. I'm a welder and I've been making these rigs quite some time. I agree on the plastic PVC holders and the galvanized will do. This is just an alternative.

Me myself I have lost some big ones but have also pulled in some big ones with my 12 pound test I will not go down to 7 but im trying too.Oh by the way that four foot shark took over 30 minutes for its final pull in It was a epic fight .

PVC rode holders work great.... when used properly, 2" cut at 48", obviously the end that goes in the sand on an 45 so you can get it a minimum of 16" in good hard sand. The rubber tube is nice, I just tape my thumb, and on spinning reels I tape my finger.

Wow, squid out of all baits huh. I dont have much luck on squid. When i use squid, i usually end up with a bunch of hard heads lol.

yes, all of my other rods had live mullet and cut mullet. but i had a rod laying around and decided to whip it out with a piece of squid expecting not to catch anything! Thats why i love fishing, never know what will happen!

Ehm, instead of the surgical tubing you can also use a piece of old bicycle hose , that you put in to the reel seat , then its availible when you need it :)
@BeachBomberFishing

You could do that too

thank for the vid. about point no 1. what do you think about big surf wave? here in norcal waves are big for surfers to enjoy but they break so deep in ocean. people still catches fish but I don't see much trough near the beach within casting distance, i see holes only when during low tides. ps - new to surf fishing

Ive been checking out the surf rods by ocean master. What do u think pairing those rods with seigler reels. Need ur advice bro, advice b4 dropping almost $1000 bills on 2 combos lol
@BeachBomberFishing
@BeachBomberFishing 6 лет назад
+Albert Cervantes i think they would be great, especially the 12ft. They really revamped their new Ocean master's that's for sure.
@MattsSaltwaterFishing
@MattsSaltwaterFishing 6 лет назад
Albert Cervantes that sounds like a good combo. Only thing that would make it better would be Avet Reels instead of Seigler/Truth/Release/whatever they will be called in 2018. -Surf Fishing Elitist

Is backing your reel up with mono then braid for surfishing and pier fishing a good idea ?
@BeachBomberFishing

I do braid main line, then mono shock leader.

I was at 61st today and I tried the sabiki rig and gold and silver 3oz spoons , no bites , also bought mullet and had no bites as well, I could really use some good tips from a good fisherman that knows the Galveston waters well
@BeachBomberFishing
@BeachBomberFishing 6 лет назад
+Xtreme Fishing best way to get bait during this time if the season is casting out a sabiki rig or a double drop rig wit pieces of fishbites. All you need for this is a regular light setup. Cast into the guts and you'll get whiting, croaker, sand trout.

Hi Mr. bomber can you give some tips on how to surf fishing at high elevated areas. In a coal jetty or any manmade structures about 5 meters high above the sea level. Thank you mr.bomber
@The_Real_Infidel

100 percent accurate. The only difference is when i tie on a shock leader from braided line to mono inuse an FG knot.
