I have a Tactacam actually two and a moultrie…doing a comparison. I have many regular brownings and I’ve discovered they don’t see the brownings on picture setting but oh they do on video setting regardless of height setting. Had a eight that found my trailhawk no matter where I put it. I found on one day why….I was sitting near it reviewing pictures and it caught my movement and you can hear it cycle. I highly reccomend making sure it’s quiet and have your camera take a pic of you and listen carefully. I have hearing loss and heard it I can only imagine what a deer hears!!! Thank goodness my Tactacam is quiet and high I have a big boy who comes from a brushy section and walks through to open woods every morning between 8:30 and 9:45. I hope he continues this pattern season is very very close.
I have old infrared cameras and a new tactacam.. they see those red lights clearly, and they walk the other way.. love the low glow on the tactacam!! Great video Jeff! Have a great holiday weekend!
Been in a situation where no trees on the plot edge would work so moved a few rocks from the stonewall added the camera repositioned the rocks. Camera blended perfectly
Spread my first bag of Big Boost Brassica into 3' tall buckwheat yesterday. Then sprayed and compacted it. Wish someone would have told this newby to untuck my shirt! Had seed in my pant pockets, boots, shop, and house! 😂 Can't wait see this stuff grow. Appreciated you educating me Jeff. Thanks
Hard to beat an exodus cam for the price.. quality pics, easy on batteries & doesn’t miss pics. I might try a tactacam next year & compare. Good Vid on the camera set up tho
I have a spypoint camare on a upside down t-bar post. I put the post up side down so I could strap it to to broad end. I tuck it up under the branches of a mesquite bush/tree. I've had it there 3 years and the deer don't notice.
Also been using hme trail cam mounts. So much easier than the straps to get the right angle and height. Wish more companies would sell the camera with that type of mount rather than strap
I’ve actually been using a browning on video to “push” target buck up towards a spot I want to get a shot and I have a another browning on picture setting and match up the videos and picture and so far it’s working like a charm I catch him both ways but the red glowing light really push him and I decided to try and experiment hell if I get him it will be worth the batteries used just to push/herd him. He is smart he stays at the very out skirts of the camera when he goes by…took me two years to wake up and pay attention to why was playing out in front of my sleepy backside.
I just started using trail cameras. I hunt public land mountains in PA. I try to get them 6 feet or higher but if I can find a way I'll definitely try to hide some lower just to see what happens.
I have 8 of them, Two X2-Pro and the rest XB. I had some problems with two XBs. Software problem with XB and water leak on one XB. Lost two cameras to this. One was replaced under warranty. The second one I just threw away and bought a new X2-Pro. I have had them for about 2 years now.
I hope you have been able to update them to fill HD video and pics...pretty dang amazing! I know the XBs have been revamped too ..they just released them in the past month. Better battery life, full HD vids and pics, better sensor, etc
Mine are hung about 9-10ft up, but that’s because I hunt Michigan public land and getting expensive cell cams stolen wouldn’t be wallet friendly lol however, I still get great photos and not many false triggers
What does a red bulb look like to a deer? I figured they could only see green yellow and blues. Maybe it looks like a bright object and not just red. Good video as I have realized they do see the camera when the red illuminator goes off
I'm thinking they don't see the color...just the bright light. When the camera flash is blacked out, we can't see it either. But when Ted and glowing we see the light, just like deer. If we can see light...they can too no matter the color 👍
Ive always put mine about knee level….and occasionally where i can 6 ft up pointing somewhat down. My biggest issue isnt them spooking from the cams….its licking them. I cant count the amount of silly pics I have a doe, bucks, fawns, bears , raccoons giving me the tongue or side tilt stare….sometimes every night….although the bear has eaten several cams…well chewed up , not swallowed.
So why not just use Spy high camera mounts? Solves all of these problems. No spooked deer, no scent problems, almost no stolen cams on public land. And installation of your camera is fast and easy. Perfect solution.
If the soil is moist, will rye germ with heavy dew ? I wanna get rye spread and no rain in forcast so I'm thinking get it in before the ground dries up 🦌🏹
Using trail cams for the first time over my first mock scrape and licking stick. First couple of days, I had all kinds of pics including 3 different bucks all hitting the scrape and stick. Since then it has REALLY trickled off to only a couple small doe a day. Is that normal? I put everything up 5 days ago.
What if your camera has been busted? Do you move it and try again or do you wait and see if other deer notice? All of my cameras are about 6' height and Reveals with no glow. Ironically, the two cameras that I have had spotted was by does during the daylight.
Good morning. I have seen a good buck at the end of August that had no velvet. It was close to the road so pretty sure what I saw. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks Nathan
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 didn't mean to say aloe meant to say down low. The fog usually gets on the lenses and then makes it blurry. I've tried a couple different things to keep it from doing that
