Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! - so my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live, until the next video goes live a week later. I'll see how that works out 😊
Thank you for supporting the channel so I can continue to provide you with regular reviews, thoughts and ideas and (hopefully) inspiration! Please consider subscribing to keep up to date with new video releases.

Fantastic review. I upgraded to this bag from a Synik 30 and always had a bit of buyer's remorse due to losing the great (external) organization that the Synik has. This video confirms that the Max is indeed the best engineered travel backpack, so thank you for providing that reassurance. It really is a fantastic bag, and I'm one of those owners who didn't know about the 2nd hidden pocket within the back support slot. Thank you for pointing that out. Able Carry really is a clever design company. Thanks again.

Greetings! I have Tom Bihn Synik 30 which I really love but I was still wanted a perfect backpack for my everyday carry essential plus I could use as one bag travel. I have been researching and came across your video for Max Backpack, and you confirmed that this is a backpack for me. Especially with that separate work compartment for the tech. Like you mentioned we can organize it in various ways as needed. Thank you for the review. Much respect from Texas, USA.

Thank you for an excellent review. Just bought a max for myself. I love it. One mod I couldn’t resist doing was ordering a waist belt from Modern Dayfarer. I saw that the webbings at the bottom back corners aught to fit the buckles on those belts. Received them the other day and they fit perfectly. They makes wearing the pack even more comfortable especially with heavier loads of course.
@Philhellene1

@julesbarcelonarules
@julesbarcelonarules Год назад
I was wondering if that was possible to get a third party belt when I noticed the webbing on the bottom. Do you find the lack of load lifters on this pack unnecessary even when you've got it packed out and heavy? I imagine the added belt makes a huge difference regardless. But I like the combo of load lifters and a proper belt.

No grief from me; only praise and appreciation for your review. 🙏🏻 My observations: (1) I don’t favor a vertical front zipper as I find things can fall out and would rather have a horizontal zipper. (2) Chest strap doesn’t appear to be adjustable, which I’d prefer for added comfort. (3) I’d rather have a waist strap than not. Reason being: the only time the bag is full is at the airport, train or bus station - not when going around town, on a hike or bicycle. At these times, the bag shouldn’t be full so a waist strap provides more stability IMO. I’ve seen people fall off their bikes because they didn’t load their backpacks properly and believe a waist strap is a benefit. (4) Don’t believe you mentioned the price of the water bottle-although easy to find via links. (5) As always, I find your reviews to be very helpful and comprehensive. I always look forward to your opinions. Cheers. 🙏🏻

I have to say that you once again nailed it. I also have to ask whether you have been taking a sneaky peek at my journal. I say this because you have come up with solutions to a bunch of things I have on a list to minimise or make better use of what I carry. Lately I have been looking for the ideal carry-on to avoid checked luggage on some trips we will be making UK and Stateside. I have now moved Able Carry to the top of my list. I would go for the black over the camo personally. I like to draw as little attention as possible and think camo would draw the eye and suggest interesting content more than the black; but, as you said, each to their own. I realise I am sacrificing some durability but I reckon it is a fair trade off, plus I save a little weight. Thanks for doing the hard work for me.

Jon, I am a sucker for bags in multicam black and thus one really looks great. I use the Mission Workshop Radian for my week or longer travels with various Archiv accessories (all in MCB) and I love it., particularly on trips when I'll be fairly mobile. Post Brexit means an even higher potential to get stuck with import fee’s. Great in depth review as always, although this did massive dissuade me from getting this bag. No idea how the price is justified (not by comparing with even more rip-off products)! I've got backpacks of similar spec that retail at half the price. Thanks for another great review. I can see why you would like this pack. For me however, once one gets into a 30 litre pack size, the all up possible weight is more than enough to justify a proper padded waist belt, or at least the option to fit one. Sure, a pack of sandwiches and a towel isn't going to need it, but stick in a few litres of water and some proper EDC survival kit and that is going to start to become very unpleasant over distance without it. 👍

This is probably overkill for a lot of people but you can get those super thin cheap kitchen style trash bags at Walmart or other really cheap places or probably at any supermarket. You just get the really cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap cheapest ones you can get and they will be super thin. At Walmart I think you can get like 100 bags for a dollar but they’re ridiculously thin so if you put anything besides paper in them they’ll break. But the point is if you put one of them or a few of them in your bag they take up almost no space and when you go into the bathroom and you wanna hang up your bag you still can’t trust that the door is clean. It’s cleaner than the floor but who knows what’s been on there? Somebody may have rubbed a little bit of poop on the door as they’re pushing it to get out and you can’t see it. So what you do is you take out one of those really cheap trash bags you drape it over your bag and then you just pop a little hole so you can put the hanging loop through and this way the only thing that’s going to touch some unknown surface is just the hanging loop and at least that’s not the part you’re going to put against your body or carry the bag with. It may be a little OCD but it’s also not that big of a deal since you’re not gonna be hanging your bag on doors all the time
@FiveRustyNails
@FiveRustyNails 2 года назад
I like this idea, cheapo trash bags would also make an ad-hoc glove for opening, closing, locking and unlocking public toilet doors too. I'd go with the wheat-based option which are compostable and break down to nothing in water eventually. I wonder if they are "flushable". Good tip.

Why wouldn’t they offer both features of the bottle cap at the same time in one product. Didn’t see a quick access pocket on the bag except for the one on the side.

Not enough room for the straw and the electronics and emitter I suspect - nice idea though. That is the only one.

if the Back of the main compartment would be lined with velcro fleece, this bag would be top notch :)

Ouch....almost 4 pounds. That hurts. I wish one of the many ultralite hiking companies (Zpacks, Gossamer Gear, Mountain Laurel Design, KS Packs, Hyperlite Mountain Gear, etc.) would make a travel pack.

Just saw the price for $260 there's no way I'd pay that much for a bag unless it was a military backpack from TAD Gear, that's used in actual missions, I have a 22 litre Osprey Talon backpack that's around £90 and it's very ergonomic and lightweight for backpacking

$260 affordable! Not for many of us and many affordable options out there. Please do some reviews of less elitist gear that regular people can afford. I am a great fan of the value for money at Decathlon for example. Great variety and well designed gear that lasts well.

Thanks David for the feedback. I generally favour more focussed brand but do acknowledge Decathlon are VFM across a huge range of outdoor and sports gear. It might be interesting to do a comparison one day. As mentioned in the comment I often feature what I would buy and why which I appreciate might not work for everyone.

Bought this on your recommendation. Disappointed. Lots of form, little function. Pocket accessibility is awkward and many of the pockets lack width. Paper carrying at best. Also, Able carry makes returns very difficult. It is a tedious process with multiple, time consuming requirements which must be precisely executed within two week from the time their product arrives at your doorstep. One digit was mistakenly inaccurate in the tracking number of my return, which I was required to enter and submit. They explained this was the reason they didn’t notify me when my return arrived at their facility. However, this is unacceptable, as the return had my return address clearly legible. Able carry intentionally complicates their return process to thwart returns. Had I not followed up on my return, I am quite certain they would have merely resold my backpack, and not credited me.

There's already a glut of reviewers for US only products. Please would you label your posts to indicate if your reviewing US only or UK available products, at least then your viewers won't be disappointed when they find they can't actually buy what they're looking at. Thanks
