Thanks for the thorough factory tour. It wasn't mentioned in the video but this factory had to be completely rebuilt after burning to the ground in 2014 I believe. Quite the comeback story. We took delivery of our 2019 10.2 EX CD SE earlier this year and have been thoroughly impressed with both the product and the company. Frankly, our unit wasn't any more expensive than our previous Brand "L" but the quality and attention to detail of the Northern-Lite is certainly superior.

I have a 2015 10-2 EXCD SE that I travel around with my 2009 Ford F350. We do a lot of boondocking with this thing with lots of off road through deserts, over mining roads in Colorado and in National Forest and it has held up great. It is very comfortable to live in and the quality is outstanding. Also if you have an issue you can call the factory and they actually get back to you with answers. I have done some up grades like adding USB ports, 6 volt batteries, etc but that is all. It is really a true four season camper with ducts running into the basement area. We camped in 18 degree F weather with no issues. I would highly recommend this camper.

We absolutely love this truck camper for all the reasons that you listed and more. How is the gas mileage with the Ford F-350?
@flyingdutchman7585
@flyingdutchman7585 5 лет назад
@@DoriMena My fuel mileage ranges from 13-16 (with camper loaded) depending on the terrain, but I actually pulled the 6.4 Ford diesel out and put in a 6.7 Cummins which has proven to be a great change. It will run with the camper loaded on it at 75 mph under 2000 rpm's on the highways. The only other changes I did was install stableloads on the rear leaf springs to level out the ride. These work great and I highly recommend them for anyone thinking of getting a truck camper no matter what truck they own.

I'll help you shorten your search. The are only three to consider. Bigfoot, Northern Lite and Northwood Mfg. My interest and research began 15 yrs ago. I ended up with a new 2014 Northwood. Now, 6 yrs. later, I'm still mostly happy with it, but the headache of the rubber roof and constantly worrying will it eventually leak is not something I'm interested in. Northern Lite will be my next camper. Seals still need to be maintained on top, but the stress of getting a pinhole leak in the EPDM is eliminated.

Hi, (god bless your wife). I’m on my own, looking into these NL right now, they aren’t getting cheaper, prices keep going up, won’t be coming down, something to consider whilst you heal. Takes a bit of time if you order one, and they sell as fast as they land at the dealers. These NL, are a lot less issues than a tpo roof! Easier on us older folks. Good resale value in compared to a tpo roof rv too. Take care 🍻.

With U-shape dinette, generator, dry bath, I just paid 70 grand plus tax for a 2023 , 10.2. I had the same rig bought in MASA AZ for 68, that's set up and everything. however that's a LONG drive from North Ga. They are expensive, and me being cripple, well I might have acted a tad fast. So I might be selling mine very soon. We are NOT new to truck campers but my health is worse than I thought. My rig is only two weeks old as of April 4, 2022, and they are really nice. Me being a big man, I love the 60x80 TRUE queen bed, sleeps great. Anyway, I will be going through my camper soon and posting youtube video's, the pro's and cons. I have a 10.2 Limited. Truck is a 2022 Dodge quad cab, limited. MSRP is 7995 US.

@@DoriMena As for now I believe the Northern lite to be one of the best truck campers made. I have NOT compared this camper to others though. I've own a lance camper and had no complaints except in cold weather. We owned a 2001 915 Lance, no slides, wet bath and took this camper everywhere. I mean mountains to Key West 3 times, we had a generator and it was so simple and easy to use. Sometimes simplicity is better. The battery compartment is REALLY bad in the Norther Lite but when I start my video's I will give an honest account of the Northern Lite truck camper. I will tell you, a 60x80 bed is wonderful in ANY truck camper. I suspect, all truck campers will go more for solar, boon docking stuff. Already they are leaning that way. Hope this helps.

Great overview of how the Northern Lite truck campers are made. I am familiar with this 4 season camper design as I have used a 11.5 Big Foot Truck Camper since 1998. Now I am looking to upgrade to a Northern Lite. It would be nice to see what outlets are available for running a C-PAP machine in the main bed area at night. I am looking for both 120v and 12v type of out lets near where my head will be positioned. Great video. Very detailed. Molded fiberglass is great but one drawback, or at least one thing to keep in mind. Gel coat will fade from the weather. I've been around boats most of my life and gel coat will fade. Some companies paint ( auto paint ) the fiberglass but I think it's a lot more expensive to do it that way.

On my 2013 10-2 the only complaint is not being able to remove the generator without major rework of the compartment door and trim. my husband and I just bought a brand new 10.2 a couple of months ago, i do love almost everything about it except for the fact that if you live in a wet climate like vancouver island bc we find that the hypervent under the bed is not lifted enough to let enough airflow pass through. So therefore we are having condensation issues like mad, even after we have done everything the company has suggested. We are looking into a new system for under the bed to lift it alittle more and hopefully that fixes our problem. We do full time rv.

We are hoping to receive the froli system this week, and we have had to elevate our bed every 2 days just to make sure all that moisture doesn't come back but I think we are winning the battle slowly but surely. We are hoping to go to Mexico next winter cause we don't start our 3 year trek till March 2019!.It would be nice to go over to Mexico with people who have been there, cause we have never left Canada so to bad we weren't going this year. Have Fun!
@beinbourg
@beinbourg 5 лет назад
hey trina, thanks. i am considering one. so where does the condensation build up? is it under the mattress and on the walls? its insulated and fiberglass, that won't cause mold, just dampens everything? is it more of a pain in the butt then anything? are you getting enough ventilation and cross breeze? i guess though on vancouver island if the humidity in the air is high enough ventilation doesn't matter
@rangerdanger88
@rangerdanger88 5 лет назад
attwood Blower H20 Resist (White, 3-Inch) add a flexible duct with holes directed under the mattress. The airflow will keep the underside of your mattress dry. Another owner put a sheet of peg board on some 1x and then the hypervent on top of the peg board... then the mattress. This is a passive way of getting more airflow under mattress.

Don't get me wrong I like the concept. However; owners tell me you must caulk the 2 half's. Why is that? I thought they are built like a boat to last forever. One would think if there that well made you would not have to caulk the main seam to keep the water out. Water leaks destroy campers. There hard to find, can create mold issues and basically rot the camper away from the inside out. The whole reason we would buy this is so that won't happen. I don't get it. They say they eliminated any risk of leakage so why are people having leaks and have to cualk or reseal? Anyone have an answer? Thanks.

Horrible website,every link just takes you in circles. Can’t find a page that shows details of all available models. If someone has a proper link please post it.

They rely on the dealers to showcase the different models. Here are the Canadian dealers: northern-lite.com/locations-canada.php

Thanks ,I’ve been to my local dealers site as well but they don’t do that great a job at showing everything. Walk thru vids are not to bad I just wish NL would provide a site similar to Northwood for example. I live a couple hours away from the closest dealer and the factory so I guess I’ll need to go to Winfield.

Also thanks for the video It did answer some questions about construction. It’s a shame even that main seam can develop a leak as some are reporting.

Really ?! $49,930.00 ! You can buy 2020; 33ft.+ 5th Wheels with multiple slide outs for that price ! (Are you silver and gold plating your campers?!)

Absolutely you can. Keep in mind campers do cost more per square foot. They still have the same amenities as trailers and 5th wheels, but in a smaller space. Now for some advantages. You don't license a camper. You can tow your boat behind. If as in our case a ferry is required you pay per foot. A trailer costs a lot more on a ferry. Also we noticed on our trip across Canada some toll bridges charged per axle. Yup, Northern Lite campers are pricey. They are not for everybody. They are very comfortable, good looking, and weather tight. With a minimum of care will last a lifetime. They are for those who want the best.

The main advantage of the truck camper is mobility. It can go many places where the 5th wheel can not including far into back country and rough jeep roads. There are other advantages as well but definitely not cost, true.

We think they're worth it based on the way they're constructed, but we've never owned one. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

I don’t know if you have been spending any time looking a truck campers. I have and Bigfoot is Cadillac of truck campers, but Northern Lite is the Roles Royce. The 10.2 has better storage inside and out. Better design and better looks.

Yes thanks for the Tour Very interesting!!!I drove 450 miles to purchase a 1988 bigfoot 9.5 ,yes it's old but it's in Great shape,I gave 3500 for it,and had done my studies on truck campers Also,and didnt have a large amount to spend,this camper will fit my needs for At least 20 more years.also I didnt know Northern was building a carbon copy of bigfoots,yes there are differences ,like the top ,they strengthened the roof by adding a raised shape to there mold,but Total Hats Off to Thaem ,And you also,Great Travels!!

They are copy cats of a Bigfoot camper that blows Northern lite a way! The short cut every thing and are cheap built to compete with the one and only Bigfoot the big boy not a copy cat toy !!!
