Actually went for the AZ80, can’t wait for it to be delivered. The Japanese youtubers ranked them as top 5 earbuds and one of the most convenient earbuds to go for (same as Kevin’s reason). And the subtle yet quality looks of it 👌
@@TheNovember Heyy i was thinking of getting the Az80s and stumbled upon your comment after 1 year! Can i ask you how theg hold up until now? And a second thing is the volume anough when they are at max volume or they aren't as loud?
Man I have tried so many ear buds and let me tell you. The XM5's are great. I bought them because I had to replace my second pair of MTW3 from Sennheiser. The MTW3 is top tier, but one side will give out eventually or the case will stop charging (Make sure you clean the ear bubs when putting them in the case). The sound is really good and ANC was also really good. Transparency mode was outstanding until they did a previous update and now it is not that good. Also it was a great fit while working out. Overall great, but broke down on me twice. Battery was ok. Using them on a flight they almost died, but that was almost at around 3 hours and 30 mins. The XM5's are also top tier. The sound is good, but I feel it falls just a little behind the MTW3. The ANC is top tier though, you won't be disappointed. The transparency mode is also "Meh" not better than MTW3. You also hear a robotic/metallic noise when taking calls, maybe an update will address tho issues. I also workout with these and the reduction in side makes these comfortable to workout in. Battery so far so good. The Bang and Olfsen's are by far my favorite. I went along and dished out the cash (found a great deal on Ebay for the gold tone color) to see what they hype was about. The hype is real. The sound quality is GOD tier. I've heard instruments playing the background that I never heard before from my favorite songs. Although the ANC and transparency is not that good. They fall behind both the XM5 and MTW3 by a lot in my opinion, BUT the sound quality is so good that it cancels out a lot of stuff and sounds amazing. Battery is not bad, they are better than both XM5 and MTW3 and this is with ANC and all the features active. Just my little overview of these three buds in my opinion. MTW3 8 out 10 XM5 9 out of 10 B and O 9.5 ouf of 10 ( If it had Sony ANC and MTW3 Transparency mode, this would be the best on the market)
I got the XM5's as a gift and returned them for the MTW3's. I have a pair of AKG N400 and the sound is so amazing, but it's so horrible at everything else that I was unimpressed by the XM5 sound. Hopefully the MTW3 doesn't crap out on me too soon
Had 2 pairs of MTW3 that only lasted 3 months each like you. They say it's splash resistant but I suspect work out sweat broke em. Now I'm using the EX. So no worries about breaking from sweat. I'd say momentum has a more comfortable fit in my ears. Also the ANC is non existent. The sound is even better than sennheiser
Had the MTW3 for a year and half before the right side volume became very low for some reason. Also suspect it’s to do with the charging bit getting wet from my workouts. Swapped to Xm5 and definitely didn’t sound as good and the fit felt average. Definitely preferred the MTW3 if it didn’t break. But hopefully this Xm5 will last longer
Congratulations on this super extensive, super premium review. You guys put some of the best effort in the segment. You definitely deserve more audience.
The Technics AZ80 is a no brainer clear winner as far as I am concerned. As someone who also owns an AirPods Pro 2, Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Sony WF-1000XM5, I can say that the Technics is second to none when it comes to audio quality, with the wider sound stage, clearer instrument separation, and capable of delivering a super nice punchy bass while maintaining lots of clarity throughout the spectrum. Even for rock and metal it performs excellent, so I would respectfully disagree with DHRME on that. You can customize the equalizer and have it perform *very* differently. The case is also the best constructed I have seen in any device, well thought out, super premium feeling and with the most beautiful design, with curved sides but flat top and bottom, sitting nicely on a desk while also pocketing perfectly on a jeans. I have no crackling noises in the case, as mentioned here, and it has 2 LEDs (as only Galaxy provides) to indicate case and earbuds battery level separately. The three device multipoint connection is very useful, as is its ability to pull previous connections - super handy if you have a dozen devices like I do. Comfort is top notch. Microphone quality is also super detailed, specially with its unique ‘Just my Voice’ technology, which really works. Touch controls are intuitive and configurable. The voice prompts are also unique and handy, allowing you to customize its verbal announcements for each device so it will say if you connected to a smartphone, computer, player or other devices (useful when you have many devices being connected to automatically as you approach them), and if you don’t like the voices, they can be simply turned off, to just beep like most devices. ANC is in my tests undistinguishable from the AirPods Pro 2 or the Sony XM5. Transparency also in line with the AirPods Pro 2. Overall, I think the Technics is currently the Rolls Royce of this generation. The only thing it misses are the AirPods case features: sound beeping, general location and precise location.
How do they fit in ear ? I have XM4 but just can't use them due to their size. Buds2 pro is a no because I have a galaxy but hate this ecosystem trash. Sennheiser are not the best quality also. Since the technics support LDAC I may consider buying them
Excellent review. Exactly what I was looking for.... On a light hearted note, I keep expecting to hear pop pop popsicle, ice ice icicle, test test testicle. 😂
This was a well done comprehensive list. To me the best ones on this list are: AZ80, Enco X2, Senny M3, Beoplay EX (refurb), and begrudgingly Airpod Pro 2. The Sony XM5 are good and a little incrementally better than XM4 but not worth $300. The volume control is just stupid and could be a dealbreaker for some. Volume controls should be 1-click or 1-click and hold. Good review, guys👍
Dang! Great and in-depth comparison. This is a quality video! I love the sound of the Senn's MTW 3 but tired of getting a replacement for these wonderful buds that die after 6 months. I can get the Beoplay EX's for $285 open box so for a Rock/Metal Fan are these the best for my genre? I want the AZ-80s but both of you mentioned they kind of suck for Rock/Metal! Sigh.
Totally agree on Oppo Enco X2. Superb sound. Dynaudio really know their stuff. Not for massive bass lovers though. But there are Devialet Gemini not mentioned here. These are on older side but huge, rich sound, perfect bass. Just a bit restricted top end but never muddy. ANC the only one I tried close to Bose QC2. Both Enco and Gemini have superior vocals to Sony XM4 and any premium Soundcore.
1. What about the difference between OnePlus Buds Pro 2 and Enco X2? Some ppl say that they are equalent 2. Does Gemini II worth it's price? Cause it's monodynamic...
Just returned my XM5 and got a $99 refurbed XM4 instead. I couldn't get the XM5 to stay in my ears no matter what. I use the Technics AZ60M2 in my office, and I have to say, aside from the weaker ANC, these are the best I've tried. Side note, do people still think you're an a-hole for talking to them with earbuds in? Seems like the entire reason for getting upset about something like that doesn't have any more merit than being upset for a woman talking to you while wearing earrings. Lot of the times people can hear you better with them in than with them out, depending on the transparency. It's never even occurred to me to take them out while talking to someone, and no one has ever batted an eye. This could also be my autism talking.
Yeah I just don't agree with your thoughts on the Technics AZ80'S...I'm extremely satisfied with the Technics AZ80's and I got them new for $235 a month ago.... Excellent sound quality the ANC is great as well as the Ambient sound. These are the best sounding TW earbuds I've ever tried BTW I'm taking my AirPod 2 pro usb-c back to Best buy...I've tried the Sennheiser M3, Devialet Gemini, Tozo GX1, Samsung Galaxy 2pro gave me an allergic reaction, nickel...lol, 1000xm5, and Bose qc2. I just love the AZ80'S, best sound I've ever heard in a TWS bud...I listen to Slayer, Sepultura, Lamb of God and I get no loss compression. The guitar distortion is great, clear and crisp, drums sound excellent, bass is really good vocals are always 🔥🤘....🤷 I just don't agree... we'll see how the AZ80'S compare to the Huawei free buds 3 pro here as soon as they come in...
Awesome, awesome video. I’m a proud owner of the Between 3ANC and I think that your analysis is on point although I wanna say that I really love the looks of them because here in Italy having earbuds that are super noticeable and stick out of your ears means that you will not be bothered by beggars while travelling 😂
@@AlejandroB76az80 easily but thd enco x2 are still fantastic especially at their current price. For me the az80 are almost perfect. If they could jusy improve transparency a bit more then they are perfect
57:40 ... This is why I don't think we should celebrate ecosystems. Ultimately they mean less compatibility. It's antithesis to what consumers should want especially Android users.
Which of these models do feature a fully functioning Bluetooth LE Audio connection? As a daily user of wireless earbuds for work, battery life is everything for me. I don't need fancy lossless Bluetooth classic codecs, I need working LC3.
Hi Guys. I'm using both of my xm5 and xm4 every day. At this moment, I'm using the small ear tips from the xm4s on my xm5s. Great review by the way. I love my Sony xm5, but I would never retire my xm4s either. I use my xm4s indoor, and I use the xm5s going out. I'm still try to figuring out the setups on the xm5s, and I hope, Sony will change things with the next firmware update. My priority is sound quality, so when it comes to that, it is subjective. I love the xm5, and I also old enough to understand the fact, there is no such a thing exists, like perfect. Love you All.❤🙂🤙👍
Guys- I've been told that the Buds 2 Pro work best with a Samsung device, which I have (Note 20 Ultra) however I've noticed that the volume is markedly louder on my Xioami 11t phone. This phenomenon also occured with my LP3's and Jabra Elite 7 active... Have you guys noticed a discrepancy in volume across varying devices?
I tried the XM5s and I didn't like the ANC at all. The transparency is also hit and miss. Went for the AZ80 and yes the ANC isn't that great too but the transparency makes up for it. Sound wise, I like the Technics more.
For the XM5s eartips, if they're the same material as the XM4s, that foam will break in as you use them. It's memory foam. If you've ever had a memory foam pillow, you know it starts rock hard and then turns into a squishmellow after a couple of months.
Best top 5 earbuds among these ? Oneplus buds pro 2 Oppo enco x2 Sennheiser momentum TW 3 Soundcore Liberty 4 Nothing ear 2 Sony linkbuds S Samsung buds pro 2 Bose QC 2 Google pixel buds / pro Apple Air pods pro 2 Earfun air pro 3
Wow... "...if your are a Fakman then you get the basic hang up controls..." hmm, I would like order mine today and become a first-class Fakman so I can get my basic hang ups controls. 😉😅😅😁😁
Easily the most in-depth comparison with the xm5 I’ve seen so far. The Between 3ANC are my personal favorite earbuds in my collection followed by the Senheiser MTW3. I have to say, there’s plenty of other earbuds I haven’t gotten my hands on still, but I’m more than satisfied with the Status earbuds right now
I still can’t find a better sounding ear buds than Beoplay ex. They also beat much of the over ear headphones in the market! They just sound so good. But ANC is wack and the connection can be a fit fiddly sometimes but if they literally work on those and the mic for the next iteration it would be amazing
I am having anxiety problems waiting for my new Oppo Enco X2's. Trusted so much on the guy's election that finally convinced get one of those from China to California.
Ice-ice-icicles Pop-pop-popsicles Test-test-testicles 😂😂😂 About the video: I was looking for casual videos but then i got shocked because this is exactly what I was dreaming about. Such a highly informative video! Very well done, congratulations!
Now thats a pretty complete market overview, thank you. I have btw the same connection problem to the app with the linkbuds s and the headphones app on my iphone 13 mini you described with the sennheisers - pretty annoying to be forced to put them back in the case and in the ears again when I just want to turn off speak to chat when I am about to brush my teeth...
Well done my guys! Love to see the JBL Tour Pro 2 and Technics AZ80 score so well as they are fantastic buds imo. One thing I gotta give JBL and Samsung extra props for is their Ambient Mode amplifier. That's something that's almost never mentioned in reviews but it gives you so much peace of mind when you want to be extra aware of your surroundings. Samsung took it even further by turning the Buds Pro 2 into a damn near hearing aid! Definitely helpful for anyone who doesn't have great hearing. I would give those two buds S tier for transparency
If sound is your primary concern get the galaxy buds pro 2. They are a league above everything here. I've owned many of these other products alongside far more expensive audio equipment and I can assure you that they probably punch within the $700-$1000 range of IEM's but are true wireless buds. It's remarkable and easily the best option based on sound alone.
However, your sound quality acessment of bose qc2 tear A, while highly subjective, is not even close to xm5. Bose has a very strong booming base and not much else along with aac and sbc codecses. Compare that to xm5 with LDAC, DECC upscaling feature and evenly pronounces highs, mids and lows with 5 band EQ! Bose is great for anc, but calls and sound is just mehhh... Bose could be a contender at 100 bucks... SONY and AZ 80 are a clear choice for me. By the way SONY volume just like everything else could be controlled without even touching earbuds with a google assistant activated.
If the Oppo Enco X2s are so good, how come most techtubers ignore them? Only because they're not available in their country? Anyways, I ordered them lol. Tbh, I just wanted Airpods initially, but I am not in the Apple eco system. I thought the new Sonys might be a good alternative, but they suffer from some of the same flaws as the previous generation.
Just like you found that the Airpod Pro 2 are pretty bad at phone calls when connected to an Android smartphone, just like I found that 99% of earbuds from other brands have the same problem when connected to Apple products, their phone call, sound and other qualities are affected. And many earbuds find themselves poorly rated because, 75-80% of testers, especially Westerners use iPhones as their main smartphone and therefore for their tests.
I'm in need of a new pair of buds. I have the XM5s, but they won't connect to my new phone. I think the case is faulty. The AirPods Pro 2 refuse to stay in my ear no matter what tip size I use. looking at the Denons or the AZ80s.
I love the information, that is when I can grasp it. 1 you speak too fast for me. 2 you do have a bit of an accent, which would not be an issue if you spoke slower. 3 being I have never owned an earbud, some of the verbale went over my head. Not everybody in the audience is an expert. Explain some of the technical words. THANK YOU.
so you have the bang and olufsen ex but not the eq i understand the ex might sound a lil better cause of the drivers it has but the bang and olufsen eq is the best sounding earbuds to me and i have had and tested alot of earbuds especially when alot of people don't like q tip still earbuds
This older video but ive been doing a lot of research and im struggling between Sennheiser mom 4,earfun pro 4, or az80. I like bass, loudness, great sound. Anc doesnt have to be perfect.
What other tws headphones have a voice detection function for conversation, and automatically mutes the sound and turns on the transparency mode, like Sony, Google, Samsung have under different names.????
Great video and comparison. I value sound quality, so while I've tried most of the earbuds on this list, I keep coming back to the Beoplays. I've heard good things about the Finals and Campfires, but after this I don't think I need to experiment further just yet and will stick to my EXes. At least for now.
@@ariesalwi2551 None that I can recall. I moved over to the Sony XM5s though. The sound is a little more powerful and dynamic, making the EXs sound weaker in comparison.
Guess I can give the status buds a try now---I have been eyeballing them for a long time. Have had Jabra, Samsungs, and soundcores (liberty pro 3)--and the soundcores get so much crap from everyone on phone calls; and the fit isn;t great for me either--find myself having to adjust them quite often
I went yesterday to a mall in Kuala Lumpur and tried out all premium earphones back to back - only two things I care about - sound quality and comfort. After trying all, have to say Beoplay Ex and Oppo Enco X2 were a league ahead others and were quite comparable to each other. Hence, went ahead and bought Oppo Enco X2 as they were one fourth of the price and these are my secondary earphones - already have Apple AirPods Pro 1st Gen (which I use exclusively for office calls, etc)
Thanks; looking forward to. And you guys are just awesome - such thorough job not just in terms of research but also the packaging of the content into such delectable videos. Well done for such hard and sincere work 🎉
Thank you for such detailed reviews! I've been looking for affordable anc buds to boost ambient sounds over my hearing damage, something less expensive than hearing aids. I've seen that Sony has an ambient volume slider, but it wasn't until your note about max ambient being no louder than the outside world took these off my list. I ended up trying Samsung, as they have a setting specifically for this.
You don't like big butts? Well, at least you lads aren't assholes. Lads, I laughed so hard that there was a change of clothes involved. My lord you lads are definitely back to form! Brilliant stuff!
I just returned my XM5s because I had issues fitting them in my ears so I had to buy XL silicone tips which rendered my "world class noise cancelling" almost useless. Also, when talking to my daughter in my truck, she said it sounded like I was underwater.
There are earbuds for every feature I want, just not all in one model 😪. My requirements are 1. good fit (I don't get a seal with my Edifier Neobuds pro no matter which silicone plug I use), 2. good ANC, 3. Volume control on the buds, 4. good bass and 5. EQ on the app. Nice-to-haves are the aptX codec and a price below 200$. Any suggestions?
Thank you. The Audio Technica are a little too expensive for me for the ANC quality they provide. I would like to give the Between 3 a try but they are impossible to source in Germany.
