🇹🇷 Istanbul Street Food Tour: • Istanbul Street Food!!...
Izmir, Türkiye - Welcome to Izmir, a historical and modern city on the Aegean Coast of Türkiye (Turkey), and home to some delicious Turkish food. Today we’re going on a food tour to eat some of the must eat specialties of Izmir.
⭐️ Huge thank you to Culinary Backstreets: culinarybackst... - Use “Migrationology10” for a 10% discount on their amazing food tours.
📍 Zeynel Ergin Gevrek Fırını (maps.app.goo.g...) - This is one of the most famous and historical bakeries in Izmir. They didn’t charge us, but prices are about $5 - 10 USD per person for a big spread of items.
📍 Tarihi Basmane Lokmacısı (maps.app.goo.g...) - They take sweets very seriously throughout Turkey, and we couldn’t miss the local specialities of Izmir. They didn’t charge us.
📍 Meşhur Kuyum Pide Salonu (maps.app.goo.g..., Price - 210 TRY ($6.51) for 2 pides
📍 Doydum Kokorec (maps.app.goo.g...) - Kokorec is one of the ultimate street foods in Turkey, and Izmir is known to have some of the best - rolled and stuffed lamb intestines. Don’t let lamb intestines scare you, they taste is incredible - seasoned with cumin, chili, and oregano. Price - 250 TRY ($7.75)
📍 Cızz Bızz Balık evi (maps.app.goo.g...) - Within the market we stopped for a quick snack of fried sardines. Total price - 300 TRY ($9.30) total price
📍 Cimbomlu Söğüşçü (maps.app.goo.g...) - Söğüş is one of the most popular and important Turkish street foods in Izmir. While I’ve eaten lamb head in many countries, in Izmir they enjoy lamb head boiled, and served cold, chopped up in a sandwich. They didn’t charge us (but price is 230 TRY ($7.13)
📍 Doyuran Manisa Kebap (maps.app.goo.g...) - Finally, we tried the famous Manisa Kebap. Total price - 270 TRY ($8.37)

If the world was a house, its cuisine would definitely be Türkiye. I have never seen a country with such delicious food and such a developed palate in my life. Turkey is divided into regions with names, (isn't it true? Black Sea, Aegean....) each region has different spices and dishes, I was shocked. I will go to Turkey again.😻

The first bakery have a beautiful homestead decor and I will definitely start my day with a sip of coffee there if I resided close by. Turkey has such a warming vibe & feeling from the culinary aspect to the people in general. My favorite is the battered fried sardines & the sheepshead wrapped with that fresh baked bread. The markets look splendid for a weekend walkthrough as well. What a amazing virtual Saturday treat this was honestly I can nearly smell the aroma through the screen from those kabobs & roasted charred peppers omgoodness lol. Thanks Mark for this phenomenal eye candy!! I'm learning Turkish cuisines are a must to experience from this remarkable tour!! Safe travels & blessings to you and your family always!! Miss do you visit Turkey? I love Italian food but you never know if you dont visit to Turkey.. Everybody says Italian foods are best in the world but Turkish cousines problem is lack of marketing.. The people at all around the world doesnt know our food.. Most of them knows our foods is Greeks food.. Actually %80 foods of Greek cousine belongs to Turkish cousine.. They stole from us, Also they didnt even change their Turkish names, when they say that is Greek food.. Because of this everybody doesnt know Turkish cousine, we are out of the ranks of Best cousines.. Unfortunately.. Let me explain little bit.. Flour is a big culture in your kitchen right? Pizza, lasagna, pasta is made by flour.. Without it, Italian cousine can suffer.. ( I don mean to offense)... But ıf you remove a few basic material (like flour), you cant still beat the Turkish cousines.. For example Italian or French or Spain cousine is just one cousine right? But we have 81 cities at Turkey and basically we have almost 75 different cousines in Turkey, because every city has their own cousines.. Because, Anatholian lands was intersection of civilizations .. We had 1000-3500 civilization since the human history.. Romans, Lydians, Selcuks, Byzanties, Sumerians, Hytites, Ottomans, Rums, Armenians, Phrygians, Urartu, Persians etc... Turkish cousines.. (Not single cousine) is the mix of all of their food cultures.. But again unfortunately, world doesnt know our food universe because of lack of marketing :(( Sad Also officially Our cousine is the 3rd or 2nd biggest cousine in the world.. But they didnt taste %95-%96 of those tons of food :(

Most farmers in the US over water their crops including Arugula/Rocket, especially in northern states where the soil has an abundance of moisture. Minimal watering will force the roots further into the ground where moisture and salts feed the plant. That's why Turkish herbs, veggies and fruits have so much flavor.

Dear Mark Wiens as i saw in your video in İzmir you tried almost every food except one that is very unique to İzmir. İt is called Kumru Sandwich. Kumru means literally "Collared Dove" because of the shape of the sandwich looks exactly like a flying Dove almost. On the video that you posted you are eating a little sandwich with lots chickpea seeds on top of it (07:50 on the video) where you ate Gevrek . That little sandwich is a the simple version of Kumru Sandwich. The one i am talking about is the real Kumru Sandwich the same bread is used but except inside you have Turkish Saussages, tons of Hot Dogs thats is cured and julienne cut into small pieces, Hellumi chesse all the ingridients are grill fried and afterwards you put Ketchap and Mayo on top of it it is a very messy but the sametime very delicious Sandwich you must try it. There is a saying in Turkey if you didn't try the Kumru Sandwich you have never been to İzmir.

Tulumbas are also popular here, in Greece. As for pide, greek version always include cheese, so it is called Peinirli (yes, a turkish name, meaning "cheesy"!). Cocorets is also popular, but not as a snack, but something you order in a taverna. A variation of Manissa kebab is called Yaourtlu Kebab here. If Turkey feels different, yet very familiar to greeks, Ismir/Smyrna feels like home!

i am living as a turkish since 23 years in spain ,a lovely country with nice people, taking off the seafood nobody can count more than fifteen dishes. nothing to compare turkish food. you should not try only fastfood ,please go to indutrial zones and try the ESNAF LOKANTASI, restaurants where working class goes to have lunch... there you see the variety of turkish kitchen. averagely 20 to 40 different dishes prepared in at least 2 and half up to 12 hours. thats why turkish kitchen is underrated. turkish kitchen has only 5 percent of food you can order a la minute. like konfuciuse said.... good things take longer.
