Bless you RU-vid gods for recommending me your video! Liked and subbed! I look forward to any devlogs of your game! I also am (very early on in) making a game that needs water/sailing functionality so this is just gorgeous
God DAMN I wish these weren't so expensive. Especially when potentially buying from Australia. I know they are worth it and if you want quality it's gonna cost you, but at the current conversion, it's about $800 AUD X_X
I don't disagree with you there but, there is a lot of time in development. If you look at fluid flux, another great option. It costs more but is a lot more expensive to run with a lot of limitations for open world use. Oceanology 5.1.7 is shipping soon as well with a bunch of new features and even better overall systems. I will do an overview soon as I have my hands on it!
Your videos are very helpful. I was able to get the plugin up and running but for some reason I cant get foam on the shoreline no matter how much I adjust the Rvt.
@@officialpaperplanesgame thankyou, I will send you a message there when i'm on my desktop. I remember I updated the 8 line code on the engine ini but did not add the other 100 plus line code, does that go there as well?
The plugin does look good but a quick recommendation if you do some other showcase videos. I've not heard of this plugin before, don't know what this plugin's capable of, I want to be know, and I want to be impressed. Instead of having a static background and a picture of the marketplace at the start of your video while you're doing the intro show me the best of what it can do. Don't make me search through the video to get the overview.
Its cool and it looks great, but its really expensive. Ultra Dynamic Sky is arguably more important to an open world game - the weather is always a factor, but the ocean is only a factor in coastal areas. UDS is often on discount, and currently is $20, while Oceanology is $250. Guess I'll wait for a sale
I do not belive it is bindable to the character any longer since this is a full rewright of the code. You can get a definitive answer in the oceanology discord. As I am still playing with that myself.
Hey man have you found a good method for masking out the infinite ocean? I’ve got a landscape with a coast then it dips down lower than the shore in some places inland and I don’t want water all the way out there. Any way to mask?
It does have a mask eating in the rvt, but you have to set the mask to 1. There are 2 mask peramaeters in masking. Then you can use the mask setting in the rvt tab to control how much. I will have some new videos in 5.4 coming out next week starting Sunday night.
PLEASE don't forget to return to the subject of masking water from the boat! I use Unreal Engine for cinematics, and I have a scene I need to film in which I have to remove the water from the inside of a small boat on the ocean, and the tutorials I've found thus far don't do a good job of explaining it. =(
Let me get in touch with one of the devs today and see how the new system works. I have not used that function in the new version yet either. I will keep you posted :)
I think the big three, voxel, fluid Flux and oceanology, rarely go on sale. But I have a new video coming out later tonight that has a little surprise :).
I use it in world partition on all my projects with no issue at all. I have seen a few people on the Oceanology discord that does stylized water with this water system but, I have not personally so I do not know exactly how.
I do not have the scene downloadable currently. I am thinking about opening a patron where the packaged project can be downloaded to walk around and see the scene.
Honestly, I do not know the answer to that question. But, In the description, I have a link to discord. I belive I saw a few people talking about using for mobile games before but, I can't say for sure.
@@Adil-vi8xw yes, I just saw this is not mobile ready yet but, I belive 5.1.9 will be. I know 5.6 will be for sure. I'll keep everyone posted on that as well. 5.1.8 releases this weekend and 5.1.9 is just around the corner. I will continue with feature update videos as new features are added :)
You can get pretty close using oceanology and fluid ninja together. I have planes to do a video on that this coming week. There are many ways to get ocean spray with Niagara particles.
I did not have RVT set up on the ship. With RVT's you will see foam around the ship. For moving ships I use Fluid ninja for trailing foam and wake. This is only the oceanology Demo map so I do not have that plugin added into this project. I do plan to go through that a little more in upcoming videos. :)
Thank you very much for the video. I have two doubts. When I generate a timeline and camera and I want to render the ocean I have flicker in certain parts of the landscape that when I render it is noticeable and certain portions of the ocean disappear. On the other hand, I have oceanology installed and also ninja fluid, I was able to float my own boats with oceanology using BP from the pirate ship that it comes with, but now I would like to add the tracking foam to the boat with ninja fluid, I would like to know how you do it please. Thank you so much.
I may go over that pretty soon. As for the flickering, if you get the code to add into your project as I talked about in oceanology getting started video. It will remove the flickering. You will have to get the code from the oceanology discord and add to the projects default.ini file.
hank you for the fantastic video! Are you considering creating a tutorial on this plugin? I'm quite eager to utilize it, but I'm having difficulty finding additional information elsewhere."
Personally, it is the only one I can get to run at a good fps. Waterline pro works at a good fps as well but much harder to work with for wave customization. The main reason I use oceanology.
