Tour of Quartzsite! During the winter months vans, cars and RV's outnumber permanent houses by about 500 to 1. The small town of Quartzsite has less than 4,000 year-round residents, but receives a winter migration of nearly 2 million people and their mobile dwellings each year.

Thank you for making these videos about Quartzsite. My parents spent many many winters there, and it is cool to see what it looks like. Although they haven't traveled for 10 years. Well, my mom passed on, and my dad ended up with dementia. I swear FT RVing kept them younger than just sitting around the house.

Make the opportunity to visit. Few regret it. With a vehicle you can stay on BLM land free. There are people without a vehicle who tent. You'll see all sorts of things and people.

Going CA to PHX a lot, I make Quartzite a regular stop, but I NEVER knew of most of these great spots until this video. I"m coming out for RTR 2023, and having this mental map of the go-to places removes a lot of apprehension. And it saves a whole lot of time searching to get something done!! Well done!

We work in CO during the summer so it seems natural to spend winter in AZ, but we still have eldercare duties in FL for a bit yet, and soon enough will have alternative winter options to choose from. I used to contract work in PHX so we got to visit Q from a rental car in 2007 before we bought our first RV. We attended Life On Wheels newbie RV full-timing training in 2007 in Tucson right before aerospace downsized & cast me away, so I knew someday we would be returning. I took your 18-hour on-line course and knew it was for us, that was how we got the concessionaire job managing 13 campgrounds for the USFS district near Salado, CO in the summer. It is hard work, but very rewarding. See you down the road. David & Sheila

Good video Bob. You might want to remember remind people that if they are headed west from Quartzsite they should gas up since the gas prices can be as much is two dollars more per gallon once you get into California. Also if you are heading from the Los Angeles area east towards Arizona wait to fuel up until you get to Arizona to save money. If you’re running on empty in eastern California just stop and get a few gallons of gas, just enough to get you into Arizona, you’ll save a lot of money. Before doing any road trip I can to check typical gas prices for each state I am going through and do my fueling accordingly. Once again, Bob, has made such an informative video and always personally offered in his unique style

I had the idea that this was some sort of no man’s land. It’s a regular little town. That’s nice to know. Thanks! We aren’t in a position to travel but we enjoy doing it vicariously. It’s fun seeing how this community of people has helped so many. Especially seniors on very tight budgets. You just never know when you might need to live in your car. We flooded during Hurricane Harvey and I learned quickly how you can become homeless. It was surreal.

Thanks for the video I appreciate it. I am planning on making it out there in January or February. I have heard that camping on BLM land is mostly for RV's that are totally contained and if you are van/auto camping there is a special area near portapottys. Can you talk a bit more about that, maybe show on a map where some of them are or other options? I would truly appreciate it. Thank you once again.
