What's up everyone?! I hope this video of the iFootage Cobra 2 Strike is helpful. Would be super interested in knowing what you think about it. Have you used a video monopod in the past? Do you think it’s useful? Make sure to check out the tips and tricks video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--0j6aOOqeaM.html
Awesome. Which adapter do you mean? The one I said you don't need, or the mounting clip? This is what I used to use when there was only a 1/4 20 and I wanted 3/8 amzn.to/2MGSJDo Now I don't need it anymore. Hope that helps.
Tech Gear Talk haha sorry no. The one that it came with - it's the circular flat plate on top but it has the male side 6 sides big plastic piece on the bottom to fit the fluid head into the bottom legs of the monopod to make the tabletop size tripod
Wow I used to watch this channel all the time before it went all Apple all the time but seeing this monopod review made me revisit it because I love my Ifootage so much.
iFootage nailed it. I use the Mini pod, or the base of the mono pod for my church on a balcony. Amazing product. Heavy but quality. I just bought a SmallRig version this one is so solid in comparison. Worth the money. The quality says it's worth the money.
I had not heard of this brand before. Monopods are nearly vital for wedding filmmaking, and I am in the market for one! Thanks for the review/features, it was well-done & informative without being over the top, you hit the sweet spot on this one.
Thanks Chris. I randomly came across this brand at NAB - saw what they had to offer and really liked it. This is the first product that I actually used and I really liked it.
@@TechGearTalk Of course! especially when you are filming live events like weddings, I can re frame faster. Also bonus vertical traveling revealing shots and dolly in and out shots. So versatile!!!
This was the 3rd review I've watched for this monopod and by far the best, showing all the features. The others had a couple tips, but only focused on a couple of the cool things this can do. It's on my wish list now for sure!
Right - ON TARGET!!! I was in the market for a quality monopod and narrowed it down to two. Sirui and iFootage. Only looked at Amazon but decided to see if I could get some reviews of monopods on RU-vid first. Saw your video and... Bam. You sold me on this monopod AND the Komodo fluid head. I'm getting both. What really sold me on the monopod was your demo of the twist to extend or retract feature. That to me is a game changer compared to other models. I already have an iFootage tripod and already knew the quality of their products is top tier. So no sell job needed from that perspective. Thanks for the video. I'm glad I clicked on it and saw it before making any purchase. Cheers. 🥂
Yeah, that twist and extend thing is the game changer for me too. Guess I will be spending money soon. Lol. By the time I buy it I wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with the longer version of it. I think more monopods are going to copy this style soon.
@@eatermckinnon4644 My order is currently on its way to me. I ordered both the monopod and the fluid head. I'm not a tall person so I think with the monopod extended fully and with the fluid head and camera attached, it should be a great height for me. If you're taller, you might want to consider ordering the extension piece that iFootage sells or as you said, wait for them to come out with a longer version, maybe. Can't wait to start using this new equipment.
@@TechGearTalk Update: I received my iFootage Cobra 2 Strike Monopod and could not be more pleased with the product. This will allow me to be a lot more creative with my video recordings. Along with my iFootage Wild Bull Carbon Fiber Tripod, this gives me all I should need as stable bases from which to shoot both pictures and video. Thanks again for your review which made it all possible.
Props to your video... I purchased this along with the Komodo head. I was frustrated about storage for the head. I didn’t realize the bag had that design.
Great stuff. If I didn't have another monopod already , I would buy this. I was listening to this in the car on the way home and I had to check right away to see if mine could do a similar mini tripod feature. I think if I can find a 1/4inside with 3/8 outside adapter, I might be able to pull it off. But then I'll have to carry and hope not to lose the adapter. Such a great tip and feature.
I want this in my life badly.... I need to replenish the toy fund stat!!! I just ordered a new camera and lenses today (your vids on the sl2 helped seal the deal). Thanks for the great reviews man! It makes it easier letting go of that hard earned cash.
It is a nice monopod. Too bad the Strike is a bit to big to fit in a carry on bag. However I have read that airports have a compartment to store things like tripods and canes.
I have to wonder if you’ve tried out the Sirui monopods. They blow this out of the water with some features and they had that game-changer feature 6 years ago. Their base locking system is the best and the feet are the longest and strongest.
@@TechGearTalk Tank you for the response. If you do get the opportunity to work with one, I'd say, try the P-424sr. However, their entire line is well designed. Keep making great content. Thank you.
I not only enjoy your content but more so, appreciate the level of detail you take to help people just like me. That being said, I have the Manfrotto MVH500AH head and was hoping you knew if this head would fit on the iFootage Cobra 2 Strike Monopod. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Great review. This monopod looks amazing. Do you recommend it also for traveling and hiking, or would the smaller click version c120 be more convenient? I just wonder if you can easily put in a suitcase or rucksack.
It's a tossup between smaller and more portable (which I always love) and the functionality. If I could still fit this in my bag, I'd take this one. If I couldn't, I'd take the click version. Does that make sense?
Hello, Very interesting review and system. Which larger dimensions the small tripod part can take on the ground? Also, iFootage seems to not sell it anymore. Any problem with the model?
Excellent monopod review, sir! As a stills landscape and product photographer, I'm thinking of a monopod to complement my tripods, and am considering either the IFOOTAGE Cobra C180-II (with a Leofoto VH-105 tilting head)....OR a Sirui P-324, but have heard of the following possible issues. Any thoughts on these alleged “issues" or which monopod is more robust? "The Cobra 2 has a "plastic" ball joint at the base, and the 1/4 3/8 threads don't completely retract for mounting". "The Sirui's ball joint at the base gets dirt/grit easily, making cleaning necessary more often." Thank you!
Love your videos, Sagi. What do you think about mounting a gimbal on to this monopod? Ever try? For additional smoothness from the gimbal plus the assets of the monopod.
@@TechGearTalk appreciate the reply! I'm a newbie at all this, but i use a sony a6400 on my ronin SC on a tripod to get some cool stuff (jib type shots, overheads, or just standing the tripod normally). I imagine putting SC on to an awesome (lighter, less bulky) Cobra 2 could be very nice. cheers
Looks great quality. Wish I had the pennies to buy it; but then as a bit of a weakling, could I lift it😜. PS: you’ve got another subscriber due to your ‘down to Earth’ presentation.
Hi ! Great review thank you so much ! It looks awesome. One question : you mentioned it can be locked but does it stand still with a light setup such as an Sony A7S with a 24-70 ? I’am afraid it can fall . Thanks for your kind answer !
Ok, so, “will it stand”? Probably, as long as you balance it and no one touches it. Do I trust it as much as a tripod, of course not. What was your intended use. Describe the situation.
How stable are the feet? Would you be happy not holding the monopod itself with say a Sony A7III on top? I currently use the Sirui P-204S which does a good job but noticed recently it's starting to lean a lot more and I feel less sure on it's stability.
The feet are super stable, but I would be worried about leaving any camera on it. I've done it for sure, but someone could easily tip it over by bumping it and there's a lot of money at the end :) When do you usually find yourself doing that?
@@TechGearTalk I do it a lot at weddings. Not to necessarily leave it unsupervised. More to stop there being any camera shake/movement in the footage. I sometimes have to fit in tight spaces at the front and a tripod wouldn't really be sufficient. So I tend to set up and let go. Still in reach to grab it. Although I have been known to leave it unattended to check on another camera quickly but only once everyone is sat down and not moving.
That's a fair question, and one I can not honestly answer. I can tell you that it's well built. But I have only had it for a few months now. I've had my normal lock one forever and it still works.
The initial picture shows the model u have m, but wen I go to select a size and color it shows a previous model so I’m abit sceptical but I’ve placed the order any way will see wen it arrives in South Africa about 28days later🤣🤣🤣
I'm interested in the Corbra 2 but and wondering whether I can use my "standard" Manfrotto QR 323 with it. Do you know? Would hate to have to switch QRs as I go from mono to tripod to Joby and what not.
note that the option you mention at 7.30 minutes into the video is also available with the Manfrotto MVMXPRO500 monopod link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MB_NTjD1bik.htmlm
Hi Ed. I have seen those but have not actually used them so I don't want to speak to their actual quality without first-hand experience. I will tell you that I still use and love the Strike.
Thanks for the reply@@TechGearTalk ! Have you used any monopods with a fluid system at all? Just wondering of the speed of height adjustment is worth sacrificing for fluid motion. Just for shooting weddings by the way.
This is what I switch from: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--0j6aOOqeaM.html If you already have a good monopod, it might not be worth an upgrade. But the head is a fluid head and on the manfrotto it o my tilts.
Hi Steve. That' an incredible lens (you can see it in this video) and works well with the SL2. You can see some video footage with it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JIb30UZKmkY.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kmy4Oq3YbMU.html It is expensive though, what other lenses do you have? What do you shoot?
I had never tried that so I'm not really sure. My guess is that it would fit, but I have not confirmed this. I am letting someone borrow my ronin-s but I will try to remember to give it a shot when I get it back.
