it’s up to you - I haven’t paid for any products to review - that would get expensive. However, if this is a product you wanted to buy - that would be a pretty good deal.
I have the Sony ZV-E10 and the Lark M1 Mic, but every time I put in the mic to the camera the sound mutes completely. Has someone the same problem and can help me out pls?
I ordered my M1 while watching your video. I already own the fantastic Lark 150, so this was a no brainer. Despite not having a Lav mic input, the size of it makes that almost a non issue. I can see how I could easily hide it under a shirt collar or other areas. I can see - or I should say "hear" - how the noise canceling feature of the M1 still needs some work. But, given the sound quality, that is not a deal breaker for me. Great review. Thank you for the heads up and the link.
It’s so great. I’ve been grabbing it every time I have to go make a test of a piece of gear. I am so surprised how much time it saves me even over the already convenient Lark 150. I’m using both ALL the time
Please HELP someone! 😅 I picked this up recently but it seems quiet when I set the camera volume to 1 like you and the manual says...am i doing something wrong? When I boost the gain in camera or just raise the volume in Resolve to a good volume, it clips...what do you do to get the volume level right?
I actually had this issue right now where my Godox Movelink M2 is dropping in audio like what happened 09:51 but mine is while using Mono as default and needs to have it in stereo otherwise i will get many of those lowered muddy audio in between. Maybe due to the ZV E10 preamp? not sure.
It's actually day 1 of Amazon Prime here in UAE, if only it has an internal recording feature, i will not have a 2nd thought of getting this, but at least i have great option now to consider, thanks for the info very straight forward, Cheers
Can you please share me audio level in E10, I am using same setup but i am Not satisfied with audio quality, same mic with my iphone, audio is top notch, help me please
Didn’t need as have 2 systems already. But you convinced me to check Amazon. It was US$99 with free delivery here to Hong Kong. Couldn’t resist but to buy! Damn you Mark! 🤦♂️🤪
Hey so I’ve tried pretty much everything to get the mark1 to record audio on the ZV E-10 but it won’t record from it and I don’t know why, I’ve used different jacks and ports and nothing has worked, I put the internal audio setting level of the camera to 10 and also 1 and I got the same result from the camera audio just quiet
You might have been plugging in the 3.5mm headphone jack into the wrong port, there’s 2 on the camera. One next to the charger which is for earphones, and one above that that you open separately for mics
Nice bro, i bought it after see ur video, but need help on mic level on zve10 with this m1, any recommend for the settings? The manuall book just say that on +1 on mic lvl, but its too low... and not satisfied with... pls hlp ... thnks
why when i use hollyland lark m1 mic on my sonyzv e10. when I move away from the camera, the sound, the sound I speak is very low. almost unrecordable? Anyone know please help me😢😢
Thanks for the review! As the second member in the 𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗞 family, it lowers the threshold for everyone who intends to get great audio for their production, especially for non-professionals and beginners with specific audio quality requirements.
@@hollylandtech I got it but unfortunately I was disappointed. Very crackly in the audio even when the noise cancelling is turned off. Maybe I got a dud? Either way the audio from the 2 videos I tried to film with it makes the video unusable
Thanks for the review, i'm wondering how about the file transfer process? Is it a drag and drop or do we need to use an app/program? And like the Rode only one file transfer at a time, is that the case for Hollyland as well?
This mic does not internally record - so there's no file to transfer. You connect the receiver to your camera's mic jack or your computer or phone's mic jack. The audio is recorded with the video file.
Hi Mark, one more question, Its my first time using this, for some reason the receiver lights are blue and i have tried to push the power button, What do you think is the reason. Thanks so much.
the receiver light goes green in mono mode. check the manual for all indicators download.hollyland.com/User_manual/LARK%20M1/LARK%20M1%20User%20Manual%EF%BC%88English%EF%BC%89.pdf
Can I use this with a go pro 7 black? Also, can I use this with another source on a podcast? Let us see I am interviewing someone and I am talking into a blue jeti mic, and the other person is talking into hollyland. Would that work?
I currently have Rode Wireless Go II but one transmitter got wet and will no long work. Would you get the Hollyland as a replacement or go back to the Rode Wireless Go II? Thanks…love your channel.
Actually didn’t think the wind noise was too bad without the wind muff. Your link took me to Amazon Canada (Being a resident of the ‘Zed’ speaking country), and noted mics are $199 CDN but there is a $40 coupon…nets out to close to the $114 US). Almost purchased, but decided that without the lag mic plug in likely not the best fit for me (already have the Rode versions which work so well). These look like a phenomenal value, great audio, small and so tempting! Great video once again!
Looks like a very interesting system. I use the Saramonic Blink 500 for my wireless audio and love it. The transmitter is bigger than this but I always use a lav mike anyway so it's not a huge deal. Thanks for the video!
Ordered a set through your link. Seems like a great little mic. I have a comica wireless setup and recently shot a wedding where the audio cut out quite a bit even with a direct line of sight within 50 ft. Also, Toronto seems nice. Hope to visit someday.
How bout stereo and mono mode? The indicator is really not clear. Green for mono ? Blue for stereo. And noise cancellation on/off indicator ? Need some work to understand the function all of switchs button
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks for sharing . My finding is When mic is green the cancelation noise is activated, if blue the noise cancellation is turn off Different with TX when blue indicator means stereo and if green the mono is activated. Its right ?
It's in the instruction manual that came with the M1 - Green on the Transmitter (TX) is Noise Cancelling ON. Blue on the Transmitter is Noise Cancelling OFF. Green light on the Receiver (RX) is MONO mode. Blue Light on Receiver is Stereo / Phone mode.
Very good video and thank you! I just received them today. I ordered them on black friday (Supposedly) on offer through the hollyland page and from there through amazon at around 160 euros final price. And I hear from you now at 114 euros and I am really upset with HOLLYLAND and their fake discounts. (I'm unhappy) Unfortunately I should have seen your video earlier. I don't think I will trust them again in the future, nor will I recommend them..
That was an introductory price only - I mentioned the special price for the release. This video is a couple of months old. So the regular price is much higher than the special price I mentioned in the video. They did discount it on Black Friday. Hollyland is a good company - I think you just misheard me in the video. The price in Germany right now on the M1 is 178 euros before tax so I think you got a good deal
can you do a comparison between the 150 and the M1 and maybe even the in built mic on the camera? To me the sound of your voice seemed a bit tinny on the M1. There's no question it's a neat little package but if the quality isn't as good as the other options I'm not sure I would buy it.
I got the ZVe10 and the Hollyland Lark M1 both new in my hands,... learning curve how to set all this up, what would I do without youtube videos like yours??? sure freak out
I wonder is there a way to replace batteries after a time or is this going to be kind of disposable after a few years? I wonder if one of those deity mics with the secondary input, plug this into that then you get really small lav and mini shotgun on your system. giving it a shot. thanks for the timely video. Now I don't have to worry about anything rode or DJI. I realized there may be a great way to hide this mic from view, in plainsite. not the windscreen but at least the mic.
it comes with a 3.5mm cable. You need the adapter for the phones. The are about to release one specifically for iphone called the C1. I will do a review.
Great video mate. I am now in the market to buy a new camera. My old Nikon D500 has pretty bad recorder and produces a lot of hiss (white noise) when recording with an external microphone. Do you hear such hiss when recording with an external microphone on the ZV-e10?
Hi Mark! Love your channel and your sense of humor. I picked up this mic recently to test out on my ZVE 10 and can't seem to get it to connect. Do you have any tips? Everything appears on and then when I review the videos the mic does not appear to be working.
make sure the 3.5mm cable is plugged into the mic port and not the headphone port, and that it's pushes all the way in. Set your volume at about 5 on the camera
@@loganj2320 There's no way for me to know really, but make sure the 3.5mm jack is plugged all the way into the camera and receiver. Sometimes it's only halfway in the jack - and in that case, you'll get no sound
Great review, Mark! And you're funneee! A question for you. I want to potentially use this with my Pixel 6A. Ii realize I would need to buy an adapter to plug it into the USB-C on the 6A. But will the dang thing work with my 6A??
These are not indoor studio mics. You shouldn't use them for that. These are portable lav mics meant for on location - the sound quality does not compete with pro mics in a studio. It's better than the cameras mic (which is of course bad), but not as good as a boomed mic. Won't sound great in a studio.
yes - it will work for sure. you need to plug the 3.5mm cable into the camera from the the receiver and make sure it’s securely pushed in all the way. and of course, make sure it’s charged up
Great content! What wireless microphone/ camera setup would you recommend for setting up the camera on a tripod and showing your full body moving through space for example demonstrating a running technique/ workout video. Sony zv-e10 is bad with recording moving objects so would nikon z30 be better for that? If so , what wireless mic goes best with nikon z30
the Sony zv-e10 will be fine for running or workout video. the rolling shutter wouldn’t be noticed unless it was something like a race car. I would get a Zv-e10, a Sony 11mm 1.8 or a Sigma 16mm 1.4 if you can move the camera backache bit furthe. get a Deity pocket wireless for the mic. Those would be my suggestions
Hey, thanks for the info. Great video. I've subbed and really been enjoying your content. I've been interested in a mic setup like this to try for videos! Just ordered it through your link.
Purchased for when I'm shooting one or two people with my phone. They look so light. Maybe I'll put a mic on the end of some kind of thin, extending pointer...as a kind of a boom or street interview mic.
Mr. Bluesey Bennett! Sounds good man, maybe I will get one of these as well, Prime Day all day today... you're going to be rolling in it! Perhaps your voice is starting to recover? Down that Neo Citran, that stuff is da bomb!
Hold on, I use it for voice over right now, but as long as it's connected to the laptop I can't listen to check the record I just did. Not wit laptop speaker and also not with blue tooth headset. What am I doing wrong?
I'm not sure if I believe in destiny....but you posted this during a week of searching for a wireless lav mic...was looking at a Rhode Wireless GO II and almost got it. But, this is half the price. So thank's Mark. I've never clicked an affiliate link so fast.
oh definitely not - the dji has backup recording and the ability to plug a lav in. but if you’re just clipping a transmitter to a shirt, this thing can’t be beat. insanely light.
both great, but the lark m1 has two transmitters so if you need two, that’s the the way to do. the Deity can have a lav mic plugged in (which is included) and has a screen to see and I prove that. but if you don’t plan to plug in the lav mic to the transmitter, I would get the M1 because it’s so much smaller and lighter
@Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis I have (had, the transmitter broke) the Rode Wireless Go, and I actually wasn't impressed even when they were working. Hopefully these will serve what I need.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis hi brother I have tested this Mic with Camera volume 3 n mic Medium - sounds very low even with 400% up with imovie software. Then I tested at Camera 15 n Mic Medium that's sound fine but I had to reduce noise on imovie. Finally I have test at camera 25 and Mic M that sounds loud had to reduce noise. My biggest is is sound quality is not clean.
The price is unbeatable but not having a lav input and the fact that the DJI can record directly on the units had me pay for those units. But at 114 when you did this that’s a steal
It really was a steal. I still use this all the time because it's so convenient. The DJI is the best you can get - you made a good choice. Hollyland make the Lark 150, which is much more comparable to the DJI - but it doesn't have internal recording.
yes - too bad about the lav. the Tamron is an amazingly useful lens as long as you don’t mind the variable aperture or need super low light. but 18-300 at that size is amazong
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis will you review the tamron? I am still in doubt whether to buy tamron or waiting a bit longer for sony rx-10 mark 5 to be rumouredly released in teh end of 2022? I wanna explore superzoom but I wanna also the sharpness of sigma 16mm f1.4. I don’t know if i should wait for the uncertainty?
they are all made in China except rode in Australia. DJI, Comica, Saramonic, LensGo, etc - all China. Hollyland lark 150 has lasted me a year of abuse with no issues. build quality is great on this and the Lark 150.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Cheers Mark..I am working on a UK version..I dont want to give away too much as its in prototype stage...its build around 2 paper cups and a piece of string..just working out camera connection? (but will under cut the far east manufactures)
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis 79€ for the transmitter + receiver. While the pack is 133€; I'm not doing interviews or similar so don't really need the extra transmitter. DO you think the double the price is worth it for the case alone? For that price I can get some Rode Wireless Go.
@@TechWithBruno if you don’t mind charging with the USB - you might as well save some money. I think it will be a lot better than the go if you’re clipping the transmitter to your shirt. Longer battery life and way smaller and lighter.
it’s better than the rode in my opinion if you plan to clip a transmitter to your shirt. you can plug a lav mic into the rode. but if you’re going to use a lav I would recommend the Lark 150. I find the rode mics peak a lot. It will work with the Gopro as long as you have the optional media mod
Good mic but little too late to the game. Most people either bought the Rode, Dji or Saramonic. I would buy it like 2 years ago. Good price and good reviews though.
Nobody has anything like this - I’ve tried them all 🤣 Charging case, 8 hour battery life, feather light perfect shape for shirts and cheaper than most. For people who clip the transmitter to their clothes, this one is the best I’ve seen by a lot.
