So I was wonder how you think it stacks up to the king ( sure smb7) I was considering the sure and the universal Apollo solo which is where maybe you could let me know your thought with Arturia audio fuse stacked up against the solo. any insight would help greatly. thank you

Hi Archie ! I like to begin saying the fact that your studio is one of my favorites from the entire RU-vid and I enjoy watching your reviews. I want to buy the Universal Audio SD-1 standard dynamic microphone, but tell me please with which usb sound interface should I combine it ? I've got the option to buy an Universal Audio Volt 2, Apollo Solo usb, Motu M2,Motu M4, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th gen or the Audient iD14 MKII or Audient iD4 MKII . And also which active monitors should I buy for my home studio ? I was used to the Kali Audio IN-8 2nd Wave and the Adam T8V , but should the Kali Audio IN-5 or Adam T5V be enough for my home studio? Can you advice me please ? Thank you in advance and may God bless you brother !!!

I was told it doesn’t need one. I bought it and have used it with my Scarlett 2i2. It doesn’t need the phantom power but I gotta crank the gain up to like 90-95% on my Scarlett.

Question, do you NEED to use the plugins in order to get great sound from the mic? I stream and use the Wave XLR so I'd pretty much be running it naked beyond like 1 or 2 plugins that come with the Wave.

hello! I had a quick question! I am a streamer and wanted to use this mic on my stream. However, after connecting it to my go xlr mini the mic does not seem to ork. So my question is do I need to have a UA audio interface to have this mic work??

Do you use fetheads/mic lifter or any preamp to boost the sd-1 thinking of buying those..i have a Zoom L8 Livetrak Mixer/Interface. what do you prefer with these 2?i mean the sm7b or sd-1?

Not for this demo but I use my apollo x interface which does just fine with giving it a great boost. I prefer booth. They have different sounds but equal quality. The SM7b has more low end but the SD-1 has more in the mid and top end.

I'd stick with the 103, that's a condenser and this UA mic is a dynamic so if you have a professionally treated room then stick to the 103! If you don't have any treatment on your walls then go with a dynamic because it will catch less room noise! cheers

I feel like the majority of people that will buy this microphone will be for vocals of some sort. For them to include just one lead vocal podcast etc. is ridiculous No one’s buying this Mic as an instrument Mic . And if they are they’re buying more than one so universal audio needs to rethink their” software” Include it with this Mic and be a little more accommodating

I just sold my Twin X because you bypass the preamps when using outboard gear plus the converters are subpar. This mic is a rebranded $84 microphone.

it's a ripoff from a cheap thomann mic. i bought it and will send it back. sounds cheap and nothing like a sm7b. 🤷🏼‍♂️

No, but there are other videos out there talking about how it is appears to have been manufactured by the same OEM that makes the t-bone BC-500, and might also be making the Music Villa MV-3 mics. Selling for $84 and $175 respectively, the latter looks very very close to the SD-1. Now of course, it's always possible that UA may have requested some customs features for their version of the mic. Now, are the upgrades worth making the price $300? I honestly would love to see a head to head to head of those 3 mics somewhere. That being said, if you are already invested in the UA eco system, obviously, they want you to buy their mics, and this could possibly open the door to an eventual Apollo Solo bundle with the mic... They obviously want a bite out of that "Pro-sumer" Podcast/Streaming and Home Recording hobbyist market.
