It's amazing how paint can transform the atmosphere of a space. My childhood home had honey oak everywhere, and growing up my mom favoured buttery yellow wall colours that only accentuated the yellow/orange glow... she repainted last year in soft white and a lavender-y grey and oh my word, looks like an entirely new space. Beautiful!

I just got my first house and I've spent the last month trying to decide paint colours! I've finally settled on an off-white that suits the grey floors, but this video was super helpful for the rooms that won't be off-white! The master bedroom is rather plain, so I think I'll add some wainscoting and paint the bottom half in a nice relaxing colour. Keep up the great work! Glad I found this! My house was built in 94 and has honey oak everywhere! I don't think I have the energy to paint my walls AND trim so want a good wall paint that will look good now and whenever I get the courage to change up all the trim.

Julie. This video was extra helpful and the best illustrated tutorial on pairing wall color with wood tone. I follow several e color consultants and have learned a lot about undertones from them. THANK YOU JULIE! I’m in the middle of a whole house gut with our downsize retirement house. I started off really wanting what I call “schoolhouse oak floor” with mid-cent slab natural cherry cabs and I’m actually having trouble getting these materials or even MDF. Outstanding video, Julie…..and it’s the only one of its kind (from what I’ve found). I have to match some sort of color for a very small music studio, with what are “light ash brown” LVP. 10X10’ room is too small for dark colors (IMO). Thanks for mentioning new builds recommendations. It is really hard to find recommendations for going to the design center with your builder, when you have only ever been in the model of your new home and are expected to pick out cabinets, floors and paints from scratch. I have gum wood everywhere and it's kind of orange and red! I'm struggling to find the right whole house color and also a greige for trim and kitchen cabinets! I really like edgecomb grey for cabinets

Great video. Our home has popular wood trim and doors stained about walnut shade, about medium brown. We also have oak kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets that are a litter brown. Trying to decide on a color. I wanted white but wife wants a very soft grey or pastel shade of purple. Does grey go with brown? I was wanting a color that would open up the living area and make the space feel bigger which is why i chose white over a light grey or darker color. Thanks,

I love the way you explain the colour wheel with the wood tones. I'm sorry to say, but every time I see wood everywhere I just want to get it painted to blend in with my walls. I have found these amazing floor and wall tiles in a marble effect finish but are actually a ceramic tile. I'm kind of over wood floors and trim! Great channel thank you for all your technical know how🙏💗

8:47~ You saved me!! I have watched over 20 videos for solving to this problem. Our 1990's home has honey oak floor. I love the real tree thing, but it's pain of choosing good matches with this floor... I have to choose the wall paint color as soon as possible...but I'm still trying to figure it out which color will be the best.. Thank you for the video though!

I like my living room wall paint colour in neutral orange , but my wood doors and door mouldings are varnished similar to reddish /orange tone. What difference I should make ? I have Mahogany trim and floors and omg... it's like every color looks good paired with it. It could be because I'm a neutral earth tone type of girl. I'm not really trying to tone it down. More like make it pop. I did black in my bedroom and I'm in love!

If you love the warmer/ yellow tones, go for something similar and help it all come together through your furnishings and decor Sonya. If you don’t love the honey oak, go for something cooler and contrasting.

My uncle painted and stained as part of his job and would mix his own blends on site sometimes. I don't know how he did it, but he was able to mix a paint that changed from yellow in the morning to nearly orange at sunset (I think he mixed a pigmented gloss layer in so it was kind of a marble effect with the color popping with the difference in light).

I painted my kitchen cabinets from wood stain -- to chalk paint off white and a blue. Looks great. Now the wood door looks goofy; unmatched. I'm trying to figure out if I should paint the door or leave it; to paint the trim or leave it -- just in the kitchen. The rest of the house? Wood trim and doors stay. But what about the kitchen......?
