I used a 1:1 of water and vinegar for cleaning all of my pet birds' items, worked a treat on their poo

Very nice. Also, a great tool to use on enclosures that house more defensive T's, is a barrel cleaning rod for rifles. You can screw on several attachments and give yourself as much breathing room as needed.

I’ll give a useful tip for every cleaning situation you have. First try vinegar or baking soda. Seriously those two are often more effective than any fancy cleaning product you can buy. I once needed to clean very rusty chains and was prepared to use some crazy expensive rust removal. Well turns out that you just leave them in vinegar and they are good as new😂

I use the scraper technique a lot myself. My skunk gecko ALWAYS uses the front glass too!

Necessary watching before getting an avicularia ;) Part of why I don't think they are a good first tarantula- I think your average beginner isn't going to be thrilled to have to do that much enclosure cleaning. I admit most of the time my avic's enclosure is not looking great, using water just tends to smear things around. I had used vinegar for some cleaning, but I'm going to try lemon juice! I also have a plastic blade scraper for cleaning, if you don't want to use metal. I have found if I use those little magnetic fake rock cups for water and keep them slightly elevated or on the higher surface area of the enclosure, none of my tarantulas poop in the water. You just switch out the inner plastic cup and clean it.

Generalissimo Alex, tu es incomparable !!!!! The last 4 years I have been studying Toms T videos as well as yours, Richards Petco,of course and Tarantula Kat. As Tom,inevitably uses the phrase "festooning my cage with poo" which sets me back chuckling,commonly,many times Ive wanted to ask him,how do you clean tarantula poo???? What is its consistency? Wet? Hard? Mushy? What then? I was afraid Id be stoned by all the spiderlings on his channel. But you,in your celestial masterfulness have marched to the forefront to provide the answers !!! Superb Alex. I had 57 snakes,all nonv at one time,I know something about cleaning snake poo. I grew up 2 Burms one a 10ft,one an 8 1/2 ft,I'll leave it to your imagination how that went. Step one,of course,open all the windows first.

I haven't watched the video yet but I use nasal saline spray on a cotton pad and clean the poop off the sides of the enclosures. The saline helps break down and soften the harder older poop and it's non toxic. Especially since I follow up with a water only cotton pad.

Just one little bun mo for everyone. If you have acrylic cages which can get scratches easily,even from paper towels,may I suggest the Zeis wiped you find in Walmart. They are $5.00 for 100. I use them for Zeis and Swarovski rifle scope lenses. They will not scratch the cage.

I use this method of cleaning for my leachie. I have the scraper, and I use diluted vinegar for cleaning the enclosure glass.

Really helpful video, thank you. I know a lot of people recommend vinegar for cleaning around tarantulas, but it makes me nervous because I’ve also seen a lot of vinegar sprays advertised as a natural pesticide for spiders due to the acetic acid. I can’t seem to find a straight answer on whether it’s only if there is direct contact or if the fumes can be harmful too. Lemon juice might be a better option to ease my mind.
