You don’t understand the practices that you’re discussing. McKensey is not just back flexing and McGill doesn’t suggest you should never move your back. They are both subject matter experts with extremely helpful ways to improve bad back situations.

I’ve studied both methodologies extensively. In both cases when we look at the peer reviewed research they don’t hold up. Also, you’re calling me out but don’t even spell McKenzie correctly? I’ve read their books, interned under certified doctors, and even personally interviewed Dr. McGill. If you disagree with something I said, please form an argument.

I am 4 years past 1st surgery. Now it has definitely either re-herniated or another disc poped. In the gym. How? Deadlifts. My physio was saying same as you - do squats, deadlifts etc. And I was. Building up the weights over one year, 5 sessions a week. I am 99kg, was deadlifting 70kg. My physio next to me. “Perfect form”. Pop. Pain. I am super active all my life and today I can’t sit/stand or even lay down without pain. I can’t get 7 hours of sleep as it hurts a lot 🤷🏻‍♂️ Exercising irritates the nerve and makes it worse. By a lot. Do not listen to anyone telling you to do deadlifts with fcked discs. So don’t listen to this guy as well.

I’m really sorry to hear you’re in pain and re injured. I know how frustrating it can be. I’ve been there. That said I’d be REALLY curious to speak with you in depth about everything that was going on around that time because by the sound of it, the cause might not be as cut-and-dry as you think. The deadlifts may not be entirely to blame. Often time there are other factors, especially when you had a LONG track record of deadlifting pain free and then out of nowhere it pops? The deadlift didn’t change, right? So then how can we blame the deadlift? Perhaps the body wasn’t recovered properly or it was under a great deal of addition stresses and so what would have been an acceptable amount of exercise turned out to be too much due to overtraining or under-recovery. There are a million other factors, and we’d need the full picture to really come to any meaningful conclusions here.

I totally agree! You can try to perfect the movement again without just bodyweight and only max out at your groceries.. to practice overall tension/coordination of the movement.. but hell no to the weights in most cases if you want to go for quality longlivity. So yes.. do not listen to this guy either.. he is still very confused with a lot of things.. infact people should sue him

I made my sciatica worse by hanging on a bar with 40kg hanging down from my waist. But the pain didn't last as long as the first time. I took Ibuprofen and it's almost back to where it was before this workout

Great informative video. I’ve gotten sciatica several times over the years but this latest episode was different. It’s started as my right foot became numb and a week later it creeped into my lower back / hip area. The weird thing is the lower back pain is minimal it’s more so dealing with the numb foot. I did get a MRI and I have a herniated disc at L4/L5. I’ve been periodically taking prednisone for a different issue twice a week and every time I took it the numbness would go away, so, I’m assuming there’s a lot of inflammation/ swelling by the nerve?

Before the disc herniation I had a bit of a dropped foot (noticeable only because I hike a lot and I notice I bang the same toe all the time) and some self perceived weakness. Disc herniation hasn’t make those worst. Ive had sciatice pain for 7 months. The last couple of weeks Ive been feeling better. What are your thoughts here?

Thanks for this great video, which enlightens me to do more exercise while having low back pain. Nordic curl is a good exercise to strenthen the knees and hamstring. But would nordic curl make sciatica worse or better?

I found that i can swim laps without pain. I can also do the horse stance and sit in a deep squat without pain. Slight bending of the back aggravates the nerve yet swimming does not.

Deadlifts or sqats are a big no no when dealing with sciatica. Forget about them for some time in order to fully heal.
@ShapeshiftWellness
@ShapeshiftWellness 6 месяцев назад
This depends on how far along a person is in their rehab. The goal should be to slowly work towards being able to squat and deadlift again in a way that doesn't severely aggravate the nerve. Trust me there are ways to make this happen and regain a person's strength without much pain.

So I got mri and it didn't show much. So now the dr is saying myofascial back pain . It's been 2 months and I have centralization but man it kills. Any ideas? All mri shows is sacralized l5 narrowing of l5s1 hypoplastic disc. Such lower back pain. It was down my leg but now it's just lower back. Will this heal ever?

Hello, I have a question regarding core engagement. I just recently had a microdiscectomy (5 days ago). And I had previously learnt how to engage my transverse abdominals correctly. My core is at its strongest it’s ever been and have learnt how to engage pretty much all the muscles around my torso (obliques, rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques). I wanted to know how much I should be engaging my core at this time and if there is any danger in engagement at all? I was worried I would put too much compression on my lower back by too much engagement. . Or is it good that I am engaged, I’ve heard it supports your back like a internal corset. Could you advise please?

This research showed that electrical stimulation can help in cases of severe nerve damage, but that if possible, real exercise is better.

That's a tough situation that requires 1-on-1 consultation. Make sure your local doctor has done a thorough history and exam, and that you've followed up with the surgeon on progress. I can't offer advice on something like this in this setting.

What is lumbar canal stenosis How to heal naturally please tell
@ShapeshiftWellness
@ShapeshiftWellness 2 месяца назад
Canal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal and should be discussed with your doctor to rule out cauda equina which is one of the only super important red flags we all need to watch out for in back pain and sciatica. This is super rare, but again this is a conversation for you and your local doctor first, to get the green light for exercise. As long as people are cleared for a natural approach, there's a lot we can do, and I outline it all in the masterclass in the description of my videos.

Everyone thinks there’s some magic exercise out there, but there isn’t. Real rehab is matching the exercise to the individual, given their unique condition, stage of rehab, and goals. If I gave specific exercises, it would just add to the confusion. Rehab is just graded exposure.
