Best Way to Make an ATV Haul 2 People... or a Dog! 

We called ours the Sweet Seat. We also added flat metal brackets with foot rests I got off an old retired school bus from a junk yard. it made riding in pack so much more comfortable.

Would say toss the wing nuts and put in nylock, and then put a cheap spanner in there, unless there is one already in the ATV tool kit. Then trim the excess thread away, and take off and weld the U bolt to the frame with a small weld, so that it does not come off, though I doubt you will ever want to take it off any way. The nylock will keep it from vibrating, though i would also take a length of foam weatherstrip, and run it on the steel wherever it touches that plastic, it will not rattle at all then. Paint the U bolts as well, and inside the bin where that hardware is, and use rubberising to make them smoother and no sharp edges.

What about flipping the u bolts over and having the nuts in the underside?
