Nice video. This is one of the ways I disassemble pallets. The method I use depends on the type of wood, thickness, age & general condition. The little scraps are great for kindling. They burn hot & easy to start. Stay safe, Joe Z

A step wedge works great. I haven’t seen anyone use one except me. 😁👍 great video you made. I made a cool pallet wood wall in my shop. It’s on my channel. Just throwing that out there 😁👍

I use a reciprocating saw and cut the nails then use a nail set and just push the heads out. That way I can have those old nail holes that gives that rustic reclaimed feel.

Those American pallets are great for making coat hangers with a shelf on top.

What's the moisture content in that wood? Good enough for projects?

You can use what we called a demo saw. It’s a bigger saw that’s made in a straight line. Anyplace that sells power equipment like she has sells them. Then you need a bi-metal blade and you just cut down following the line where they are nailed together and you will cut right through the nails. Then you just have to be careful and avoid nails or pound them out, whatever you choose to do. On the crosspieces a punch will usually knock the nail head right out from the backside of the board.

Look for a second hand crowbar. I have several that I bought from auctions and garage sales, they work great. If buying new the estwing I beam can't be beat for smaller work.

i do it the same way but scrap the middle pieces on the end. i dont bother with the effort.

Crowbar to pry the boards apart would have worked better than the hammer . . . More leverage. Same with pulling nails.

I only watched this because she is very pretty. OK, not the only reason. There is something to be said about attractive women with power tools. Great investment with the camera and audio equipment. The video work was done very well. For a newbie in woodworking, she did a great job.

That is not wedging .....it's prying (near to or the same as, Aristotle's lever.) Different physical principals, but a useful mathematical force multiplier just the same.

The way you do is inefficient. I take a 2x4 a little taller than the pallet is and place under the board you are trying to get off. It raises the pallet off the ground by a couple inches. Take a sledge hammer and hit the cross piece close to the board you are trying to get off. It raises the board up high enough to get a pry bar uner the board to get it off. This way can use the whole board not just part of it.
