Joined today and needed to say this. Nailed it with the nostalgic motivation. I am turning 40 this year and recently felt like a strong nostalgia tour was in my future. Currently growing some White Rhino, Afghan, Blueberry and Northern Lights. More old school strains planned, but finding legitimate strains is way more of a challenge than I anticipated. I'll keep at it but also a shameless video topic request. Cheers gents.
When you smoke for your own tastes rather than commercial market tastes, you pick much different selections. My early 90's-2000's legacy private stock and special cuts would never go over in a commercial setting, which I am very happy about. I still have beans from an old pre-96 Grapefruit/C99 Sour D line, and it yields like crap. The old seed breeders booklets are like a legacy unicorn. Hand written notes on a photocopier! D.I.Y. Baby!
I agree. I have a big selection of landrace strain and pre 80s strains I been collecting for 2 years now. I also journal all my plants if I never grown them. It is helps if I need reference on anything that might come up durning my current grows.

i still think late 80into late 90;s was the best weed not sure why but i always got so baked you smoked a joint with 3 other people pinner;s and you all got high now its smoke a gram joint alone and get high its not the same now

you know what I think the weed now granted I am jaded I grew up in Maui well I lived there for 4 yrs with my uncle who grew had a under ground natural light greenhouse . so I learned how to grow every am and pm I worked in the greenhouse so this is the deal in the 80s they were on it busting growers in Maui twice a year the copters would come out followed by the crown vics so they started breeding the funk out of the weed so u could not smell it as much . I would smell our plants a 1?2 mile like 5blocks or more when i walked home from school weed today gets u high once or twice and in the wake bake sessions then u got to smoke a different strain back in the day u got high as fuck every time the messed around and lost something . now every dude is a mad breeder and the fuck around give each-other awards and pod cast talking shit I am 50yrs old have been growing for 45 yrs tough and been growing the same two strains have no idea what there names are but u can wrap in two bags stick anywhere and u can smell it one is kindbud one is indica

* I have a question for anyone who cares to answer... How did a strain that was only 20% sativa win best sativa in the 2024 AWC? Apricot Auto won 1st place, but was it in the correct category being only 20%? I have asked FB's but they have not answered me, I am sure it is killer bud but it is 80% indica. Perhaps the leaves look more sativa?? It doesn't add up to me...
As a small scale grower and breeder i love variety even in say a pack of 5 ideally i would like 3 different phenotypes min in that pack i enjoy different flavor and effects and ease of growth those are number 1 2 and 3 for me i would rather have those qualities then yeild or it being a fast finishing or colorful to me those are bonuses and are cool traits but i need it to do the job and taste good. Also i think some breeders just cross stuff and put it out which for me i dont sell a single seed until ive ran it a few year's and ive had a few people in different states and professionals and new growers alike so i can continue the line with the traits i want aswell as others
I also never rename something and if it's 4 varieties that have been crossed then I write them out I really hate when I get a random name i go to the breeders description and there is no info on lineage that's super dumb especially bc people will inevitably use in a cross and not knowing the genetics is problematic

I have G13 from around that time period, grew it out in 2020 and it was the dankest smelling stuff I ever grew. So strong I really could not handle it. But not my fav.
Ive only run one type of gentetics so far...mephisto and they sre autos. I would love to grow something that had A profile that was like the blueberry muffin or emergen-c(terps so crazy it smells and taste like the real thing) anyone have anything to recommend that would be good to grow in a 3x3
@@scottclark0326 there are so many, you should do some extensive research and understand what you're lookin for... but if you're looking for the best candy stuff, look no further than Z(kittlez), candy fumez or rainbow belts are two of the absolute best choices you have, thats the stuff that wins every cup it enters. Have fun :) and most of all, genetics is the most important thing when growing, so always go the original breeder or someone with a good rep anyway. Candy fumez and tmz (z x candy fumez) hybrids are from bloom seed co and Boston roots seed co for example, Rainbow belts is from archive originally but there are many good crosses from other people too. 1.0/2.0 is the best. Just bought me some blue lime pie from sincity (spannabis 2019 best indica) and a couple crosses from pheno addicts, a yellow zushi/runtz cross (blue zushi probably being the most widely considered as the best tasting strain in the world atm, yellow zushi is the sister pheno and yellow crosses came out tastier in this specific lineup. Runtz is strain of the year 2020), and a verzace aka twerkquake cross (1st place best terps/2nd place best overall at last year's cali Zalympix, blue zushi won 1st place best tasting and best overall instead) with permanent marker (strain of the year 2023). There's some blue zushi crosses coming out soon, like blue zushi x twerkquake too, which means 1st best overall x 2nd best overall, 1st place best flavor x 1st place best terps... I wouldnt miss the opportunity ;) either way there's plenty of fire. Just look for crosses of these ones from these legit people. Also, autoflowers will never give you those flavors and highs, ditch them!! They're absolutely a waste

GG4 is gas? I ain’t had small batch GG4 so maybe there but ain’t had no gas outta GG4 in Michigan or Washington DC dispos. I’ll leave it specific to that and if I’ve even had GG4 cuz maybe the ish was white labeled. Don’t think it was but maybe. Hard hitter and the best for narcotic pain relief but I ain’t get gas. Got that pure chocolate earth. It has a hard pull that expands and the narcotic effect but it isn’t the gas terps. Can someone send me some gassy GG4?
GMO x Mimosa doesn’t sound good at all. Maybe it’s one of those off ones thats fire. I definitely like Mimosa Alone but not really tryin to add anything to it. Are there other fire Mimosa crosses? Obviously there’s plenty of GMO crosses.
"genetic drift" is a real scientific term and doesnt have anything to do with cloning. it's about populations, not individuals. it's the random change in allele frequency within a population attributable to random chance - as opposed to selection, natural or artificial
Has anyone ever had weed that taste like puke /spew well i had blueberry strain with puke on the exhale absolutely one of the best flavours i have tasted in my 18 years of smoking now all i get is suttle puke taste in certain strains but never that blueberry puke this was about 5 years ago
First time i tried AK47 i smoked a small bowl for 10 minutes after my coughing my way thru about 14 hits and did not feel high at all , yet i felt like a soft ear muff was on my temples and soon afterward a slow creeping high kept building and i was there watching lightning bugs in my back yard after 20 minutes . Honestly i do not care for smelling or tasting weed . Tobacco companies are not selling different flavors of cigarettes ! Cannabis smokers are getting weird around here on the tube . Do a real review .
Perfect place to get this on the record…….there’s very very very did I mention very few true candy gas strains. It’s why it’s hunted so much because it’s so damn rare and most the plants that are that are quite difficult to grow as are some of the historical gassy ones have been. A lot of strains purported to be candy are floral. They don’t finish sweet if they had any sweetened it’s a hint at the beginning then goes quickly to floral most of the time but there’s the spice/soap types there too but they are far from candy and the gas is also times there but a real reach to call it candy gas. This is gonna get interesting because there’s a lot of pure cap in this landscape right now. From the White Truffff….errrrrrr Gorilla Butter grift to pheno hunters turn S1 bean slangers of cuts at least named exact the same so you can see that grift but it’s a grift no less. This is gonna be interesting to see stuff this year.
The trend I'm seeing is to nasty flavors - cat piss, barf, stanky socks.....those are not for me, my fave this year was a stunning 6% terp Lilac Diesel - EPIC!
