but what he didn't tell you, is that his cars windscreen has been detailed, in other words, its been clay barred then a coat of polish/wax has been applied to the glass, that's what gave it a smear clean wipe, so its not the wiper blades that are so good but its the condition of how clean the glass was prior to fitting these blades.
@JonnyDIY
@JonnyDIY 5 лет назад
Yes a detailed windscreen will further help tremendously. But these wipers really do work the great. The blade style wipers in my opinion are the best, no matter what brand. These just last longer than the plain rubber ones. I have some bosch blade style ones that work great too. @@JonnyDIY I like the blade style simply because it is a lot more winter friendly. The older style of wipers can get ice to freeze in the joints, and then the wipers lose almost all connectivity to the screen and they stop working entirely. A big pain in the arse.

Silicone coated lol, dude are you serious? Think about it how long would that last? If you want to provide value in the information that you are putting out there then do your research first! For those interested these are 100% silicone and not silicone coated my worry with these is whether or not they would lift at high speed on the freeway or in windy weather, might be of value to some people if you could have demonstrated that.
@JonnyDIY
@JonnyDIY 5 лет назад
Thanks Rob. Theyre pretty heavy blades that keep tight to windshield. I havent had any issue with lift. No trouble on freeway. Ill try and update next time its windy.
@lanfan1464
@lanfan1464 5 лет назад
Silicone blades are nothing new. They just don't sell them in the stores, because they last way too long. Some of them are silicone coated. Again, that is a stupid idea, but they love it. PIAA silicone wiper blades are expensive in my opinion. Just buy the refills somewhere else. Beam and hybrid blades don't lift up when it is windy.
@azndrgnboi34
@azndrgnboi34 5 лет назад
@Rob a little research from the manufacturer I discovered that @Jonny DIY is NOT entirely wrong when he mentioned "Silicon Coated". According to the manufacturer they state: The PIAA Si-Tech (Silicone Technology) Flat Wiper Blade, a modern, frameless design that delivers all-season performance, thanks to PIAA’s patented silicone impregnated rubber blades. The key to the PIAA Si-Tech’s performance is its frameless design that creates more pressure points across the entire length of the blade for streak-free wiping. Moreover, the design eliminates snow and ice build-up. It is heat and ozone resistant, and its silicone rubber continually reapplies an active silicone coating on the windshield, assuring streak-free, quiet operation. The Technology applies a "active silicone coating on the windshield." They are also designed for "All Season Performance." Regarding lifting, in any harsh weather situations you may see lifting with ANY windshield wipers. I even seen some lifting with my OEM wipers on a very windy day. Also, this design is almost standard amongst all major car manufacturers like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi to name a few. I don't think you will have any issues other than what you are experiencing now with your OEM wipers. Just my 2 cents. Thanks.

@@azndrgnboi34 I also had a look on PIAA website and its a bit confusing because as you say it does say "impregnated rubber" but that's not coated I think if it was coated then it would break up fairly quickly but somewhere else on the PIAA website its says... "PIAA's Silicone Wiper is a massive leap forward in wiper blades and one of the first with a "100% silicone wiper blade" Unlike some competitors products, PIAA's is 100% silicone and "not just coated to the wiping edge" I might email them and see if they can clarify, silicone coated seems like a stupid idea I just can't see that lasting, I can't make up my mind on these wipers because you get the beading on a wet windscreen and I don't like that, I prefer it to be clear but maybe its a small compromise for longer lasting wipers.

Haha yep California it is! Doesn't rain a ton but still go thru a set every year and these have worked great so far this year. No noise or chatter. I mean all the high end blades usually work great, but these Silicone ones should hold up longer than standard rubber variety. Ill update.

I live in Western NY and between our plentiful rain in the warmer months, and ice and snow in the winter, typically we have to change our blades once or twice a year. I put a pair of these on my Malibu when I first got it as the factory blades got toasted pretty quickly. The silicone blades lasted the entire 3 years I had the car. The factory blades on my new Forester are almost trash already so I'm planning on doing the same for my current vehicle.

have you guys tried burning the strip with a lighter for a few seconds? they say silicone won't burn but since its mixed with rubber it will probably burn if you keep it lit too long. I tried these chinese "silicone" wipers from amazon. the seller said its silicone and suggested i burn it with a lighter to prove its silicone. it burned soon as the flame touched it. less than a second. and the bracket melted too. pretty sure this is just silicone coated. I just wanna know if these PIAA silicones are worth spending 2x the chinese brand or if they're all the same silicone gimmick.
