I'm not convinced most pen-style machines are actually sanitary, and I'm confident that if devices such as these were made available for use in the medical field they'd be very quicky banned. Not all of them are like that, though. It would be nice to see a comparison done on hygiene between different pens. With criteria like the extent to which they can be disassembled, whether or not the drive mechanism can be autoclaved, whether or not the brand has available disposable grips, etc. That seems like the most important shootout one could do, because safety should be the top priority.
id assume sanitation essentially falls on the one using them no? cuz they have disposable condoms for them you use to wrap when in use on live flesh, plus the needles are already sanitized and also disposable. sure beats a wire if you ask me and offers more flexibility too
@@aciduck1027the wrap doesn’t cover the tip completely, and should be used even on fake skin btw, & sterilized needles don’t have anything to do with potential back flow into the machine. Membranes help this but ink still gets on/in the machine, & if the grip isn’t disposable or autoclave-able, that’s how cross contamination happens. With bios like plasma & blood in the dirty ink, you’d be putting dirty blood in other people.
@@aciduck1027 a lot of the pen style machines don’t offer disposable grips. None of the machines she showed aside from one have a disposable grip option -if I’m not mistaken. & cold sterilization where you can do so isn’t enough for a machine, & they’re are not autoclavable
Love your videos, i'm new in this game and got some good old ones, but i want a wireless at some point så this video gave me a hint. But i think i will start with some cheap chineese stuff just to get the feeling and learn, and then when i'm ready going for some better equipment. Keep up the good videoes
I've heard of the drive bar breaking for people. Any issues so far? I'm thinking of getting one. Seems like a better option than the typical adjustable swash-drive pen style rotaries. Direct drives are definitely the way to go IMO.
Great work Floaty. I was going to ask you if you still considered the V12 your favorite and boom, you answered it with this video. I have the V12 as well and like not only the saturation but the smoothness and quiet. How much importance do you put on those qualities as well as battery life? Will be interesting to revisit this in a year to assess the durability of these machines. Have you tried the Neuma 4 machines as a high end alternative?
That’s awesome! Smoothness/low vibration/quiet and saturation as well as ergonomics are my main factors I judging a machine. Battery life is jot really an issue for me as most of the time I prefer to run wired on my Muso Toku, I like the balance of the machine better without a battery on the back. That being said when I do run wireless battery life is not much of an issue as long as something can run at least 4 hours straight, which pretty much every battery can. For full day sessions I almost always take a break at around the 4 hour mark, in which case I can charge/switch the battery. I have the Neuma 4 and used it for over a year, it is a great and unique machine but ultimately it vibrates a bit, is very noisy, and changing the strokes is not as convenient/clean as the V12.
I've been using V12 for around 6-7 months now. Battery life is really good. I've made a sleeve with it without having to charge (I rarely go past 7.5 volts though), since I forgot to charge in between sessions. Lol
Personally I find the Ambition Soldier Max the best. It is under 200 bucks. Has a 4.2 stroke, comes with a extra 4.0 cam if you wanna switch… lines like a beast, shades like a champ,
Any of the adjustable stroke machines in this video are great for both lining and shading, Lately my favorite machine for both has been the Dragonhawk Fold Pro 2024: Available with 10% Discount Code: floatytattoo dragonhawkofficial.com/all-products/tattoo-kits/professional-tattoo-kits/tattoo-kit-dragonhawk-fold-pro-year-of-dragon-edition-rotary-tattoo-machine-pen-wireless-professional-bundle/ref/153/
Personally stuck between buying the Ambition Seher, Ambition Mars-u, and the Wormhole Pro Orion. Which machine would you recommend? I noticed you didn't mention the Ambition machines.
Do you like to use the police liners, on human skin too? Or do you use the inkclaw instead? I love the police liners, but sometimes it feels like the x-long taper is doing to much penetration damage, so I line with Quelle or kwadron.
I do use the police liners quite a bit on my clients, you are right though since they are only x-long taper I do like to use InkClaw for when I don’t want the long taper, InkClaw is really great in that they offer liners in every taper, very versatile needles.
I’ve always been told when pulling a line or whip shading with a mag. To pull the line in the direction of the window on the cartridge. Is that just specifically for needle and bar setups used traditionally?
@@wayneschroeder9166 it is true for most direct drive and needle on bar machine types. With some swash plates/adjustable stroke machines you can go at more angles and around curves. Some machines are better at this than others.
😱😲 ok me sorprendió la Wormhole , creo que fué una de las mejores que probaste se ve mas oscura la tinta bien definida y la transición de sombras es muy buena
Bishop power wands are the best imo, I’ve used pretty much everything on the market and I use the power wand packer for everything now. Love the neuma 5 and axys Valhalla and Cheyenne etc but nothing compares to my bishops.
I do love my Bishop Liner Wand for running larger needle groupings. I ended up selling my Packer Wand though, it seems extremely over priced for how weak the motor is compared to the machines I've put in this video as my top picks, not the most stable for lining either. If they could get the vibration down in the Neuma system I would consider going back, have you used the Neuma 4 vs the 5, is there less vibration with the new spring system?
Do you have the mast A1 got it on a special deal for only 95€ on Amazon and I love it. 5-12v and adjustable length and has like a adjustable stroke and non stroke
The new Dragonhawk Fold Pro 2024: Available with 10% Discount Code: floatytattoo dragonhawkofficial.com/all-products/tattoo-kits/professional-tattoo-kits/tattoo-kit-dragonhawk-fold-pro-year-of-dragon-edition-rotary-tattoo-machine-pen-wireless-professional-bundle/ref/153/
Hey I was just wondering if you have had the chance to try out the javelin trident machine because I’m thinking about buying it but can’t find any videos on it
Hola 👋🏻 me gustaria que me recomendaras la que tenga mayor fuerza para hacer lineas gruesas con RS tradicional , quiero una que golpee como las de bobinas 😞
@@FloatyTattoo ok...verry nice...i have a Cheyenne Sol Nova Unlimited 3.5mm Stroke and a Fold Pro as Substitude to 4.2mm Stroke...i wish you a good Night...take care ✌🏽
Say what you’d like but I like coil… I do love the idea of the convenience of swapping needles with carts but that’s a grip conversion with a coil. I just don’t like the dildo shape of the new pens these days. Coils just work better and look cooler.
To each their own, if you like coils you like coils. It reminds me of that old story about when Ernest Hemingway asked Ansel Adams what camera he uses to make those beautiful photos. Adams replied "What pencil do you use to write those wonderful stories?"
@@FloatyTattoo nah your 100% correct and I don’t mean to sound like I’m putting down one over the other. Really if it works it works. Amazon tribes tattoo with sticks and thorns and it turns out wicked. At the end of the day is a sharp tip going into the skin with ink
No onexreally explains why so many tattooists use fat grips. I feel like it makes you draw like a caveman. Is there a reason you know of? Theres literalluly no videos on fat grips vs skinny grips, n why
What I have noticed it is usually older tattoo artists who have primarily been using coil machines which vibrate quite a bit causing carpal tunnel over time. With CT it is harder to grip smaller things so the grips get bigger to compensate. Some people also just have very big hands.
@@FloatyTattoo oh ok...that makes sense. I just use to tattooin in the joint n we use mechanical pencils n guitar string..the feel is like using a pen. Do you have any videos explaining how to compensate for shading needles having room to kinda wiggle? Is this maybe dependant on how i put the needle in the machine? Seems like theres a front n back. Also not an issue with guitar strings lol
What do you think about the EZ p3 pro? I don’t know if i get one, or maybe the Bronc V12, help 🥲 i like to work mostly with fine line, and full black. Thank you for this reviews ❤ greetings from Mexico
I have not tried the p3 pro but it looks like a decent machine. My top recommendation now is the Dragonhawk Fold Pro 2024, it just beats the V12 by a little bit.
