As a travel agency owner I would agree with your assessment of Nassau. It’s such a terribly dangerous place. I agree as well with the St Marteen assessment it’s a wonderful place with beautiful, wonderful and friendly people !! Lastly I would add Aruba to the wonderful list !

My first cruise was to the Bahamas and my mom and my friends mom (who I was going with) kept me up to date about raising crime in Nassau which was on the schedule. Basically when we got their my friends parents and my friend and I went to the fenced part of Nassau to buy a few things and to walk around. While there we had people practically following us, asking if we wanted a tour or if we wanted our hair braided. We either said no or ignored them and went straight back to the ship. We got our pictures of each other and the ships that also docked. It was pretty to look at. Edit: again if you have an organized excursion totally safe but I agree I didn't feel comfortable.

One of our favourites was Cadiz Spain. Architecture, astounding gardens, Ocean on three sides, Roman ruins....was a stop on an NCL trans-Atlantic. Didn't know anything about it so it was a great surprise. Just walked all day. You dock right in the port too so you are right there.

Just got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise that had Roatan as port of call. We booked a Snuba excursion (on our own) about 20 minutes from the ship and felt 100 % safe. We did Costa Maya, Conzumel , Roatan and Bahamas and our favorite was Roatan, Honduras. We loved how lively it felt when we arrived, how warm and inviting people were. The views from mountain tops were breath taking. I think you may be confused with mainland Honduras, the island of Roatan is almost its own "country".

I really loved Kotor in Montenegro, Europe. It starts by sailing in the bay with breathtaking views. I do regret having only a small amount of time but the 3,5 hrs i could spend there where amazing. I visited the old town with its building structures from the 17th century. Loved the atmosphere while drinking something on a terrace. With more time i would climb the hill to an old fortress.

100% Agree with you on Nassau. We always stay on board the ship too-that's our Spa/Rain Forrest Room day 😊 (we cruise on DCL-not sure if other lines have a Rain Forrest Room equivalent).

I’ve not been to the main port in Roatan, but the Mahogany Bay port that Carnival uses is quite nice with a free beach right there.

i had the same opinion of Nassau. During our last visit in November 2019 my opinion changed, We walked to Junkanoo public beach and had a great time. We took a taxi back to the port.

I did the same thing, Junkanoo Beach, had a massage right on the beach, walked to the Queen's Staircase, and happened to watch the procession of opening of day of the Bahamian parliament which was interesting to see

Great video. I agree with you about Nassau and how aggressive the workers were there. After our snorkeling excursion and lunch on the boat we had close to 3 hours before all aboard so we allotted 2 hours to make sure we were on board in plenty of time but it took less than an hour and we had enough. I don't think people should be discouraged from cruising here because there are some great excursions and the boat is always a great place to hang out.

Agree with Nassau, our latest trip we did get off and made our way through the hustle and bustle and carried on walking right, which takes you to a beach area if anyone is interested :) just be careful of the uneven paths, busy roads :) great vid guys x

Hi guys, you should try a cruise to Bermuda. The island is very safe, clean and friendly! We have been there 4 times over the years and it never disappoints us! We cruised on the NCL Breakaway from NYC but there are several other cruise lines going there :)

I love Nassau. All cruises alert of high criminality but so far I feel really comfortable walking through town on my own. Of course, as in any other place, you have to exercise common sense.

I completely agree with you two about Nassau Bahamas. We just returned from a cruise to the Bahamas. On the day we arrived at Nassau we noticed that the majority of our fellow cruisers were staying on the ship at the Nassau port. It was my first time to Nassau so I wanted to check it out. Once we got off the ship and entered the town we were accosted by multiple people selling items, hair braiders, taxi drivers, ect....all yelling at us to buy something from them. When we politely said no thank you, most people just continued to heckle us or passed us by to heckle other cruiser but some people cursed at us tourests. After awhile we just had to ignore them. It was a very stressful experience. We only stayed in Nassau for about an hour because it was like we couldn't get away from all the hecklers to just enjoy the trip. I understand now why so many of our fellow cruisers just stayed on the ship.

thanks for the info guys, We were just in Cozumel, did not like it I thought it to be dirty, also about Nassau first couple of times were fine but it seems there are just too many cruise to that place. The last time we were in Nassau we did the para-sailing excursion, which was a lot of fun, I think that if we do cruise there again we will remain on the ship. I do have to agree with you about St. Maarten. Beautiful place , we also really enjoyed Jamaica.

We did the River Falls in Jamaca which was great. We didn't stay around the port much in Cozumel but had a fantastic day at a nearby resort.

Nassau is an easy and free beach day at Junkanoo Beach right by the Port. Roatan has some amazing snorkeling.

I meant to say, Costa Maya, Mexico was a terrible cruise port. Nothing to do but take a 2 hour bus ride to the ruins. There is shopping but it is aggressive and crowded. They have dolphins kept in a small area and people ride them. It was horrific to see.

Loved Oslo (Norway) - docked downtown - a fort outside our balcony - Viking museum was terrific - two unexpected events (1) international cigarette boat championship, best location was onboard (2) migration of jellyfish, it went on for over an hour when leaving port!

My two favourite ports are Sydney, Australia and Isle of Pines, New Caledonia! Sydney is full of culture, beautiful spots, awesome sights, and great shopping. Plus the ship sails straight into the city and you can walk two minutes and you are in the CBD. The Isle of Pines is absolutely beautiful! I think that it is so much nicer than most Caribbean ports. The snorkelling is amazing and the nature is incredible!

We did a in Roatan through Trip Advisor. There were armed guards. But we did the tour and then we walked around which was scary. Love Barbados- hubby from there been many times for land vacations. Love Bequia. Thank you for this video. St. Lucia is also gorgeous

I've been to the port in Nassau on a cruise, and several times while staying at hotels, and never have I had trouble or felt unsafe. It's clean and there are things to do. People are great and not pushy. I've even taken the local bus from my hotels to spend the day in the downtown area (the straw market, etc) and it was great. I just don't want you to discourage people from going there and I totally disagree with your comments. PS love you both!

General rule of thumb is that if you hang around the Downtown area where there is more police presence you'll be fine: use common sense and don't go off with a tour you didn't research and book ahead of time, don't accept rides from someone who's not driving a real taxi, and such. It's naive people who head inland to find the "real Nassau" who tend to get into trouble.

We are going on an NCL cruise in June which was supposed to stop in Nassau. They cancelled that port in favor of Great Stirrup cay. I am fine with that because I don't want to have t worry about anything on vacation. We have been to Roatan twice. Each time we took an organized tour and had an exceptionally good time. Thank you for all your information. I love your videos & recommend them to family & friends all the time.

I went to roatan on a cruise in December. We went to play golf at a resort. To get to and from the resort, we booked a private driver after doing a lot of research. Our driver was local and said that most of what you hear about Honduras is about the main land and that he doesn't even go there because of the safety problems. On the island though, we never felt unsafe.

I landed in ST. Maarten this January 2019.. the damage was definitively big.. very big. there were areas where id say.. at least 50% of the houses were rofless or demolished. Quite the change compared to the first time went in 2016. It was hearbreaking to get to the small beach before Marigot(the submarine excursion) . Only 5 restaurants were open, 7 were rebuilding and more than 50 were demolished.

Agree with you on all the ports. Barcelona is my ultimate favorite! But need to add Naples to the negative port as it’s so dirty and smelly that it’s difficult to enjoy the beautiful architecture. I typically take a boat to Capri as it’s more enjoyable for us.

Were going to cruise for the first time in June on the MSC Seaview in the western Mediterranean!! This was very helpful already, but do you have any recommendations on bus companies for Rome? Being from Southern California and having travelled on 5 cruises, I have to say my favorite port is probably The Port of Long Beach right here. It is very close to the city of Long Beach and next to The Historic Queen Mary.

We were with princess cruises and were at Mahogany Bay ..a nice place did drive to another beach ..lots of security around but was nice. Wouldn't really want to walk around outside of the area though.

My first cruise I'm going on goes to the Bahamas. It's was the most cost effective. I hope it's not that bad. I booked excursions with RC so. But we go to Perfect Day twice, so hope that makes up for it.

I booked an excursion in Roatan and when we got in the vehicle, my husband and I were like, what are we doing? But it went great, zipline adventure was fantastic! Glad we did it but probably won't do an excursion in Roatan again. Favorite ports so far are Cabo, Naples, and Grand Cayman. All easily accessible to get off the ship and walk around. Fortaleza and Natal, Brazil, are quite dirty and not too safe. They are fuel stops for the cruise lines. The organized tours by the ships are the best way to go.

I absolutely LOVE Tallinn Estonia as a place to visit. The pier is a very short walk to Old Town. Amazing history, some fantastic shopping along the old city wall. And don't get me started on the foods! A little secret, if you want some good drink for a great price, find a little locals bar in Old Town that is called Karja Kelder. The last time I was there (2017) you could get a burger, fries and a beer for less than €10! They offer all sorts of foods and beers as well as ciders.

@@Cruisewith I enjoy going to the super market and getting local foods to try. The last time I did that, I found some bread with meat and cheese baked inside it. One of those along with a cider and some fresh fruit made for a wonderful lunch.

You are very correct about Nassau. Best to do an excursion or stay on ship. I walked the shopping area and the people they you have to walk by to get to the shop street are terrible and nasty. Then the shops are overpriced and borish.

Nassau Bahamas has a wonderful People-to-People program that is complimentary. A year round program by the Bahamian Ministry of Tourism, a local gives you a private tour of the Island based on your interests. You have not truly seen Nassau until you experience it with a local.

Great video so glad you mentioned Valletta as one of the favourites, it is beautiful and easy to get around even if you take the lift up to the upper Barrakka it is very cheap also, and if you ever come Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 it too is a beautiful port right in the heart of Sydney with public transport to many great places 🇦🇺🇲🇹🚢💞

Cruise with Ben & David you will love it if you were. To come here, sailing in and out of Sydney Australia is so beautiful and the harbour is so easy to get around on the Sydney ferry’s to other locations around the harbour but you probably need to spend some time to explore and then maybe go on a cruise that sails out of Sydney to the Pacific Islands or New Zealand sometimes you can get some great bargains on these destinations, hope you can fulfill this someday you are both still young so you have time on your side 🇦🇺🚢💕

Had a great time ziplining in Roatan, and had a fantastic lunch at a restaurant on a hill just outside the port. Like another commentator said, you might be attributing mainland Honduras crime to Roatan, which would not be accurate.

I recently returned from a cruise and found Nassau to be a bit rundown and difficult to get to the beach. Some of our cruisegoers mentioned traveling 30 minutes or longer to get to a beach ON FOOT

Barcelona, Valetta, Villefranche, Bergin and Geiranger are my favourites so far. My least favourites are Civitavecchia, Albania, Livonia and I was very disappointed with Athens.

in nassau take a private excursion from the ship. the beaches are breathtaking. there is a reason american celebrities have homes there. ive been to rotan too and did a private resort on an organized excursion.

Roatan is perfectly safe. I think you are confused by the crime on Honduras mainland, but Roatan is an island off the coast. Also, if you cruise with Carnival their port has a great private area that makes for a great beach day.

If you stay in the areas in the vicinity of the cruise docks, Roatan is as safe as anywhere you'll visit. I can't testify about the rest of the island, but I suspect these areas are also fairly safe. At least I've not heard of any serious incidents. The mainland of Honduras, on the other hand ...

If you like snorkeling, great place is Roatan. We use Eco tour, great gays, owner is italian decent. We feel safe and friendly .

You didn't mention Jamaica. We never get off the boat in Jamaica anymore. Unless you are taking a cruise tour, you're basically at risk. The last time we ported there on NCL they ported us at a barge port, not even a cruise port. I don't know why cruise ships keep going there.

I've just got back from the Caribbean on my very first cruise and found Roatan okay. The one I didn't like was Playa de Santo Tomas in Guatamala. This cruise port is within the freight container port so there are constantly honking horns and lorries moving around so if you are on the ship there is no quiet place to chill from the noise of the port, also I wentout on a tour, which I enjoyed but travelling through the area you got a sense that if you where outside the port you wouldn't be safe as all the shops had barred fronts so you never go into the shop but the shop owners fetch your goods and pass them through the bars. On the other hand on the same cruise we visited Belize, okay its not actually a cruise port because you are tendered in but by the end of the day I had fallen in love with the country and at some point wouldn't mind visiting the country for a wildlife holiday as that was the taster I got on the tour I did there.

I could be biased but my home port of Sydney Australia is the best of them all. Hong Kong and Singapore have great ports and I agree with you guys, Barcelona is the best in Europe

For me nassau was safe but for sure both times I went there were really pushy people. I dislike sales pitches in general and don't like telling people no so for my next Bahamian cruise I will probably just pre-book an excursion

Another port that is quite bad, actually really bad is Falmouth Jamaica. Stay on board there! Good tip about the taxis. One of the places you have to be very careful with taxi is Naples Italy... even for me that I speak Italian they try to get us.

The only port review I strongly disagreed with is Roatan. The crime in Roatan is nothing like mainland Honduras and I felt very safe. I visited 3x in 18 months and found it fantastic. It's inexpensive with some of the best snorkeling in the region if not the world. The people were very friendly as well.

Jennifer Schultz hi, just was my opinion of Melbourne, glad you see it differently. it’s just we’ve traveled and cruised into a fair number of ports and I just think Melbourne certainly needs upgrading. I’m a Melbournite through and through, but Sydney’s port for example is divine compared. I just have to say your name has me shocked, I knew a Jennifer Schulz years ago!

Atlantis is literally the coolest water park ever built It’s literally like walking around the idea in your head (when you think of Atlantis) The slide with the sharks at the bottom is quite fun as well Due to cruise timing, we only had a like 4-5 hours But it was one of the best experiences Iv ever had, there are a ton of aquariums with the craziest looking marine life. It’s like walking around a multi billionaires property but with a water park XD
