epiphone makes really really good semi hollows and hollowbodies. gibson stopped making semi hollow and hollows except for 335s. epiphone is really picking up the slack when it comes to that style. i played my friends gibson 335 and then my riviera and the riviera felt and sounded better

2022 seemed to be a blur!!!! Thank you Shane for all your hard work producing (and of course Rhyannon for being a great cameraman 😊). Along with the big named brands that we all love to love and hate, I enjoy when you present lesser known brands,whether its pedals, or a guitar. I recently purchased an absolutely amazing pedal by Sabbadius, the Filmore East Funky Vibe and it is everything I love in boutique gear!! Like Missing Link Audio or Caline, I find that these are the pedals I enjoy playing through and keep wanting to play more. As we get closer to another year, hopefully we can celebrate this channel going way over 200k subscribers!! You do amazing work here Shane and I definitely want to thank you for everything you do!!! I’m a Miami native… you neglected to say that Walt Grace vintage is located in the Wynwood section of Miami Florida. 300 NW 26th St, Miami, FL 33127 … Wynwood is also noted for having fantastic Graffiti art and murals all over the neighborhood. “Wynwood Walls” is a must see! I saw your original episode about Walt Grace and it was excellent. Your viewers really need to look it up and enjoy it! I just stumbled over Walt Grace when I was in the area and I was amazed… beautiful cars and guitars!

Always enjoy your channel - always good content and straightforward presentation. Shame about the SS22 though - mine in almost 5yrs old now - got in late-ish 2018 - and never been a problem. So far, anyway 🤞🙂. It’s a very versatile little amp, but sounds like there may well by QC issues. By the way, have you ever tried any Victory amps?

Did you already have a try with a reverb ? A reverb which could fit on the inside and for an affordable price might be the mosky spring reverb , based on the malekko spring reverb , needs a 9v battery though but should fit inside the pignose

The Silver jubilee has always been such a divisive amp, I never understood it, i think a lot of it was the clipping diodes. People thought it was like a distortion pedal going into the front when the reality is that it's really nothing like that. It's deeper in the circuit and really only comes on when you turn the gain past a certain point, and it results in more gain without the same compression increase. I've been building and servicing amps for 15 years and the Jubilee has been by favorite marshall ever. It's the first one I plugged into, hit an open-A chord and it sounded exactly like you'd think a Marshall should. Usually you have to crank the volume and dial it in, and even then it's just not what you expect, especially with something like a super lead that you need to get to punishingly loud volumes to get there.

G'day Shane, first of all good to get content from a fellow Sinestral! I have something special for you to review, a fellow Aussie, Bryan Williams produces an incredible set of pickups, basically Jimmy 73 MSG tone, which is also very close to early Angus tone. I would love to hear your impressions, and see you help out a fellow convict! I built up a leftie double neck from an el cheapo Cozart with 2 sets of these pups, along with emerson pio's, switchcraft, CTS, Kluson, and necks done to perfection by my luthier Scott Supak. You ever around Springfield Missouri, i have a few Agiles etc for you to test drive, oh, and a beer or ten! Give those pups a try, you won't be sorry, after all, everyone wants to sound like God!

I recently acquired a Chinese ES-335 and it had Blue Rock pickups in it. The only reference that I could find was some single coils built in Australia. Being as how you are from Australia have you heard of or know where I can get info on these pickups? Thanks for your time.

Shane as always, a great video. Glad that you mentioned Michael Kelly guitars - if you have an opportunity to try a Michael Kelly 1953, you will be impressed. Its a Tele style guitar and the quality, craftsmanship and tone are great

MK makes great guitars don't they? I have a 1950s custom (burl burst). Gold hardware and a 4 way selector. Easily better than a Fender that cost more.

@@castleanthrax1833 As you can tell from my YT handle, that I'm a die hard G&L player but I was totally surprised when I bought my Michael Kelly 1953. Not say that they are as good as a G&L but they are exceptionally good guitars and I would point people to buy a Michael Kelly before they buy a Fender. When I bought mine, Sam Ash was selling brand new 1953's as NOS - Used of Reverb for $300 (guitar, tax shipping). Who could pass that up?!?!?

Great video, so many interesting products and so much useful info - thanks so much for putting in all the work that I'm sure making this video required - very professional, well paced, and fun to watch - plus lots of new and interesting information for me to digest! I agree 100% about the underwhelming neck pickup on the 40th Anniversary Squier Telecaster Gold Edition - it really is puzzling how such a well-finished, beautiful and comfortable guitar could include such a muddy and weak neck pickup. As you mentioned, the bridge pickup is very nice. I ended up selling mine (black & gold version), because, although it cost $600, it didn't sound nearly as good as my $150 Squier Bullet Telecaster! Also thanks for recommending the PAL800-V3 GOLD Overdrive pedal. I did not know aboutthis one, but I'm going to get one, based on your recommendation.

@@shuster1921 What don’t you get? Sure, it’s an easy pickup change, but paying for a superior pickup isn't easy, at least not for everyone. And changing a pickup doesn’t explain how Fender could choose to put such an underwhelming neck pickup in a special edition guitar that they produced that is their most expensive Squier model. Nor why the neck pickup on their $150 Squier Bullet Telecaster is far superior.

I've had a Reverend 390 for 10 years now. Very nice guitar. The bass roll off nearly gets you to strat territory.

So, I picked up an EVH 5150 LB this year. I believe Fender are making these. Three times I had to return it. The second time, it came back frome Fender in 'working condition.' I brought it home and got no sound at all. I spoke with an American lad in the shop, who said this is a really common problem with them. Such a shame, as it sounded AMAZING when I first got it.

My amplifier choice I have a lab series l3 L7 and a L5 I put Electrovoice speakers in them and yes I still have the factory speakers but I want some Peavey Black Widows or find some Black shadows but they are Electrovoice speakers also

have a michael kelly vintage patriot and i think your opinion of them is spot on , they punch way above there weight class for fit and finish , they sound and play great to , i own squier's epiphone's firefly's iyv's among others , and as far as build quality go's they don't compare ....

I've had a Supersonic 22 Head for about a decade.Absolutely no issues, into a number of different Fender and Marshall cabs.And I have an original 1987 Silver Jubilee which has the most versatile EQ.

Hi there I found no problem with the supersonic 22 I have the combo quite like the sound of this amplifier and if you would be honest I think every amplifier's got something that's not right thumbs up for the supersonic 22 combo and head I just love the blonde I was looking around for an electric amplifier quite a while and everyone had a reverb or a twin and I thought I'm going to go for something different so I just went for the supersonic and to me there's nothing wrong with it 👍🤔

Same here. Never had a problem with my SS22. It needed to be revalved after a few years, but thats it. Great sounding amp that I foolishly sold. I guess I was just bored... I've got a Marshall 2525c now and its a fantastic amp, but much less forgiving on the player and on guitar type sometimes. But I agree on the Marshall's eq. So flexible. On every other Marshall I've had the only knobs that did anything where the treble, presence and volume knobs. Maybe the mids, a bit. But the Jube is a whole different amp!

That Harley Benton baritone looks like a Moserite and Eastwood side jack and it sounds good I have a Sx station three pickup I gave it to my nephew man that thing is a super strat I thing that the pickups are Fender strats ones

The silver jubelee is known to be great. Slash used this amp (head) a lot and still is I guess.

0000 steel wool or synthetic equivalent clean and polishes the frets and the board for next to nothing. Just oil up when done. If your guitar has magnetic pups just masking tape over them amd the surrounding hole. Tape and a stronger magnet will also make sure to collect any lil metal strays. ** Don't forget these shavings come from the frets too so always take proper precautions!!!

I actually prefer the Epiphone Dot to the 335, as the Dot was sold with genuine rosewood, grover tuning machines and some decent pickups

Epiphones are really unpredictable from run to run. I’ve got an older 339 Pro that has Grover Deluxe tuners, a nice rosewood board, flimsy pots and switch, and totally decent sounding pickups. This year’s 339s have junk tuners and better pots.

@@WillieD7 that is true, my friend got one that he had a ton of issues with, tune stability, scratchy pots, etc. I’m curious about the new LPs because I hear great things but I’m mostly sticking to fender and fender style geeetahs
