I don’t think he’s sticking around tbh. I had high hopes for the kid this offseason before the legal troubles so I’m not sure how much of a chance he’s one of those culture guys they want to have around. I’m still willing to bet he’ll succeed elsewhere.
@AskSeebs If he's no longer gambling, then there shouldn't be any character issues. Depending on how much he's cooperating with the investigation a fine or probation could be all he receives as a penalty. Boutte was my draft crush last year. I felt he could contribute to the team, and I feel he still can contribute. Unfortunately, Belichick is hard on rookies, and Bill O'Brien isn't much better. Hopefully, Tiquan Underwood can develop a relationship with him, and he can develop alongside Douglas, Polk, and Baker as a young WR core.
@osonhouston I too was high on Boutte. I too want him to success and hopefully we see him carve out a role. But they are coming down HARD on these players who gamble on their own teams. What’s the likelihood that he isn’t suspended? And then, can he even make the team? Maybe he’s not injured as he was last year, and he can show that pop we saw in preseason, but we’d be stupid to not say he has a HUGE hurdle this offseason. It’s a lot and it’s why I think it’s more likely that he’s cut/traded.
RK said he wanted a top tier QB. Seems DM10 was always looked at as #3. Naturally, others in the local media desperately wanted the Pats to trade out of 3
