Dr V. You should create a mineral SPF powder for reapplication while wearing makeup. I love invincible, but it leaves me so oily, and it has a slight tint when I reapply. ❤
I have oily skin and it's so hard to find a sunscreen that's comfortable and not greasy on my skin. I've tried so many, and my top pick at the moment is the Littllextra riceberry sunscreen. It's incredibly light and actually finishes to a soft touch finish. It's completely non-sticky and entirely silky. It’s fantastic and pairs perfectly with the riceberry moisturizer.
i have brown skin (i’m mexican) and i have acne prone/combination skin. i’ve been using Aveeno Protect + Hydrate spf 60 sunscreen and it’s great !! it doesn’t leave any white cast and melts into my skin beautifully 😊 and it doesn’t make me break out which is my main concern with products
@@makpc2576 OMG YES my eyes do get irritated!! i think it may be bc the spf is so high ?? idk 😭 i recently bought this other sunscreen from target it comes on wednesday!
@@genesis22277 It could have been because it's a chemical sunscreen and has things like octisalate, octocrylene and homosalate. I've used sunscreens with this in the past and they all caused intense burning in the skin around my eyes (only the right eye to be specific, which is strange).
To be honest, I have a hard time taking reviews seriously without trying/testing products. Yes, people need to approach products that contain fragrance, essential oils and denatured alcohol with some caution, but it’s not the devil. Some people can also develop an allergic reaction to niacinamide or any other ingredient. It is the overall formula that matters. Also, adding so many actives to your skincare routine isn’t necessarily good either. A sunscreen with no frills can just be fine. As long as it protects you from the sun and the damaging UVA/B rays. I’m also not sure about recommending mineral sunscreens... Mineral sunscreens aren't better than chemical sunscreens, and vice versa. For most people of color, including myself, it’s not fun to walk around with a white cast and try to blend it in endlessly. The best sunscreen is the one that you and your skin are comfortable in to apply daily.
But what you're suggesting is not sustainable. Your skin might be fine NOW when you use products with essential oils, perfumes and denat alcohol - but what will happen in 5 or 10 years... Mineral sunscreen clearly has more benefits
No. People need to avoid fragrance, denatured alcohol, fragrance etc.. all "good" formulations does is delay the sensitization. People do not develop sensitivity to niacinamide (plus other ingredients) unless they were already allergic to it. The reaction they are experiencing is the result of using products that contain those "devil" ingredients. For SOC when treating HP, multiple actives (tyrosinase inhibitors) is essential in treating HP. The only reason people react badly to a multi active routine is because of the "devil" ingredients in their skincare products. The cetaphil recommend has no frills, and derms all over, regardless of skin tone, favour physical sunscreen for a reason. Ofcourse using sunscreen regardless is essential, but you one needs to be smart about making these choices because sunscreen is something you apply and reapply every single day. Please, stop giving people terrible advice.
I use Shiseido Face & Body SPF50+. Really softening, protects and nourishes my skin. Wear it under makeup also. On the beach on bare face it is so great. Feels like a Spa treatment.
Finally, you talk about Bond Sands sunscreen. I agree with you that it is difficult to find a good sunscreen with a reasonable price. Personally, I use CERAVE SPF 30 only and spend more time re-applying,
Absolutely love inzincable I’m on my 6th bottle ! My skin has transformed so much ever since I’ve been using your products. We love & appreciate you! Thank you for all you do for SOC family . 🙏🏾💜
@@jestinyShe makes the shipping costs as reasonable as possible. It’s $15 shipping to the US and the price points on most of her products are reasonable as well.
Unfortunately Dr v's inzinkable suncreen broke me out with rashes and it has a white cast on my skin tone. I am brown skin girl. I really wanted to love your product dr v, but unfortunately didn't agree with my skin, maybe is because of the Niacinamide in it. Anyways thanks for all the useful and beneficial skincare tips.
I tried the Dr V sunscreen and it wasn't just dewy, it was exra dewy and very uncomfortable. I had high hopes with it but unfortunately it dried out my skin as well and made my skin irritated. As I have sensitive skin, I started my sunscreen journey off with mineral formulas but all of them were drying on my skin. In search of the holy grail, I turned to Asian sunscreens and never looked back. Even with the chemical sunscreens that has alcohol in them, I never experienced such dryness and irritation than I did with mineral ones. Although, the Dr G Green Mild Sun + was actually wearable, it did dry me out a bit, too, and left a white cast even on my very pale skin.
@@preethij194 I really like the Omi Verdio UV Moisture Gel, the Hada Labo UV White Gel, but the ones that I repurchased many times is the Skin Aqua Gold products. The Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Essence Gold and Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel Gold. The essence is more lightweight, the gel is creamier. There is still a lot of sunscreen to try but these were my favourites so far.
I have beyond sensitive skin that reacts to the smallest irritant. I didn’t like it at first either until I found out shaking the bottle to reincorporate all of the ingredients made a major difference.
@@thelmao.7063Also, she creates products for skin of color that the beauty industry doesn’t take into consideration when formulating and testing products.
For those who would like an unfragranced vesion of the Garnier Protect 24, there is the Advanced Sensitive Ceramide Protect 50+ (175 ml). Even though it still contains denatured alcohol, it has no perfume, it is enriched with ceramides and it is less greasy. No eye irritation. 😊
Yes!😃 I have the one for my face. It has new chemical filters in it, and I love it! My hyperpigmentation has started to clear up, it really works well on my skin. 🤗
When Dr. V is reviewing a product you're using, you just hold your breath, hoping she doesn't say no! I recently switched from Bondi Sands SPF 50 as I was finding my face reddening after being outside to Altruist SPF 50, and my face doesn't darken at all when outside. Happy Altruist is a yes!
I have been using the Inzincable as an eye and neck cream during the day, its working wonders, fading all the sunburn around the eye area. I have acne prone skin and finds it too greasy for entire face. Will keep buying
La Roche posay 400 sunscreen is the best sunscreen I have EVER used. I have very bad highly sensitive eczema prone skin. I am like a vampire when going out, any little sun exposure will lead to sun burns and eczema on my face. I’ve tried many sunscreens and they’ve all made my skin sting. I thought I was allergic to sunscreen so never used it for years even though the dermatologist recommended it for my skin. I’ve been using La Roche posay 400 spf 50 sunscreen for 3 years now and it never disappoints. No stinging of the skin or eyes and I am completely free to go out in the sun without having to worry about my skin. I’m very surprised that you don’t recommend it. I am south Asian and have never had any issues with it. Also I cannot use the dr v sunscreen since it contains niacinamide, which my skin reacts to, but it doesn’t matter I’ve already found my holy grail sunscreen.
I’m from Australia and we have the worst sun radiation in the world. We also have higher standards for sunscreen our 50+ is higher than any other sunscreen brand worldwide. I’ve tried them all and I can say by far the best no white cast 50+ sunscreen in the world is Naked Sundays mineral sunscreen. Outstanding. Second would be mco beauty mineral sunscreen, it’s cheaper but slight white cast but it’s still ok.
Also just keep in mind when rubbing it in, treat it like a thick foundation. Dot the face then rub in slowly. Give it 5 mins and the temporary whiteness fades. Don’t treat mineral and chemical the same. The formulas are different so be patient when applying. Mco beauty one is harder to blend in but still a great cheaper option. Naked sundays melts into my skin more easily but it’s more costly.
Would love more on drugstore Asian sunscreens because we get mostly those in Malaysia but melanated South Asian Malaysians like myself and many others are only left to find something for ourselves within these options many of which give us terrible whitecast!
The Dr V sunscreen unfortunately burnt my skin and I don't have sensitive skin it really can deal with a lot. I always get red spots and rough patches after using it like a literal burn. I ended up using it and eliminating other products that were new and realised it's her sunscreen that my skin was reacting to which is a shame i was so exited to find a mineral sunscreen for me that wont leave a white cast.
@@marileorube24 Yeah it might be its just a shame it seems really harsh on the skin tbh. I thought it'd be OK because I just use a simple plain Gel wash and cetraben as she suggests but nope it burnt me on multiple areas of my face.
@shamz3325 It's either the Niacinamide or you could possibly be allergic to any ingredients in the product. I also had a reaction like that to a product I used previously and then later found out I was allergic to it. I think you should do an allergy test for precaution.
My absolute favorites are Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid in the warmer months and Cosrx Vitamin E Revitalizing in the cooler months since it’s just a _tad_ bit heavier. I swear by those two!!
You are the only dr on RU-vid that I fully trust . Thank you for making videos like this . Your advice has worked wonders on my skin. Will forward this video to all my friends. There has been a boom of sunscreens in india . Could we have a best and worst Indian sunscreens video please ?
Could you please do a video on how to top up your sunscreen during the day if you are wearing makeup please? Which is better…sprays or powder spf’s? Thank you.
I recently bought the Ultrasun SPF 50 Transparent face and scalp UV protection mist as it says there’s no fragrance or alcohol in it. The inky list looks rather long and I wonder if you could check out the ingredients in this product at some point when you can and let me know if this is a product I should be using as I have melisma as well so don’t want it getting worse. I’m on my second hyperpigmentation kit of yours so am really trying my best to get rid of my dark spots on both cheeks and my forehead . Thank you in advance.
The hate for denatured alcohol is ridiculous. Most sunscreens have humectants and moisturisers included to ensure they don’t dry out the skin. It’s not like you are just putting pure alcohol onto your face. It’s formulated by professionals and labs with years of experience. She isn’t even trying them, just reading the ingredients. The most drying sunscreen I ever tried was a mineral one. It literally sucked all the moisture and oil out of my skin, but I kept on trying because of videos like this trying to tell me mineral sunscreen was superior - which it is not. I now use a chemical one with denatured alcohol and my skin has never looked better. The best sunscreen is whatever you like, can afford, and you are happy to reapply - even if it has alcohol or fragrance.
Thank you so much for reviewing la Roche posay skin fluid, I tried it a while ago after it being recommended by so many derms, but it smelt like alcohol and I found it irritating on my skin, I was confused and thought I had the wrong version! I'm glad you gave a thumbs up to the beauty of joseon as that is what my mother and I are currently using and both love it :) interested in your review on their products that you don't recommend as I've tried the serums, the dynasty cream and eye retinal (I use it for whole face) and like everything I've tried. I was also curious why you said that the Bondi sands SPF is good but only for a body SPF, could it not also be used on the face? It's an Aussie brand so one I can buy at pharmacies here (unlike the beauty of joseon) and I've also been using the Aussie brand QV (the cream) for a moisturising cream, I use it on my face and body and love having products that are multi use! Could you please clarify what makes something ok for the face but not body? I love having things in a big bottle as more economical especially with SPF in the Aussie summer and needing so much sunscreen, I thought the smaller sized bottles of stuff that say for face was just a marketing thing and the ingredients were similar. I think it's true for QV and Bondi sands they started with one formula then start releasing smaller bottles for face that are twice or three times the price. Thank you!
This is so interesting LOVE this advice. All the influencers are just out for money especially dermatologists they should be ashamed of themselves 😤. Thanks Dr. V ❤❤
I agree and you don't know who to trust anymore. All revolves around money, unfortunately!! That's why I spend my time and energy on Dr. V's video, at least she's keeping it real and not playing with our minds
That tiny bottle must only last a week for your family of 4. I use it and it only lasts 28 days. Please make a bigger version, it will reduce plastic waste and save me postage. Great product
Picking a sunscreen to buy is a losing game ...first only european sunscreens such as Eucerin ,La Roche posay ,Avene ,SVR are readily available where I live ,and all the known effective ones have formulas that contain things like denat alcohol etc in the end i'll have to just protect myself from the sun than not apply any cause none are perfect so it's a compromise
Hey Dr V, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR INZINCABLE sunscreen!!! I find that if I shake it up before I use it, the initial finish is not as Dewey. It thoroughly soothes my dry and sensitive skin. I am a medium to dark chocolate shade and it leaves NO WHITE CAST whatsoever. This is the only sunscreen that has done that for me and my entire family. My 15yr old son hates putting on sunscreen because it makes him look like “a grey ghost” (his words). However, he loves Dr V’s sunscreen because he says, “it just disappears into his skin” (also his words). Thank you for taking the time to make a product that is safe, effective and lovely on our skin! Are you considering making a sunscreen for the body? A family-sized bottle? I sincerely hope so! Thank you again!
Hi can you make a video on best skincare products for Indian skin like in stepwise skincare routine (AM n PM). Will be really appreciated as you're one of the few people out here giving honest unsponsored reviews😃
Hi Dr V, we would to see next video on mineral sunscreen sfp 50 tinted and non tinted. There is only a few chemical not mineral. Can you tell us why and what ingredients to look for to AVOID product pilling as moisturizer mixed together with sunscreen. I had experienced with most mineral sunscreen, I am using Paula Choice Skin Hydrator and I just give up on moisturizer. Great video and can’t wait for your next SPF tinted 50❤.
I just returned from vacation in West Africa. I thought about you while I was there. I saw so much beautiful smooth dark skin. It was so dark and velvety and perfect. None of the people that I met there wear sunscreen. They also look half their age. Why is that??? They are not ageing and don't wear sunscreen, and I'm jealous of how perfect their skin is...
Currently in Middle East and using the Izincable for the first time. Goes on nicely, easy to apply. Keen to know if my face is sweating do I keep reapplying as you mentioned every 2-3 hours? Feels like it’s slipping off with the sweat.
I use Neutrogena oil free moisture with sunscreen to shave my face. It’s the best shave cream I’ve ever used. Does not leave any stubbles. Just wet my face put a small amount of the Neutrogena on the tips of my fingers and rub it around shave the face all done. Put another small amount to moisturize.
Hi Dr V, I’m loving your videos and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and educating our community. I am looking forward for your new products; a eye cream, a body sunscreen and a lip sunscreen too. xx
I wonder if you’ll see this comment! I love the DRMTLGY tinted sunscreen - it’s SPF 44 though, but melts beautifully into the skin and is easy to apply because it comes in an airless pump. I’d love to know what you think of it.
Can you please recommend chemical sunscreens that we can use. Unfortunately zinc based sunscreens are hard to come by, especially those without a white cast. 🇿🇦
Hi dr V. We appreciate these videos. Can you tell us how to avoid knee wrinkles? For example how to prevent it and what causes knees to wrinkle early? Is it sitting folding your legs all the time or? Your response would be greatly appreciated
Skingredients also do a lovely mineral sunscreen with a tint to avoid the usual white cast. You can also purchase refills instead of buying a new bottle each time. I would love your thoughts on it if you are doing more brand review. 😊❤
I'm a fan of all your products and recommended your hair products to AMA Textured Hairstylist in North London. It would be really good if you would consider refills for your products. It would also help our planet.
Thank you so much for this review. I was wondering if you could please review Pilgrim and Derma Co indian brands. They are pushed a lot and I wanted to know the best products. Thanks a lot
Hi great video but the one thing you have missed for us outdoors people when we need sunscreen the most, which is the best for face thats water resistant ? So when on holiday at the beach or the pool what can we apply to the face that won't wash off after letting settle for 20min before getting wet.
Hi can you video on Vitamin C moisturiser for dry acne prone skin. I struggle with finding moisturiser that don't break me out and plus can review bronzers that don't break people out please thanks! Love your dedication ❤️ towards skin of colour and your channel!
When a sunscreen is shiny / dewy, instead of powder (for those who do not use make up or powders), is it possible to gently tap with a towel / tissue? Thankyou.
Thank god. I hold my breath for naked sunday. I m from Australia and using naked sunday, free shipping, no white cast and give you good complexion if you are brown parson. Thanks for another suggestion will definitely try mco beauty
I’m an Indian guy and love a lot of South Korean Sunscreens. Please do a video on a lot of them. I’m at the moment using Cosrx Ultra light sunscreen SPF 50 pa++++
Great videos as always Dr V. Not sure if I'm the only one, but when your intro played ie. Cosmetic Formulator, Author, Doctor etc., all the wording appeared back to front....🤔
Hey Dr v...... love from India..... I saw in one of ur videos where u talked abt getting ur products to India by collaborating with Indian brand and I just wanted to say please please do tht.... I absolutely love ur formulation and it would be amazing if I could get hand on ur products in India and my skin will be happy
Hello ma'am, watch and trust your recommendation a lot. Please make a video on effective retinol found in India (budget friendly) specially advise on pure bubble retinol. Please please please 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Dr V. Sun protection is great and undoubtedly the most sensible thing to do, however life happens ..and you do sometimes get unwanted sun exposure just by being indoors in a room with windows before you've had the chance to get to your morning skincare - how much damage does 30-60min of unprotected indoor exposure cause the skin ? and is there anything we can do to soothe or treat after exposure (in addition to diligence with sunscreen application)
Thanks. Your reviews are all the best. Could you please talk about Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Face either. I would like to know your thoughts on this particular product.
Dr. V, are you able to tell us about the effects sunscreens and the skin care products have on health especially female hormones. Skin care awareness has boomed in the past few years and the number of products I find myself using makes me wonder how they might be impacting my hormones.
I love your work and enjoy your channel. Appreciate your approach to skincare. I was very disappointed to see you formulated the Inzincable sunscreen with butyloctyl salicylate while saying in the description that there are no chemical filters. This is a chemical filter "booster" that many of us with sensitive skin do react to. I think its a great ingredient for those who can tolerate it as part of a hybrid sunscreen, definitely helps minimize white cast. Just dont market it as a fully mineral sunscreen.
Hi Dr V what is the safest/ best SPF 50 for me. I live in a very hot tropical climate year round and I am ALLERGIC to NIACINAMIDE. Thanks in advance much appreciated
Yes I think… the yellow package one … sheer zinc … I have acne prone skin and have used it for 2 years without any issues … i think she had mentioned it in her earlier videos that these were fine for acne prone skin ..
Dr V, thank you so much for the review... I really wish you included the Sun bum brand, that's the one that seems to be most popular here in the US and so many young girls like me, I know are using them. I just wanted to see a breakdown of their products including SPF lip balms, and sprays. Is it possible for you to review those? Thanks ☺
Hey Dr V so happy ive caught you before the one hour. Loyal customer here i wanted to ask you what is the best spf to use on the body e.g arms, upper and legs. Im going on holiday and wasnt sure if i could use my inzincable SPF50 on my body as well
My go to, they’re cetaphil liquid mineral spf50 for layer 1 and if you wear makeup, you don’t need anything else. I don’t wear makeup so to cancel the whitecast, I use Australian gold tinted mineral spf50
Hi Dr. V. I was considering to buy retinaldehyde serum from the brand pulp. But not sure whether the ingredients are safe. It contains: Aqua, Niacinamide (5%), 1,3-Propanediol, Betaine, Saccharide Isomerate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Heptyl Glucoside, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenethyl Alcohol, Sodium Carrageenan, Sea Salt, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Retinaldehyde(0.2%), Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Disodium Edta.
