A very naïve thought to be honest. Like Scholes mentioned there are many things to take care of in order to get the deal over the line. Man is just thinking about his OWN happiness without thinking about the player's choice. The player has gotta think about his family, career etc. Sometimes I think people like him live much happier cos they don't do much thinking :)
@davidtatey 😂 wouldn't let it go would he. Why dont we just do the same with everything in society. Cut hospital waiting lists to a week "if they all know its got to be done it'll get done".
He was totally ridiculous, doesn't know the ins and outs of what is involved. It isn't just the paperwork, it isn't just the legal. There is family, there is moving places, internal politics, there is replacements. That guy is so naive. Just because he sees some deals being done in a few days he thinks it can be done for all of them.
Definitely! Think this was all down to Gary Neville and when he done that infamous interview with AFTV. That really was the start to bringing the MSM together with the fans. Proper to Gary for that
First question is utterly ridiculous. A week to get transfers done? What about early season injuries, the capacity of smaller clubs recruitment teams, capacity of the medical staff. Not to mention the exceptional pressure it would add to players to make the decision if they want to change clubs in what would effectively be a day. Utterly insane & clearly not thought through.
When you look at the in/outs of clubs after a window, it can be as much as 6-10 in and 20+ out, imagine orchestrating that within a week, the logistics of travel, getting the players accommodation, the medical staff being on top of it, not to mention all of the contracts that will need sorting. They'd be sorting 3-4 players/contracts a day, that's ridiculous, crazy
@@danthompson489 yes. I think that's what he meant as well. Do the work, contracts, medicals etc during the season and off season and have the window officially open for a week or so for the transfer to be officially registered. A week is still too short but I do think the window is ridiculously long.
I think Irwin, Schmeichel and Dalglish all good signings, but I can't think of many better than N'Golo Kante, primarily due to it being recent when transfer fees have gone mental, so thinking about it relative to the time. I genuinely don't think Leicester would've won the league without him. EDIT: I said this before Ornstein did, but feels good to agree with him.
This Brentford fella is doubling down on his mad idea. How to show you don’t know how recruitment works without saying you don’t know how recruitment works.
Kolo Toure for 150k to Arsenal deserves a shout. Came over as more of an attacking player, got converted into a CB, and played 37 out of 38 games in the invincibles season.
The guy stating transfer window should only be a week is typical of arrogant, close minded EPL fans. No concept that most clubs across the world have to balance budgets and if someone comes in for a player, they need to try line up a replacement. Also that transfers have a knock on effect down the leagues I terms of budgets etc. Having a week is a nonsense. It would kill small clubs, transfer fees would be reduced to only the highest leagues. Everything else would turn into free transfers ans loans
Harry Mcgriefer is probably our worst transfer. This guy has been ruining my Stake Parlays since 2019. We brought him in for €80mil🤡 hes now worth €18mil 😭
Really cant stand that Brentford guy, he doesn't want to ask any questions just wants to hear himself talk.. Constant shite stories most of which are almost certainly half or completely made up
And he keeps mentioning how difficult it is for Brentford to sign players when clubs like United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City are coming in for them. Like, mate, as if those big clubs are looking for the same players as Brentford. If anything, they would want Brentford to get the cheap player, develop him and then, the big clubs will get him. In no world are the big clubs competing for the same players as Brentford. It's just bollocks.
You guys complain when the channel is all about United but you’re getting detailed insight into Brentford and you’re complaining… can’t make you guys happy
@@FifaForumOnline Can you not read? Nobody is moaning about Brentford being talked about. People just seem to think the Brentford guy loves the sound of his own voice. Also, the week long tranfer window idea was just insane.
That was the best 1 million spent by any club in the past 10 years and still no one mentioned him and he has the real football story coming all the way from amateur football to win the Premier league
Leicester buying him was great business but you can’t say 450k then ignore the fee City paid and you can’t include trophies won at city. Are you the brentford guy in disguise
Ornstein is one of those people I could listen to all day, interesting guy and must have 100's of stories and insights into how things go on behind the scenes. Seems very respectful of where he has got to via the people he has met, worked with over the years he's been doing his job and his confidence in what he does and how he does it comes across in a humble way and not cocky or with an ego.
When Orstein said he hasn't gotten any transfer new wrong, all I could think of was "Moises Caicedo is heading to Liverpool to complete his medical" 🤣🤣
Respect to Ornstein telling the whinging fans to grow up. It's not a video game. Unless you are Man City, there are taxes, laws, families, agents, club shareholders, wage bills, entourages, quotas and endless obstacles between a club and signing a player.
Best signing for Liverpool is Coutinho hands down. Bought for 8.5M, served us well through a depressing period then sold for 108M. He bankrolled our PL winning team. 😎💰
Didn’t bank roll your team. 75 of that was on Van Dijk. Unless you spent 33 million on someone I’m unaware of just after, that’s not the case. Also, that’s really not how transfers and transfer money works I’m afraid. If you want to understand how it works there are many articles on the Athletic that give details into how transfer money and sponsorship money works as well. I agree, a great transfer in terms of profit. But not much else.
Still won a prem tho. Something most players don't. Maybe after he did that he just lost motivation cos he had completed the game. Icl tho...he was absolutely dire at my Villa
Vincent Kompany for 8m, what a signing, I know he suffered with injuries late in his City career, but for that money, his trophy haul and influence on and off the pitch, absolutely brilliant.
@@denzel1989 yes my mistake, think it was 6m, and yes originally he was a DM. Mark Hughes deserves massive credit for bringing him in, as well as Zabaleta and DeJong for around the same money. De Jong was let go far too early by Mancini. 3 brilliant signings.
@@onthekippaxsince75De Jong was £16m with 6 months left on his contract. Guess more competition to sign him had we waited that out. Hughes got excellent value in Vinny and Zaba but he also played Vinny as a CDM and even then he often used him off the bench. Mancini came in and immediately put Vinny in the starting XI and moved him to centre back and that's when his City career really started.
What a ridiculous thought, how can you expect deals to be done in a week it’s impossible. So you buy a player in Spain to come to England and expect him to sign the contract, look for house, move his family from one country to another, change schools for the kids, look for a house in England all in a week. You’re mad
lol. I'd read the comments while this was playing and read this one well before he came on... then I had to ALT-TAB back and just started laughing seeing NFFC
He’s always like that 😂 he’s a regular on a Forest podcast. Good guy I think, does a lot for charity and really positive but like nails down a chalk board to listen to
Liverpool's best business ever is Coutinho. Not necessarily the best signing but best business, for sure. Maybe even the best business we've seen in the premier league.
“We’re dealing with players earning 1500-3000 a WEEK. They can’t just go to Manchester and rent a penthouse apartment”….. 😂 Scholes lives on a different planet 😂
Andy Robertson has got to be up there, £8m and has probably been one of the greatest Premier Left backs ever. and worst in EPL given the price tag was probably Andy Carroll.
What makes Sancho any better than Antony other than being British. Cost the same had way higher expectations scored less important goals basically took a year off.
No Newcastle representation on here but Shearer world record transfer was unreal for us. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old. Before social media etc, we were on holiday and first I heard about it was when I got back and he was playing for us. Andy Cole from Bristol and scored over 40 goals in one season. Worst signing: Michael Owen or Marcelino
Love Scholes but his comment about players ‘only’ earning 2-3k a week and not being able to afford a penthouse is the most out of touch with reality observation I've heard in recent weeks.
he means they cant just pay top dollar to stay somewhere...u do realiase contract is probs 2/ 3 yrs and likely unemployed by mid 30s......cant be spending all wages on that....need to plan for after football...its good planning /common sense
Whoever started that first question should be banned from coming on. Talking about the most pointless thing that’s never gunna happen for 15 minutes it’s dumb
Best signings for Blackburn: Alan Shearer, Brad Friedel, Tugay. I could name a few more. Worst: Kevin Davies, Christian Dailly, Corrado Grabbi. There are many more.
Correct me if im wrong but Scholes said there are players on £1500 to £3000 per week , it's unrealistic to expect them to find places to stay ...is he saying financially they can't manage that ?????
You also have to understand that a lot of that goes to various things down the leagues as well as Tax, it's also not a million miles off to expect the player to want some form of security (gated off / concierge) all it takes is one lunatic to make him or the family fear for their lives. You ain't getting that for £1k a month rent.
unrealistic for them to be able to relocate a family into a new place in 1-2 weeks is unreasonable. How long does it take conveyancing etc. At PL clubs they have places they rent out for a player to stay temporarily.
I’m absolutely sick of hearing Ornstein describing his career and how he dies his thing. I’m not even interested in him breaking news on transfers, why would anyone care about his career?
Gael Clichy (£338k from Cannes) Nicolas Anelka (£500k from PSG) Kolo Toure (£150k from ASEC Mimosas) Robin van Persie (£2.75m from Feyenoord) Wenger is truly a genius and he doesn't get enough credit for what he did in the Premier League
A week transfer window is simply a nonsense idea. That guy hasn't got a clue what's he talking about. I'm glad Scholes explained it. Deals take months to get concluded. Maybe the window could get shorter, I agree about the idea of closing it before the season starts, that's very fair. But surely it would have to open for at least a month surely. A week is literally nothing.
Up there with Salah & SUarez They sold Rush Bought Aldridge Barnes Beardsley The best LFC side ever seen. What a side Everton were SHarp Sheedy Reid Southall Howard Kendall genius Robbed of European glory
Antony isn't near the worst purely because he contributed to winning an FAcup in a season where ManUtd were otherwise hopeless he got the equaliser to force extra-time vs Liverpool on a foot people say he can't use (which I find baffling because football in general is of such lower quality than before because there are so many 1-footed players that aren't criticised enough for it but people say it all the time for him). Berbatov was 1of the worst considering the amount of trophies and records he cost ManUtd when he was also the most expensive signing at the time and it was in an era of a great team and manager. 1 goal against a Top5 team in any domestic major competition in his entire ManUtd career, no ChampionsLeague knockout goals etc etc etc...I agree with Scholes about Bosnich's kicking. I remember that and then the following season we had Barthez and it was chalk & cheese (although he had a very poor 2nd season).
@davidlangfield1245 He also went a full 3 years without any ChampionsLeague goals for ManUtd, only scored in 3 CL games for the club in 4 seasons, all in group stage not vs elite CL teams. Then people wonder why he wasn't selected for the CL final 2011????
@@tomdip2094 Be glad to finally see the back of both of them. But Sancho worse than Anthony. At least Anthony puts the effort in when he's picked. Just can't be so one dimensional in EPL. Oh and have 0/100 with your weak foot. Sancho was 2 years of torture to get him. Showed F all, caused pandemonium in the dressing room and acted like a 3 year old. And worst still, we know there's a talented player there if he just got over himself and put the F'ing work in. Be out of matchday squads and on the fan's worst transfer lists by Christmas at Chelsea.
In my opinion Manchester City's most important ever signing was Robinho. The irony is he was somewhat of a flop but at the time he was considered one of the best young players in the world, and.heir to Pele, Romario, Ronaldo lineage and he was coming from Real Madrid. The Sheiks had bought city but they hadn't been able to attract stars to the club yet. Robinho legitimized the project and paved the way for signings like Aguero, Toure, Kompany. The kicker to the story is Robinho apparently thought he was going to play for Manchester United. He didn't realize there were two teams in Manchester and only realized when the deal had been finalized 😂
Chelsea’s worst signing gotta be Winston Bogarde.. set precedent of sitting back and taking the wages for little to no input. And now players from all over come to Chelsea to rinse their wallet 😂👏🏼
Sorry but Arsenal best signings were Anelka, Vieira and Bergkamp. Anelka for the amount we sold him and built London Colney. Vieira for his amount and his influence. Bergkamp for how he changed our club’s direction and identity.
No offense but it was Alex's opinion. Many people could not fully experience that Arsenal era because of their age. Like he said in the video that he's born in 1997, so he's probably started watching in around 07/08.
@@Bert-lw1otit’s a joke mate, the players today are really good. But essentially just really impressive athletes. The maverick players era is well and truly over, it’s a shame
